CAN WE TURN CHEAP CRAYOLA MARKERS INTO EXPENSIVE COPIC MARKERS?

Can we turn crayola markers into copic markers? I am working from the Marker Maker Kit and trying different methods to make these into blendable expensive markers. Can Crayola Copics win vs copic Markers? This is a cheap alternative for alcohol markers that are longterm refillable, environmentally friendly, cheaper, and customizable.

You reveal your age by saying the rubbing alcohol "smells like the doctor's office". I remember as a kid this was true, but it's been many years since I've been in a doctor's office that smelled like that. They don't use alcohol in doctor's offices anymore to sterilize, because there are now superbugs that laugh off the alcohol as if it was nothing. The newer sterilization solutions don't have strong scents. Great video, Jackie. Good for you for thinking creatively and coming up with DIY Copic markers!

when I was in art school I used to buy those cheap brush-tip coloring pens and would open the back and use a syringe to put alcohol in it. It worked pretty well and some cheap sets actually have decent colors. You can even do it with dollar store pens. Best trick I ever learnt for cheap coloring pens

If you want lighter shades, just add more alcohol and less overall pigment. Also, a colourless blender is just pure alcohol. So you can make a marker without any pigment in it, and it slightly lightens the shades!

I think you can get shimmery marker ink by mixing in a little mica powder. If someone gets to try this before me, let me know how it works. I have hypothesized for quite a while, after obtaining a kit from pearlex for making metallic effect calligraphy ink that I could use the same procedures to get alcohol ink by swapping the water for alcohol. Have not tried it yet, but I can't see why it wouldn't work.
