I have had an EcoFlow Wave for about 5months, I did the maths and came up with the same solution that it can be used to keep a tent or camper cool if you have the right size batteries to run it . the EcoFlow was a Lifesaver over christmas holidays kept us nice and cool at night when we went to bed. we were the envy of the campgrounds

People hate generators but they are the best long term way of running an air conditioner. It is hassle free and much cheaper to set up. We had a split system in one of our caravans and could run it on a 2kva. We lived in that van for months at a time so being comfortable was essential. Caravans don't have to be expensive. That one was just 10k second hand.

Agreed, and a Honda EU20 is basically silent when you're away from it. Much better than spending 10k on solar blankets, inverters and lithium batteries.

You are right there, people do hate the constant humming and fumes of generators and for good reason.
@asicit6789

People who use a generator within earshot of any other camper are the epitome of selfishness. Don’t be surprised if one day while on a day excursion you come back to camp and find your generator destroyed.

The heat is in the middle of the day, using a Honda with extension cord is unnoticeable at that time, it’s only annoying at night, I’ve done the Maths

Make no apologies, my friend! I run a Zero Breeze MkII which I bought with 2 lithium batteries (about 6.5 hours run time on sleep mode per battery) for use in my OGT Expedition 2.0 and it's a bit of a game changer. In Texas, when it's 108F/42C outside during the day and never drops below 94F/34C at night, you need all the cooling you can get! Unlike a canopy set up, there are advantages to the hard shell in that once it's cooled down, it remains that way longer than a tent. Unfortunately that also means that it also stays warmer, too, taking longer to cool things down initially. The biggest thing to consider with portable AC units is the BTUs. The ZB MkII is only 2300, which is not exactly great when you consider the average car AC is 10,000 BTUs, so the performance is not as impressive in comparison.

Oh dear Harry, we knew that camper trailer was a slippery slope, now one step closer to a caravan 😂. I see what you are doing there adding all the individual widgets on... Only kidding you deserve it mate, it's ok to be soft after hard yards earned. Plus you can always cook outside on a fire before retiring inside to your home on wheels ay & we will all still adore you

I'm amazed with your "maths" . As an electrician you're on the right track. If redarc do a stand, then you can follow the sun. The angle makes a massive difference to output of a panel. Also, as you mentioned, the size of the cable contributes to the output aswell (voltage drop). Love the videos mate and mostly love that you, your wife, child and future child are living their best lives. Good luck with all future endeavours and hope to meet you all on the road one day for an amazing camp fire feed cooked by myself. Work to live, don't live to work. ❤

I have found fixed panels to be so much better than solar blankets. Recently did a test with 2 5yr old folding hard panels rated at 150w each. Wired in parallel. (Increases current supply but voltage is same as lowest panels). Results were fantastic. Enerdrive Pwm solar charger 30 amp, 120amp agm battery. Max oitput from each panel is 8.3amps. Highest recording was 15.5 amps at 4pm in Melbourne. Yes a very hot day for March but that was in full sun at that time, and glass was hot on both panels. Opps off topic a bit. Fixed panels allow the angle to the sun to be achieved a lot easier. If using solar blankets, need a way to create this angle. Remember, solar means always chasing the Sun.

Enjoying your vids from Riyadh, KSA. Just finished having Mrs. Jang's Brekkie and watching your latest ep. Retiring next year🤞and now we are keeping track of all your recipes and tips. Nothing worse than sweating all night when even a sheet is too much and all u want to do is SLEEP! Right now we plan on going to Columbus, Ohio - looking at a Kimberly Kamper - seems like a good choice, but my husband talks about going to Australia, buying a camper, traveling around Australia, and shipping the camper home to USA! A lot of math involved in that! Hopefully, we will start seeing Cubs sold in the States. We'd like to see u come to the US and meet up withTrailRecon. Another great channel. Give Fred a pat for us. The prob with portable AC is all that hot air you blow out the window the camper has to draw the same amount of hot outside air in to replace the air. Try putting the AC outside in the shade and only blowing the cold air in with a vent hose.

Solar blankets Voltex 200watt from Aldi currently on sale for $200. Using 3 is purchase price of $600, total of 600watts charging (practical tests about to be done). 200Amp/h battery lithium if you hunt around is under $1500. Solar charger to handle this. (Enerdrive) under $350. Dc to dc charger enerdrive under $400. Cabling purchased yourself to handle the currents with fuses, under $400. So yes expensive but not unachievable. Just means purchasing right produce st the right time, at right price.

The biggest change I did for our canvas camper was to string a big tarp up over the top. It takes about 30 mins to do but only requires a heavy duty tarp and some poles. Massive difference inside the camper in winter and summer. Plus I have an instant awning that everyone can sit under. Simple maths it makes sense to go the tarp.

The Johnson family loved to go camping. They would pack up their car with all of their camping gear and head out to the woods. One of their favorite things to do was to cook over an open fire. They would roast hot dogs and marshmallows and make s'mores. One day, they decided to make chili for dinner. They had brought all of the ingredients with them, but they realized that they had forgotten their measuring cups and spoons. They didn't want to drive all the way back into town to get them, so they had to figure out how to measure everything without them. They decided to use math! They knew that there were 16 tablespoons in a cup, so they used that as a guide. They also knew that there were 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon, so they used that as well. They were able to make the chili perfectly and it was delicious! They all sat around the fire and enjoyed their meal together.

Hi Harry, Once again a great clip and very informative, I continue to do the Maths when using my solar blanket as well and the variables are endless. But I have found that tipping the solar blanket towards the sun or hanging it on the side of the car helps maybe you could hand a panel on the side of the camper and block some of the sun but also use it as well. Good video but not sure I agree with the effectiveness of AC in the middle of a hot day in full sun in a camper. I installed a Truma Saphir in our Drifter and if we can get the camper sides shaded by trees etc its awesome. But even with the Minlaton blanket, if its in full sun, the AC has no hope of keeping up except when the sun is directly overhead. Temps rise to unusable levels, no doubt the extra canvas on the Drifter makes it worse though. To put out toddler down for a nap we have to direct the AC directly onto them, which is similar to what you are doing with the ecoflow pointing into the sleeping area, the rest of the camper is a no-go zone (which keeps the 7 year old out....). I still think its worth it for us while we are living in the Pilbara, just not sure its as good as your video makes out.
