In the last 2yrs renowned channels in youtube like Dr. Bindra, Soch by Mohak, Powertrain, and Study IQ IAS etc made multiple videos to portray WB as a graveyard and Bengalis added spice in the comment section of those videos to make a mockery of their state, city, and identity. The majority of these channels have political motives. Why do I say that ? Take any report or survey on financial parameters done by RBI or the Finance dept. of Govt. of India. Compare the latest statistics with respect to the year 2011. You would surprisingly see the upward curve in almost all the vital parameters. But, all the major digital and print media never highlight these. Some things are definitely not good in our state. We all understand that. But, not everything. At least not the financial parameters. This state has grown a lot in the state finance sector. Can you believe the state's GDP has increased to almost 3 times the values it used to be in 2011 ? How many channels have reported this ? They will say that the state's debt has increased from INR 2 lac crore to INR 5 lac crore. It is true. But, they won't report that in today's world debt is not measured. What is measured is the debt to GSDP ratio. And this ratio has decreased from 44% to 34% in just 10 years. They will hide the truth and people will buy whatever they say. A lot more has to be done. You can't change the nothingness of 4-5 decades in just 1 decade. Dr. Amit Mitra has silently done a lot for the state's finance. Green shoots are there. Now it's up to the newly formed government whether it wants to carry forward the good work.

Kolkata is not a dying city. Yes, it lost it's past glory due to various socio-political causes & has its challenges & problems which it has to overcome but still better than most of the hyped & fancied cities in most parameters. It's just the negative perception being created about our city by some vested groups.

I would rather just not say "... by some vested groups." It was done by us only. And it has reasons. Nobody can deny the fact that industry lost its business interests in Kolkata during the 70s, 80s and 90s. Businesses ran away from Bengal that time. This is a fact, and the perception after that is also true. So why blame "some vested groups" ? The bad works done by the then state governments have created this perception. The good work being done by the current state government will change the perception again. But, that will take some time. Whichever industry comes first will reap the early benefits.

@@shantanu991 I think that's what he actually meant, the CPIM The thing to laugh at is, the government which threw all the industries away and thus created a negative image, are teaching how to do bussiness I don't know if they know what people say when we earlier talked about industries in kolkata All of them were straight forward in saying, " Industries are not coming to kolkata because of the COMMUNIST mindset " Right after 2011 the policies were changed and the digitization of the land acquisition process was done so that the companies can get land much faster but there remained the mindset too however it took some time, but the industries are now seeing kolkata as a fruitful destination in a lot brighter way Still the fact of the matter stays at the point that the children of the previous government, have formed SFI which is instrumental in portraying a negative image even now Plus there is BJP which is a completely agenda oriented party

Some additional info ... Although Bata , Britannia have their registered office in Kolkata but their corporate HQ is in Delhi and Bangalore respectively. We might not know EIH is second largest hotel chain after Taj Group ... It used to have HQ in Mangoe Lane in Kolkata. Berger Paints too have HQ in Kolkata which is next in line in revenue terms after Asian paints. But there are some most prominent names who operate from they are Sabyasachi, Anamika Khanna , Turtle & Manyavar. These brands are well known all over India and some are numero Uno in their sector. Sabyasachi is exceptional as it's so huge even LVMH also invested in that company . Thumbs up for this video.

Durgapur and Siliguri ke aro onek besi gurutto dite hobe. These two places can really change the fascia of West Bengal. Durgapur and Siliguri both have the capacity to have quality commercial, real estate and IT. Infra needs to be of higher quality in these 2 cities.

Don't know about Durgapur, but Siliguri is booming by leaps and bounds! That city is now getting luxury condominium apartments worth 2 crores and above, something that you hear only in Metro cities! Can you imagine? Unfortunately Kolkata and South Bengal people (let alone rest of India) have very little idea about Siliguri's rapid growth rate today. It'll soon have one of India's longest flyovers/elevated corridors, a complete circle Ring Road (first in WB), already has a bunch of 5 star hotels and resorts, about to get many many more, highest number of malls in Eastern India after Kolkata, highest number of International schools and premium schools in Eastern India after Kolkata, about to get Bengal's first Greenfield Access Controlled Expressway (Gorakhpur - Siliguri), the city's Bagdogra airport is already on its path to become an International Terminal (expansions and major revamp underway), and a Metro has also been proposed! Siliguri is becoming a major real estate destination for investment (not for end-sale/residencial purchase as is the case in Kolkata). Owing to rapidly developing connectivity infrastructure, the city is also growing as a thriving Logistics Hub. The city is also becoming a launchpad for many local start-ups. Siliguri is silently and discreetly booming ahead, and I won't be surprised if it gives other big cities of East India (Guwahati, Patna, Ranchi etc.) a run for their money. And Siliguri shall attract more customers and investments in the future as an alternative to Kolkata - as it has a more pleasant weather and living conditions than the capital city.

Yes it's true west bengal is slowly improving and shedding it's past bad name of being a dying city but a lot of improvement needs to be done new policies should be implemented which will ensure attraction of new industries. Semiconductor manufacturing is the hot cake of industry at the moment state government should work on bringing a semiconductor manufacturing company into the state like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat are doing Kolkata needs to prepare for future industries.

