having not attempted the challenge or really played the game just going by the video alone from what i say i think theres around 10 boxes that could easily be shaved down just from better positioning and jumping like some of the box walls and some of the check point boxes you hit going from how the pillars looked (and i could be wrong) looked like with a good postioned jump you could land next to the box. and if you remove the boxes broken by the boulders (as personally i wouldnt count them as they're 100% unavoidable unless you directly removed the boxes via use of a level editor, and the ripper roo boxes you could probably complete the game with around 50 boxes give or take

Bit of a note, for BOTH bridge levels, you can stand on the ropes, pretty much mastered it quick on my first go round. Should help with a few of those problems.

Don't care if this video is a year and a half old. Only saw it today and just spent the past 3 hours doing it myself. I was able to get it down to 29 boxes with the following: JUNGLE ROLLERS: 3 GREAT GATE: 3 BOULDERS: 5 ROLLING STONES: 0 NATIVE FORTRESS: 3 UP THE CREEK: 0 RIPPER ROO: 3 TEMPLE RUINS: 0 ROAD TO NOWHERE: 0 BOULDER DASH: 7 SUNSET VISTA: 0 HEAVY MACHINERY: 0 CORTEX POWER: 0 GENERATOR ROOM: 0 LIGHTS OUT: 0 JAWS OF DARKNESS: 0 CASTLE MACHINERY: 2 THE LAB: 3 Some things to note is that the boulder in Boulder Dash hits 7 boxes yet he only adds 6 to his count. Also, he doesn't count the 3 tnt at the end of the lab (since if you get on the end platform before they explode you don't know you got them until the "you missed X boxes" screen). Meaning his final count should've been 78. Also, pretty sure the unknown boxes he got in the lab are the tnts surrounding a metal box. He probably spun the beaker thrower a little before. The enemy is near guaranteed to fly further into the level and blow up the tnt's when spun.

6:50 If you look in the background, you can see one of the wood things in the background doesn't have a spike, it skips a pretty big part of the level. Honestly it was surprising to see that skip NOT being used. I'm pretty sure you could've also avoided every box in the bridge levels by jumping on the rope and walking across that, and some of the boxes might have been able to jump around in side view sections but I'm not totally sure on that one. Good video though 11/10

2:00 I suspect that you could jump over the 3rd box (left to right). Since the one under it wouldn't break, you'd only break 1 box in that part. You could probably finish Road to Nowhere with 0 boxes (as opposed to 3; 9:45) by jumping on the ropes, like you did in The High Road (11:49). 13:01 There's a video by one Rick LeRoy finishing that level with 0 boxes and no light. So the 7 boxes you broke were avoidable.
