One thing that really does help, although it seems so minor, next time you get a car with wheel covers, use a satin black spray paint on the steel wheels before you put caps on - it really does make it look so much better! Suggestion if one near you to save money is go to a junkyard and get the OEM hubcaps for cheaper. I did this with my 03 Sentra back in HS I got the original hubcaps from a crashed Sentra for $15. I had to remove them myself but it was worth it. I got some other items at the wreckers too, I got the center console armrest, and I the upgraded visors. I like the OEM hubcaps because in order to remove them you have to remove the lugnuts, so they can’t be easily stolen.

Thanks for sharing your tips on how to spruce up your vehicle for a small budget. One thing I'd recommend to your readers is to always clean up your car from the inside - first the inside glass surfaces with a microfiber cloth (Walmart/dollar store), then the plastic or wooden parts like the dashboard, center console, door jambs, handles, button controls, bottle/cup holders, etc., & then move onto the dirtiest part of the cabin, i.e the carpets, cargo mats or foot controls. If you do it in any other manner, the dirt & dust from the carpets/cargo mats will go to the cleaner areas. A clean cabin always perks up any car, no matter how old or new it is.

For outside cleaning, when cleaning the outside body, tires, roof or car body panels, always do it in steps, not all at once. First rinse it, apply soap with a microfiber hand mitt or a non-abrasive tool, wash it off, & then use a dry microfiber towel & rub it gently to remove watermarks. You can apply polish if you have it along with more microfiber towels. Also, on all high-mileage vehicles having more than 75-80 K miles, wait until you have about a quarter of fuel left in your fuel gauge/tank, then pour a bottle of B-12 chemtool cleaner (Walmart/Amazon) to clean the entire fuel tank, fuel supply lines, fuel rail on the engine, fuel injectors, old spark plugs, pistons & lower cylinders of old fuel residues, gum & varnish deposited over the years. You will notice the effects within 20-25 miles of driving. Some people are a fan of Seafoam, Liquimoly or Techron, but nothing works to dissolve old fuel residues like B-12 chemtool, but don't touch or inhale it while pouring, it's very strong, so pour it in an open area using a funnel fitted into your fuel tank.

I bought some very nice alloy wheels to mount the Michelin Defenders the car came with. That factory 15 inch wheel covers really do look nice on it. It may be 20 years old, but the original owner drove it 20 years and put 100,000 miles on the clock. Consider she was forced to stop driving at age 95, the amount and frequency of use was perfect. I kust admit I am more than pleasantly surprised with the old car. Who knows. Maybe I will be driving Yoda until I'm 95.
