35 + years tripping, I am still learning! I run a 35l frig set as a freezer only, but I also bring a small cooler. Just move frozen foods to the cooler once a day, & cooler stays cold.

We bought a telescopic lamp that has a dimmer switch that I love. Lights up a huge area when you need it & a nice soft light when you want, which is most of the time. Takes two secs to put up & love the flexibility of where you can put too. Ginger & chilli freeze really well if needed. Two years since 1st book? Must be time for the 2nd!

Be prepared was the advice from my folks all those years ago and it worked back then, and it still works now. It can piss you off but preparation saves time and money and marriages.

Great tips!! A tip I learnt about how to store lettuce from a Cruise Ship Chef now working on a transport ship. Coss Lettuce (being small) wrap in paper towel so it's all covered. Place in a large Zip Lock bag, about A4 size. Roll up tight getting all the air out & lock. Place in your fridge. Give it a go. I have managed 3 weeks so far before they go off.

Preparation is definitely the one, I haul a luggage trailer fully set up so I can park it up and go wheeling on the ranger and don't have to worry about the weight

Even if youre only going away a couple of times a year, a vac sealer (food saver or similar) is one of the best investments you can make. They make trip preperation so much easier and you'll be surprised how much you use it day to day

Good tips re drawers, had side by side drawers and fridge slide, removed drawers, installed drawer fridge and shelf over top, now use plastic boxes and bags depending on trip, so much more space. Dont miss the drawers at all and saved about 70kg

preparation is key. id highly recommend buying your own criovac machine and bags. I did for pre cooking a fishing etc, perfoct for stacking all your pre cooking meals and fish fillets etc. Great vid Harry

Good info mate. Im slowly doing a trailer build for bigger trips and family ones which I plan to put a 70L or so fridge/freezer in along with a water tank. I have a 30L drawer fridge in the Pajero and have to say it works a treat. I've done a week camped solo with that just replacing water & beers as I drink them. Food stayed frozen for up to 4 days (Frozen at home before going away). I love the drawer fridge though as I can have things on top and beside it or as my set up is have it built into my drawer system that forms my bed so it is out of the way but convenient when needed. I generally cook pretty basic meals but have done a couple from your book and the 30L fridge still does me very nice especially for a weekend. I need to work out a better pantry though, mostly mine is Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Salt, Pepper & Crushed Garlic.
