Thank you so much for this . As an older woman I have found myself just exhausted and tired all the time . The more technology we have available the more stuff we can find to do . I’ve packed my brain with so much clutter that I literally cannot sit still with myself , the constant bombardment of cell phones, tablets , internet has reprogrammed our brains for chaos . It’s awful .

I’ve got the same problem with being still when you try to focus on God and even praying my mind always wonders. I wouldn’t say I’m super energetic, but closing my mind to things around me is difficult. I’m glad you’re spending quality time with your kids. One day you can look back and see where that was so much more important than having a spotless house. Bless you and your family.

Spend as much time with those precious children. They grow so quickly. As a grandma of 10, I see my grandchildren growing up just as fast as our children did. The noise changes when your children grow up, marry, and start a family of their own. On those days all our children and their families come visit, I absolutely LOVE my noisy house. 😂 Keep God front and center will help. I, too, must tell myself to take care of me and then get household work done. Of course, tomorrow is a new day. A new day to work on what you didn't accomplish yesterday or two days before, etc. God, Family, Work. I truly try to follow that. You do what God guides YOU to do. Love your videos! God bless. 😊

I have worked since I was 15 years old, and I am 68 now. But about 10 or 15 years ago, I ended up bedridden for about 3 and a half years. I was devastated. I could no longer do. But it became a blessing in that I was finally able to tune in to what I really liked and disliked. I learned how much I hated television and Oreo cookies. (I know, Oreos?) I still have noise in my life, but it's more self-inflicted. My favorite time (and I never thought I'd say this) is the early morning after my husband goes to work but before dawn when I go for a walk. I love just sitting in my living room in the quiet. I will bring my scriptures out and sometimes I just hold them. It doesn't always happen that way, but when it does, it's perfect! You will pull it all together, even if it isn't all the time. Love these front porch chats!

Thanks so much for reminding us that we need to be still and take time for the most important things. Also I sincerely thank you for reminding us that we need to take a good look at reality and not keep having false hope that we can get our never-ending work caught up first, when it will never happen. We need to take time for other things, too. I love that song at the end. It is a great reminder to especially spend time with God daily as well. Thank you! 😘🤗

I got to the point where I was unhealthily attached to internet interactions and had to just stop all social media and even tv watching, cold turkey for an extended time. The silence was strange and awkward at first, but I realized it was what I needed. It was like I'd been too afraid of myself to be alone with myself. As an introvert, my body processes stimuli differently and needs peace and quiet more but I was never giving myself that. The more I did, the better I felt and the better I got along with others. Over the years, I have found it easier to just stay away from social media and to keep the tv off unless I know there is a program I want to watch on. In other words, I don't browse or aimlessly use them. I gave up TV watching for Lent one year, 2020 as it happened, and that helped break the automatic response I had of turning it on whenever I was bored (which was an improvement from having it on all the time, but still distracted me too much from more important things). Instead, I played solitaire with real cards and learned various patterns from a physical book. I read more real books, too, and listened to Christian radio programs. I still don't watch much of it, and I usually avoid the news altogether. It seems a lot of news is opinion or not something I need to know about. I have an app to get weather information from, and if I am concerned about traffic I'll look it up on the station's website and watch just what I need. It probably helps that I am an introvert with agoraphobia, so am basically scared of people and unfamiliar settings. I'm not anti-social, I'm just scared and although I want to have good relationships I lack the skills (I was never taught them, and was pretty isolated as a child) and opportunities to develop them. I live alone and don't have close friends and only a few family members talk to me. I have recently started going to church and Bible studies, though, and have made a few acquaintances that I talk with but not really beyond church stuff. It's definitely a quieter life but sometimes it's also very lonely. However, it is also a blessing in that it's allowed me to heal from an abusive childhood and to draw closer to God than I had before.

