CAN WE TALK ABOUT CLEANSE?

This is me rambling about how Honkai Star Rail Community seems to value cleanse to the point it felt like it is an obsession. I don't deny that it can save runs and it has utility, but it has it place. if every healer have cleanse it'd be nice, but it'd be very boring, variety will go a long way in a team building game.

The point is that most fights posing a problem is because they are inflicing crowd controls debuffs while having a tight dps check. Obviously bailu has value and is far from as dysfunctionnal has qiqi in genshin, but I'd rather get Eidolons on the other very strong standard characters (Bronya/Himeko/Clara) rather than a very situational healer. Most fights posing a problem don't even require a cleanse, but more like a CC resistance like the one in fu xuan's kit or the one in Lynx's E2. Right now, for the most part, the problem is reaching finishing up the fights within the cycle limits which has gotten really tight for a lot of accounts, and bailu doesn't help at all for people struggling for damage. As you say, yeah ruan mei helps with dmg, so why not play a healer like luocha or gallagher and get earlier breaks by applying even more damage to the ennemy's toughness bar ? It's obvious to me that Bailu is just seen as less valuable since she's getting powercrept by both units and game mechanics, while even scaling a lot worse than other standard five stars or other sustain 4 stars characters with eidolons.

Bailu carried the shit out of me in the early days, it was my 5star in the starting banner and was a good option but when i got fu xuan and linx i mean, why bother with her anymore?

You are right and i agree with you up until the scaling part. As i show the number in the video Bailu still outscaled Lynx interms pf provide EHP. Other 4 star sustains are March and Nat who is much more niche compare to Bailu. At one point after any player account built a couple of decent DPS unit. They will struggle with just surviving to let that well built dps do there job and end the game as soon as possible and Bailu is a great alternative for that. In the future when there is more stamima unit(refer to unit that recieved added benefit when maintained their HP above certain threshold dor example Himeko trace can be consider as such) add into the game her value and usage is likely going to increase.

​@@aceo6866 When I talk about scaling, I'm not just taking about EHP but overall utility. I have gallagher E6 and he's a monster with HTB on top of being a f2p luocha. Lynx gets a debuff resist on top of a teamwide cleanse, and e6 even adds effect res. I think that's much more polyvalent than having no way to prevent getting CC'd and losing dps. She also gets a tiny atk buff which isn't very significant but I guess it's alright. When I was thinking of better scaling, I was also thinking of the other permanent banner 5 stars. I have an E4 Himeko, an E2 Bronya and a E0 Clara and I'd rather get other eidolons on them rather than a Bailu (Clara outdpses argenti in every scenario according to sites like prydwen, and her E1 is a huge boost in dmg). Overall, I'm not even sure what kind of content would require the EHP that bailu offers outside of SU, which already has a lot of blessings and curios that help with sustain. I just cleared the new moc yesterday with Gallagher E6 and luocha on either side, one of them has the new elite that's week to fire and can put you to sleep so I'd rather have them perma broken, and the other side as kafka, who is pretty annoying with her myriad of debuffs as well. About units like himeko, I'd agree but you'd also need to have no major CC to cleanse/prevent. I used himeko on some sides this abyss, and Fu xuan was sometimes plenty enough to keep her hp high enough while running an aggro light cone (the energy regeneration blessing blessing obviously helped a lot as well). Overall bailu has her uses, I think it's just normal for people to rank her lower than characters like Gallagher or luocha that can just delay the ennemies before they even get a chance of applying their debuff + the ability to cleanse (+ the buff remover on luocha's ult is really helpful on elites like the shapeshifter). And when it comes to EHP, fu xuan and aventurine probably have her beat, on top of being very sp friendly.

​@@makomi3747 if we goes with utility Bailu 10% damage reduction is also there, one of the weakness of Abundance unit is that they are reactive, not proactive. if the enemy deal too much damage on their first turn(which thankfully isn't the case, yet) Bailu can and will be able to keep the team health alive while still being able to generate SP through her technique. i know that it is niche and isn't even exist yet, but the thing is every extra utility that isn't dmg/atk buff, energy generation or downright stopped enemy is, in itself, niche. as the game is dps check dealing more damage is favored. my video is about cleanse not Bailu. she just happen to be one of the two that doesn't posses the ability to cleanse, so i mentioned her in comparison to lynx because "the lack of cleanse make her bad" which i wholeheartedly disagree . they both have their own use case same goes for all defensive utility.

Less fights require cleanse these days and some bosses like the meme have cc you can't cleanse or resist anyway. Newer sustain characters also just make sure the CC does not happen to you in the first place. I have both Bailu and Lynx at a reasonably high level of investment and I need to wheel Lynx out when I either need to use Clara for some reason or if it is the swarm on a high floor that will kill you with wind sheer stacks. Bailu with talent invigoration and a single ult should get you through any fight assuming you actually have the appropriate amount of damage for the content you are playing. Also the revive is a cleanse.

