Dear Sam, as being a German, The white Module is the tire pressure control module and the metallic one is for the air suspension as you said correctly. For corrosion on PCBs vinegar can remove it, but be aware, all corrosion, even when it was conductive before, will then be gone. So you have to solder new wires then to connect the formerly corroded parts.
@Charlesvonschwenke13 сағат бұрын
Exactly what I was thinking
@johnelectric93312 сағат бұрын
If your solder joint has corroded, once you clean the crud off with vinegar, try and a little flux and heat the solder back up. I use the no-clean rosin gel (NOT WATER CLEAN!) It should go right back to shiney. If not, you can just add solder. Lead-tin solder is fine in the US for repairs and much easier than lead-free. Anything out of Europe is probably Tin only solder which takes a lot more heat. The two are compatible and adding a little lead-tin will actually lower the melting point of the existing tin solder.

Boy oh boy. I wish you the best of luck. I was lucky enough to work on a 2008 flying spur flooded in hurricane sandy. The interior got wet up to the seat tracks and unfortunately I believe the car was driven into the salt water as the engine had hydrolocked and the turbos were toast. I sourced as many Audi A8 parts I could and a set of Phaeton front seat assemblies and front and rear comfort modules but I still had to buy many Bentley specific parts. The seats and all the massage and lumbar and climate parts were all redone in Bentley leather to the tune of $5k. Unfortunately, I had to replace the entire interior harness and engine harness assemblies with used parts due to corrosion in connectors and joint connectors The KESSY and steering column assembly, both ECUs and I installed a donor drivetrain from a wrecked conti GT and a entire new air suspension system and still had issues with coding and module communication. At the end of the day back in 2012, it was in fact cheaper to buy a CPO flying spur than take on this project. I genuinely wish you the best with this. I do have some insight on these cars if you need to reach out.

I occasionally will see an L or R but it isn't used by mechanics here. For example, here is a listing for a Honda Pilot Mirror. They are manufactured both LHD and RHD. In the USA this is how they are marketed. "Notes: Passenger side, Door Mirror Glass. Power. 7" Width. Diagonal: 7 1/2". Height: 5 1/8"."

Twice i have encountered failures of the ECM on Cummins QSB6.7 engines fitted in industrial applications, in both occasions the pins were all burnt out so i assumed there was an internal short circuit that caused the problem.. A few months later i encountered a third instance, but this time when i removed the ECM connector plug i noticed it was wet and there was a sweet smell coming from it. The liquid turned out to be antifreeze, it transpired the low coolant level sensor had failed structurally allowing coolant to pass the terminal seal and run down the wires inside the loom/harness all the way back to the ECM... So maybe the water you found in the controller entered the harness higher up and followed the wires back to the connector plug on the controller..

Sam, check the windshield seal. I have a '13 Audi TTRS and went through hell trying to sort out a major water leak into the passenger footwell from all the rain we had this past summer. Turns out the windshield seals go bad on this era of VAG products, especially with the expansion/contraction caused by the Florida heat/sun. Another common point of water ingress is the gas cap seal, had water under my rear seat as well, but the windshield makes sense for the driver or passenger footwell.

Hello, Sam! The electronic problems on these flooded module PCBs can, basically, be of two kinds: 1) Electrical issue. This is the easiest to fix. Clean the traces, the pads, apply new solder where needed, reflow some chips, remake a few traces, replace some damaged passive components like capacitors and resistors, done. 98% of chance for it to work just like before. 2) Damaged ICs due to short-circuit caused by water & 12V power source (battery). If we can find the chip to buy, and it's not a programmed chip, no problem. If an irreplaceable chip gets shorted - one that we don't have the firmware for it -, there's nothing you can do. You can't copy the data to another chip. You can't replace the rest of the board. The data inside the chip is gone, forever. You need some luck to recover these boards, even with a hardware-wise identical one. In the first case (electrical damage), feel free to send me the board and I can try to fix it for you for free. You don't even need to send a replacement board, I can try to fix the original one. There's only one caveat: I'm in Brazil, so the shipment will be both, expensive and slow 😁

Hi Sam thanks for another great video! I run the world's only dedicated KZbin channel for Bentley Continental GTs and have posted over 45 videos with servicing and repairs. It would be a massive boost to me if you would take a look, you never know - there might be something you find useful. One point though is the plug and coil change job, I did mine and I can honestly say it;s a biy of a mission as you have to remove the inlet manifold! Not the end of the world but looks a bit daunting. Be great to hear your feedback mate :) Nige of the North

Also remember that depending on how long the car been in water all the connections and cables gets water inside in the end and gets destroyed. They just wont carry the current as should

Sam is best at product placement, better than Ron Popeil.
