Can You Beat Borderlands with One Attack Per Foe?

What is a one shot? What is a shot at all? Of course, mileage may vary in that regard, there is the far more simplistic question to ask and answer. Leaning into the more unique weapons and abilities that the game has to offer, I wanted to take on something we could all agree on in a single attack per enemy in my wake.
Rules:
1. Enemies must die in one button push. Skills, guns, melee, etc. Doesn't matter. One button. One kill.
2. While exploits are allowed for things like farming, I will not for things like damage buffs.
3. In the event that an enemy survives, the area must be reset via exiting to the menu or the game entirely.

I see a lot of people do this and a strangely high amount don't go for Mordecai Lethal Strike + Lethal strike boosting class mod, which I'm pretty sure is some of if not the highest damage you can deal in 1 attack

@dracotoy in Borderlands 1 corrosive actually does less than explosive to Mad Mel. LvL 40 (peak lvl for Knox DLC normal) Revolver Mordecai can one shot Mad Mel with a Detonating Law Edit: Also, you can't crit Mad Mel so you can only do half health at most with a caustic sniper

it was always so goofy to me that mordecai has the highest melee dmg in the game, which might be the highest dmg per any hit in the game, when his focus was accurate guns and a bird, and theres two whole other characters that have more melee skills 😭

I think when it comes to the rules, its best to imagine it as a turn-based game For the turret, throwing it out takes your turn. From there, it attacks on it's own, not taking your turn, thus, it's one attack For burst weapons, one burst = one turn it's an interesting little thing

Surely, one attak per foe, but the one attack doesnt have to kill, just ignore them if you fail to kill them in a single hit, i know that wont apply to required kills, but it cuts down on map resets :3

You actually can launch Flynt into the death plane, it just requires a skullmasher with the jakobs xx material, which increases knockback. With that, by landing every pellet you can launch him off the oil rig from his spawn point.

You can one shot every main story boss with Revolver Mordecai with the exception of Rakk Hive and Destroyer. I will edit the post later with the math, but the most i was able to do to Destroyer a little more than 80000 damage. Unfortunately, Destroyer has 99500 health. See the calculations below Edit: Skills: 5 in Focus, 5 in Killer, 5 in Carrion Call, 5 in Tresspass, 5 in Gun Crazy, 8 in Deadly, 5 in Riotous Remedy, 9 in Relentless Gun: LVL 36 Pearl Chimera 639 with x4 Explosive Destroyer eye crit damage:5+1.25 ( from Deadly) (Damage Formula) Output = (((NormalHit *(1+ SpecMult) * CriticalHit) * ElemBonus) + SplashDamage) * TypeMod)) For easy calculations, I will exclude TypeMod, Splash Damage is just 100% of total damage before Crit and elemental bonus, GunCrazy will just be a 2x multiplier at the end (2 Bullets per shot from Mordecai Skill Tree) for Revolvers. This formula is a bit generalized but gets you close to the actual damage number Output = (((639 * (1+0.4+1.8) * 6.25) * 3) + 2045) * 2 Total Damage = 80770

I do have to wonder about the Destroyer's health. In a single damage proc, I was seeing up to around forty thousand with Bloodwing during testing, and it was barely even chipping the healthbar. Also, I wanted to avoid legendaries that are unreliable to get if I could help it. World drops in the first game were certainly a choice.

@SpuddyCube There is a cheat engine cheat table in Borderlands GOTY Enhanced that let's you look at enemy HP and other stats. I used it to help with testing different builds for one shot runs. I do understand not wanting to rely on World Drop weapons. That same Cheat Engine table has a script for hotkey rerolling shops instead of save quiting ( also if you run to the vehicle spawner in Fyrestone after doing the merchant of death exploit you can force a save). There are some other contenders like explosive Unforgiven or Anaconda. You can also go for a 3x Explosive Law which can one shot Mad Mel at LVL 37 as it doesn't need the Killer skill but does need 9 points in Relentless from the Gunslinger class mod. Overall, the rng required to get a oneshot with this setup isn't the worst, but not great. You have to get a 15% chance for the 3x explosive damage on top of a 45% chance for Gun Crazy on top of 25% chance for Relentless.

I forgot to mention you could try using the Violence legendary you get at the beginning of the game from the GOTY enhanced version. I haven't tested it, the only issue I can see is it being too low lvl so not enough damage

Realistically, I only tended to need shotguns, survivability, or turret performance. There aren't enough points to do all of them at once, so I was usually sort of between a couple of builds. Leaving the points open meant I'd be able to change without going to a change station while in the field.

Direct hex editing wasn't necessary, I'm pretty sure the application WillowTree, a save editor for Borderlands 1, has pretty much every functionality you might need. Maybe it doesn't have a few more obscure features one might want, but it has tons.