It really hurts 😢 when the 1st thing somebody says knowing that I'm a bengali "O mamta didi!...Pejle Bangalio ka kitna izzat tha..ab koi pasand nahi karta..etc" I've lived in Bhandup, Mumbai & Altinho, Goa for 2 months..and heard this thrice from autowalas..though felt a little bad then but eventually ignored them. Flourishing? How? no Big Central Unit of any company opened in West Bengal in past ten years (except Bandhan Bank), only some eastern region regional HQ opened, not because Kolkata is regaining but because it's still the best city in eastern India. But with time it will change as Bhubaneswar, guwahati and patna is catching up the game, and yearly investment data in Orissa is just jaw dropping. It will surely replace West Bengal as a go to state in Eastern India. What we need is a investment friendly state government, hope this tyrant rulling of TMC end and WB will recover. Very much true. I must add here the equality of freight rule imposed by then central government had a bigger consequence than it was ever highlighted. We always stood as supporters of political parties but we never stood together as Bengalis. Sad story. We never supported Jyoti Basu to be the Prime Minister of the country (perhaps a Bengali PM could have done something for the previous injustices towards his state), neither did his party stand behind Buddhadeb Bhattacharya to reform the state. For once we need to stand unified (for the sake of our state) as Japan did after World War II.

Recently I have seen few videos from well known KZbin channels quoting Kolkata as a dying city but I have always said that like every other city there are several problems in this city too but we also have been doing pretty good in the recent past. A small tip to Rohit Da don’t make this types of videos too small as I felt the things highlighted in this video went in a rush. From next video please talk slowly and make the video a bit longer.

Lam research opened its R&D facility in bangalore today. Its one of many global companies that was never interested to open its office in Kolkata. I am not into politics but its need deep self introspection and research why Kolkata cant attract even top IT companies, where it is growing at a snail pace.

Good info. But, I guess, these kinds of institutions find suitable places where talent finding is easy. Bangalore is blessed with this. Plus it has IISc also. Lam Research was present in Bangalore from last 2 decades. They just expanded their operations in the same city. Why not Kolkata ? Lack of relevant talent and talent finding ecosystem. A world renowned chip making company had set up their shop in Kolkata way back in 2006. They had to close down in 2008 as they couldn't find much relevant talents here. It is sad, but true. I wish Kolkata grows sustainably; and definitely not like Bangalore. By the way, did you know Kolkata will be having India's first private quantum computing lab very soon ? These things never get highlighted. I am not criticizing you. The only thing I am saying is, very lately the government has decided to be pro-industry (and of course, I don't know why not early) and we are seeing different IT companies opening their offices in Kolkata, industries in the districts. Cheer for this change at least. If we don't cheer for us who will ?

@@shantanu991 Bangalore is 2nd tier city with poor infrastructure, horrible civic amenities and where billionaires have to go in tractors as flood waters spoilt their million dollar cars and houses. Land prices in Bangalore is cheaper but civic amenities is pathetic, traffic snarls are frustrating. Doctors have to leave their cars and run to their hospital to treat patients who too were held up in ambulances. Big smake has not aware of the presence of various research institutes in Kolkata, well he should be better aware.

West Bengal is always criticised by some sections.People says because of leftist strike in industry,load shedding,millitant leftist movement,land problem .....industry left west bengal.Now there is no strike in industry,no load shedding,no millitant union,no land problem( because visionary State Govt has already created land bank) ,but still some section say because of Mamata ,industrialist are not coming as TaTa was left.But Mamata never asked TATA to left bengal but asked to return the excess land to the unwilling peasants.It was her political adventure but she never thaught that TATA will go out of Bengal.She never thaught some hyana sitting in gujrat was observing the development and sent some agent to favour Mamata in her activity. And he was busy in discussion with TATA to shift the project at Sanand with some benecifial projects. It is the hard reality on ground that people are too shrude for development of only one state by invoking the weakness of the state.Now there is no land problem,no labour problem,no electricity problem but people says Mamata is the problem.This sections of people always spread rumours and negativity about the state. I am apolitical but want to mention that in no other state BJP is as millitant as Bengal.In other states BJP leaders help the state Govt bring projects in their states but it is opposite in West Bengal.Because of leaders personal ambitions common people of west Bengal always suffered. And west bengal is always suffered because of certain people always trying to find fault of west bengal.I hope people of should think and introspect.

Kolkata is now in between level 1 and level 2 Indian city. Infrastructure , roads has much improved in last 10 years compared to 1990 till 2010. But rest of Indian cities did improve 2 x times in same timeline. But no big investment like foxcomm or IOCl of 5000 to 10000 cr range or above.... So taking loan base based development do not last

Due to earth quake issues, they didn't had many big towers, but still their urbanization is way better planned than ours. I liked the English vernacular approach and it is greatly appreciable as it will be likely and easily disemminable to the rest of the country among all the netizens. More to say what he has tried to cover in such a short span barring some wrong facts like "15000 industries had closed down in west bengal which is completely a distorted fact to gain some vested impression among people and spread some distorted news done by many in the past and needs to be corrected. I don't blame Rohit for this. This was a distorted fact to spread some inequality in information as this news has been cobbled up taking some utilities and shops which also come under industries establishment act while the state has 17000 big and mid scale industries and rapidly growing. 89lakh soon reaching 90lakhs in smes is right info. There are less than 400 closed industries in the state overall and many efforts are being taken to set up newer ones in their places. But it will take time. Other states have industries closing in the range of 1500 approx in Maha closing in flat 2years. Shifting of hqs are common in all cities including Mumbai where Tatas have shifted the AI hq to Gurgaon. Many new hqs have been established in the state like Tata Sponge and expected ITC infotech shifting hqs to Calcutta from Bangalore. Rest in growth now. It is a well progressive state and no doubts about it. It has been duly defamed owing to vested interests as similar such nuisance happens in other states as well. No reason for carving out WB.