♡ So true. . . Just because it's good noise doesn't mean it's OK or good for you or a good time to listen and add it to your life... seems like if it's good then we just add it to our schedule and add it to our day and life without thought because after all, it is good isnt it?!... sometimes you can just have too much good!! 😊I listened all the way through ♡ it was all so good!! God cares so much about all of this and how things affect us individually... Haha loved the kids in the back ground... Xander made me laugh out loud 😄 he has the best personality. ♡ 🥲Be still my soul... your God will undertake... He will guide the future as He did the past.. ❤ thanks... I’ve been in seasons of life where it feels like I’m going nonstop and I am now in a season of more stillness (in my 40’s) and I think this season is one of the best yet. There will always be housework. There will always be something on your list that needs done. But, let me reassure you; time flies, and one day you'll wake up and your son will be starting his Senior year of High School like mine next week. I keep asking myself, how did we get here? How did/does my 8yr old, look like a man now?!?!? Don't EVER feel sad, bad, frustrated, guilty, about stealing EVERY moment you can with your children. They will never again be the age that they are right now. Oh how I wish I would have put aside my perfectionism and just enjoyed each one of my kids. Was I good Mom to them, YES! But looking back, I realized I was so worried about things that just didn't matter. Enjoy those babies!!! In regards to slowing down, meditating, etc. AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!! I so appreciate you bringing this topic up. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who values this. So thank you for making me not feel alone anymore.😁 I completely agree! This world is very noisy. Not only because I live in the suburbs, but all of the ways that you spoke about in your video. I'm currently working on the "addiction to my phone" irritation. I know the truth just like you said, but walking it out is totally different. But it's so worth it, to just use my phone in little ways. I turned 58 this past July and all but my youngest are grown. My youngest is 16. My life is just as busy, if not busier than it was when my children were younger. I lost my husband 2 years ago in June and it has changed my entire life from finishing the renovation s to our home, completing landscaping, listing my house and moving. Now I am in my new home, but adjusting to a new partner and a different home after losing mama this past December. I am her eldest and most of her estate has become my responsibility and even though I have help from my sister, she has a full-time job and a 4 year old to manage. I have found listening to music will settle my mind and allow me to slow down and reflect. Then I can sit quietly and pray or read my Bible. It’s still a learning process, because every life circumstance is different and our needs and struggles change from one season to the next. I think we just have to keep working on it.

Such a lovely video. My children are grown and I so wish I had spent more time playing and laughing rather than tidying. It’s hard when it’s in your nature to like order. My tip to my younger self would be “simplify”. I would own less so I would have less to organize and put away, fewer clothes, fewer toys, fewer after school activities. I would streamline my ownership of material goods, get them out of my life and then have time to play more.

Timely conversation.. Has been on my mind a lot lately. I've been spending far too much time on my phone than if like to and lately getting headaches using my phone especially when I open Instagram. It's become exhausting.. We really have to focus on our own individual lives and unplug from social media regularly. This is why I prefer KZbin, I learn a lot more and don't feel so low about myself as I do scrolling Instagram. I think also as Christians it is our responsibility to always reflect Phillipians 4:8 and most importantly point everything back to God. Too many Christian influencers have made their platforms about themselves, their lifestyle and even pointing fingers at others. Not enough wholesome Christ centred content imo. I like your videos because they're family orientated and actually encourage me rather than cause me to compare my life and feel horrible. I appreciate that, also I can see how much effort and thought you put into your content too which I respect a lot ❤️

My sister used to tell me to journal and I would say…”I don’t have time for that and even if I did what would I write.” I wish I would have followed that advice when I was raising my girls. I started journaling pretty faithfully about 4years ago. I came across a journaling tip to add a surrender pocket to my journal for all things that create the “ noise” and we can’t control. I write it down and put it in the pocket ( envelope glued in the back cover of my journal) Surrendering to the outside and inside noise is helpful for me. I also was told that living in the future, the I have this next week, and trying to squeeze and plan everything in the coming weeks and months will cause anxiety, living in the past and overthinking all that has happened and can’t be undone will cause depression. Living in the Now is quite challenging, but if you don’t you miss your own life!😂😅You have such wonderful wisdom! This season of busyness will pass. You will look back and wonder how you did it all. I think taking a moment of quiet time is your surrender pocket!💕

I think it all comes back to our first love. If we are immersed in Him and His Word, not only are we refreshed but the answers we're looking for become more clear. The one true voice that overrides all others is the voice of God through His written Word. I know it's not always easy or convenient to spend time in the Bible, but I know that when I do spend more time reading His Word, everything around me gets put into perspective. There really is only one we have to please and if we are walking with Him, everything else will be okay. He's looking for Mary's in this Martha world.

It works for my brain to give 'to do's a time. Example: some women like to do a load of laundry per day, some have laundry days. I prefer the second; Monday is laundry day even if its a big project, and Tuesday-Sunday IT IS NOT ON THE TO DO LIST! So my suggestion is, to the degree that you are able, to give something 'a time' it then clears it from that mental "I should be..." the rest of the time, allowing you to be fully present with your children (which is the best of the things you get to do!

It might help to often remind yourself what kind of mom you want your kids to remember you as. The parent who was always too busy for them? The mom who had no patience? The mom who ignored them if she was doing something? Or the mom who always had a moment for them, who always put them before her work, who made the time to play with them and give them a fun childhood? Also it helps to remember that your children are the most important job to you after God and your husband. They are more important than that shirt you are folding. They are more important than that carpet you are vacuuming or the meal you are making, the bush you are planting or even the goat you are feeding. If you make a routine that you always (if possible) follow, your children will learn that at a specific time of every day, mom needs to get something done for the family and they need to play without her for a little, but she will return to giving them special attention once she finishes.