@@aceo6866 I'd say you can get by on side 1 with bailu, but the first wave has the "tomorrow with harmonious chord" elite, and I've had runs where they would put one of my units to sleep. It skips the unit's turn if you don't get woken up by either an ennemy's attack or a cleanse.

TLDR. Cleanse is the only thing worth having in this game as a support/sustain or at the case of Aventurine he can give you enough resistance to your team to avoid being CC'ed. Since the future of this game isn't them giving mobs 1 shot capabilities. But adding Crowd control mechanics to slow you down. and cleanse or having enough effect resistance is the cure/solution for that.

I think nowadays you can definetly use Bailu and it is fine. I have Bailu on one side and Fu Xuan in the other and I have been getting 36* on every MoC for the last 3/4 ones. The only MoC that I struggled to survive a little was last one (Cocolia/Aventurine). Even then, revive can save you if things go badly and it is fine. It is the best? No, by far. Huo huo, Fu, Aventurine and even Luocha is better. It is bad? Nah, I don't think so

I wasted mats on Bailu despite liking her and it cost me dearly in the end so I just quit. You can’t just build faves and expect them to work in HSR.

Bailu has cleanse once you die you get revive there no more debuffs/DoT but she can only use it once.

I got Bailu twice!!!! From from beginning 5★ banner and after losing 50/50 and had no Idea how bad she was 😭 I would have rerun if I knew sooner but now it's too late

Dots are a debuff that need cleansing, while balui can heal the lost hp she will not remove the dots, which are the major threat to your party

Not really i just used Bailu in MOC10, against Swarm Boss and i still doing just fine. My team doing that was Tingyun Bailu DHIL Hanya. Admittedly there is some "that was too close to my comfort zone" moment, but I still 3-stared that floor.

Can’t watch the video without constantly pausing. Bailu has merits, but she’s ultimately an rng healer. And no one wants to roll the dice on whether they’ll survive or not.

If you need to use skill points on a built healer whose ultimate full aoe heals, your team is already failing regardless of the healer slot

I'm verry sorry about the audio quality. I don't have any decent microphone(in the middle pf working to buy one). All in all, you should treat Bailu heal as ST heal skill, the other two random hit as a bonus. Her value came from insane amount of heal she provide from ult and 10% damage reduction and one time revive in case of things went really bad or allow player yo do some dumb stuff like trade revive for potentially conserve one cycle(sadly this is a very niche case the only fight i can think of is that blue/purple monkey) Also thank you for put up with my shitty video ;-;

Supports that doesn't give you cleanse removal or any buffs are pretty much useless in this game. Since the most tame / easiest way they can bump difficulty is by giving mobs CC debuff to stun or interrupt our units. So Bailu is just trash af. Look at Aventurine. If he couldn't at least give us enough Resistance to avoid being CC'ed hed be more worse than people would think. That's why GEpard is also unusable. The thing is most end game content requires you to "FINISH STAGES AS FAST AS POSSIBLE", she ain't helping you if half ur team is dominated, stunned or frozen. Useless af. No matter how good ur heals are. Also revive? bruh the moment your units are dying and needs reviving means you're doing something VERY VERY wrong. Also at that point just place a new extra buffer instead and clear everything on single cycle. The thing is Bailu is very useless of a character since she also can't buff your team. Unlike HuoHuo that can give a teamwide atk% buff. Not to mention Gallagher exists now and he is much viable due to super break being introduced.

That sounds like your skill issue. almost all of the limited 5* dps unit damage is so high you can comfortably clear MOC within 10 cycles with just buff from two support in hypercarry comp(maybe not Blade, but even then there's still a match up and circumstance that he can do 0 cycle) or you can just continuously break the enemy either interrupted/turn skip them in dual dps comp since you would deal more damage instance of toughness damage to enemy, or heck even corpo team(follow up team) might as well do the "kill enemy before it even act" consider how much free damage they have. and please tell me how many boss and elite that pose a threat of cc? if you don't know you can rewatch my video then add the new trio boss into that amount. the point of the video isn't even about bailu and gepard. that is a byproduct of the topic and why did you mentioned one of the reason in the video for "why cleanse isn't that important"?

My video is, first and foremost, about cleanse. Defending bailu(and gepard) come as a second as she(and he) doesn't provide cleanse. If we want to talk the real big pp sustain unit that everone in their mother is going to use we talk about Fu Xuan and Aventurine. Those two provide both insane amount of EHP, potential toughness bar break and DEBUFF IMMUNITY, not cleanse. Preventation is always better than cure. Which is coincidentally my other video in the making.