I absolutely agree about the extremism. It makes me so weary. I have chosen to only occasionally check my social media outside of the KZbin channels that I choose to follow. I only listen to news through a short podcast 3 days a week called The Pour Over that gives you the basic highlights and cautions you to keep biblical perspectives. I listen to the Bible on my way to work along with Tara Leigh Cobble's commentary, but I drive in silence on the way home after being around people all day. I enjoy silence. I've driven 12-14 hours in silence and didn't feel the need to fill it. I like to think, dream, and write stories in my head. I probably need therapy. 😅

For me, it boils down to what we NEED to "do" and what WE CHOOSE to "do". I choose my children/family first. I choose to play the games and snuggle and read and chat. Dishes and laudy and such will wait. We aren't promised tomorrow and we only have our babies for a few short years. I choose to make the memories we each have be mwmories of mom choosing her littles over mom choosing the next chore.

Somebody said to me, that ever extreme is harmful. If you think honey is good for your health and you only eat honey you probably will very soon have other health problem. And that is it with so many things. Another thing that make my mind feel no so stressed out is, that not all things need my attention and I don't have to evaluate everything. I thought I must have a clear opinion on everything, but that's not true. In many cases I don't know the context of it all so I will be relaxed about it and if it's important I study it and make me a picture. But so many things don't change in themselves if I think one or another way of it. Focusing on the things which really matters is the important thing to do. Some days I make a "no phone" day. That helps to becoming more still a a bit disciplined...😉 thank you for sharing your heart with us. God bless you!

In over 60 years I’m finally (finally) in the position of convincing myself that it is OK to say NO! Not every proposed “obligation” has to be answered yes, even if I’d like to do it, perhaps even want to do it. Balance is the difficult line. The only person that can decide your balance is you. (Obviously a husband/wife decision if that is your situation and it is an obligation which would involve both of you - you get the general point I’m trying to make)

Great conversation sis! I also find it difficult to balance and block things out so I am glad that I am not the only one lol

You have such wonderful insights. I just love your posts!!! One of these days I’m going to get some of your coffee!!! Got to get a coffee pot first!!!😂😂😂😂 Many blessings, Theresa. P.S.- you are doing a great job with your children. Show yourself some grace… there is no such thing as getting it all done every day. One day at a time. One moment at a time.

Yes! I'm at wife/teacher. I feel like I try to cram everything into 3 months of summer, which brings so much stress. Also agree with the phone issues. I struggle with putting it down especially if I'm by myself even if I'm just listening to videos/podcasts(i also loving learning new things). Quiet time is important I'm discovering. Thanks for this uplifting video. Can't wait to try the coffee once I get a coffee maker:)

I believe that you would feel desperate to get as much packed in as possible. I hope you had a relaxing/fulfilling summer before you get back to school! P.s. I've been thinking of coming up with a blend for teachers 😀 that would be fun.

I get where you are coming from as I am a public school teacher in her 21st year. At work I have technology thrown at me left and right. Most of the time it complicates things. I’m also single and own my own home, so I’m responsible for anything and everything that gets done there. I do a fairly good job of not letting technology at home rob me of my peace and time but at work I have no control. I miss the days where we weren’t forced into letting technology run our work lives. I also have Lyme disease which leaves me in pain and exhausted. When I do research online to try and find out all I can to help myself, I see contradictory information everywhere. I have a good doctor who is doing all he can. I also know God is in control of my life. I’ve been ill with the Lyme since 2003 and after struggling that long, I could easily give up if I don’t remind myself whose I am, a child of God. And then consciously shut out the world’s noise.

You had Saturn in your coffee cup there! I am preparing to decorate my sixth grade classroom with space and the solar system, so that is what I saw.😂

A hard one to find balance in is mom life...... Always work! When do you just sit down and relax?? As a busy mom I wish I would have answers in all that as well ..... With children growing up fast in a slower paced life then PA I still find it hard to have a slow paced life... Doing what is most needed to be done in a day is what I try but yet sometimes the need to be done list is to long and it's bedtime before they are done, especially summer time🤨. Also being spirit led and having the peace is the most of all😁

Yes I can do relate to you! It's frustrating. Good to be busy but sometimes it's overwhelming

That coffee is very good 😊. Janene you have a great channel. I was going to ask you, Are there any American Indian aboriginal people that are Mininite or Amish? And how do the Amish and Mininite people feel about us? Thanks for answering. 💗❤️

Thank you! Yes, while the mennonite movement was mostly started by Swiss Germans... there are many different nationalities on our churches. We love having people join!

I feel like that as well!! Just longing to slow down cuz it's all too much! Is my goal for this month! These words come to my mind often when I think about it: Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in his wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace!! Thank you for sharing ur thoughts!! Very true! ❤

Amen ! To all you said ! It’s hard to live it out I know ! One thing I did to still my mind is to get off all social media . I still have KZbin but find I can control it better then instagram. I don’t know how I would have done , if I would have had all the instagramers yapping in my ear while I was raising our children!? They work on my nerves at my stage in life and I wish I could tell them not to be so shot gun sure they have it figured out before there children are grown and prove them wrong ! 😅. Another thing is I don’t have any bones with moms like you that do business from home , but I never did . Running our home was a full time job for me .
