3.5 had a version of the Mailman sorcerer designed to avoid rolling under all possible circumstances. After all, the Mailman was so named for its commitment to consistency and reliability (and also for its ability to *deliver* impressive amounts of damage), and trading a bit of that damage for perfect consistency is all to the good. This also meant avoiding effects that allowed the possibility of a save; no save just die spells existed in that edition and were highly prized. There were other things like having a Dire Tortoise to guarantee a surprise round every encounter and abilities to always allow taking 10 on skill checks as well.

Or: For initiative, you can go around the table (DM + Another Player rolls, whoever is higher goes first.) In the case you want to deal damage, via saving throw fail, you can actually take average damage. Such as for fireball you can do 28 fire damage. In addition, there are auto hit spells such as magic missile, which you just take an average of 3 force damage per bolt (1d4+1)a You can also take the Yuan-Ti pureblood race since it does have immunity to poison and disease. Just some of my current thoughts that could also work! Never really thought about a no dice and game, thanks Blaine!!

You're a plague curing inventor, use a bag of holding and any bits of metal you find as an archaic flak cannon, use your 2nd infusion on something to help either trap check or cross pits, probably trapcheck, because going Tabaxi is a fun one. You could also give an ally a simple +1 to an item. Now you can attack without a roll (bag of holding debris shotgun is a dex save) and unplague your party, as well as be all the utility they'll ever need with mage hand, 3 infusions to swap out (assuming bag of holding is permanent), ritual casting, mending, and tool proficiencies

If you need to do damage, heal, and get across terrain it’s very simple be a tabaxi paladin warlock. The paladin can heal with no rocks using lay on hands the tabaxi can do all sorts of moving and grooving crap and the warlock just needs to attack when the enemy is unconscious or has an auto hit situation (depending on your dm these come in many forms) the warlocks spells will always hit at full power so no need to roll damage and initiative is taken out if it’s a sneak attack round

We used to use playing cards instead of dice because it kept the flow of the action. Three things: *1.* The player got a new set of cards each day based on their level and got to keep certain cards that they had won as rewards for excellent roleplaying. *2.* When dice were normally involved the DM would draw a card and determine the result (A = crit , etc. ) If damage needed to be random (2d4+1) and a 7 of clubs were draw, then that would equal a 2 whereas a court card would equal a 4 and so on. A table of card draws and die results could be used or the DM could wing it. *3.* The player's cards came in when they wanted to overrule the DM's draw, maybe to make a monster miss or to make a spell hit or affect the damage total or give success to a save or whatever. Since they have a limited number of cards each day, they had to choose carefully. The players still decided all their actions, but the randomized element was modified to speed up the game a bit. It worked well for those sessions and really improved combat, like *_a lot!_* However, not every table likes it and some people really just want to roll some f-ing dice, as one player said, " No dice, _no dice._ "

Bad day for the Drow, and problem solved with sense so common that it didn't even require any charisma checks.

I’m currently playing Curse of Strahd with 4 of my friends, one of whom is the DM. I’m playing a Light Cleric, and this video made me realize just how busted Ceremony’s vague wording is. I want to point out some of the vagueness issues present in JUST the Wedding Ceremony: “You touch *Adult Humanoids willing to be bonded together in marriage.* For the next 7 days, each target gains a +2 bonus to AC *while they are within 30 feet of each other.* A creature can benefit from this rite again *only if widowed.* “ •”Adult Humanoids” is the first condition specifying which targets are applicable. Note that it doesn’t specify that the marriage has to be monogamous. Any number of adult humanoid targets within applicable range when the spell is cast (10 feet) are potential targets for this spell as long as they satisfy the second condition. •”Willing to be bonded together in marriage” is also an incredibly easy to satisfy condition. Not only does it mean an enchanted creature who is forced to comply would be a valid target, but it would also extend to any PC whose player knows it isn’t a real marriage, and that they’re just participating in this for the bonus. •”while they are within 30 feet of each other” if you remember our first stipulation that basically allows us to form a marriage between the entire party, then this means that each participant’s bonus will last as long as they are within 30 feet of *any* other involved party member •”only if widowed” this one your DM might actually put their foot down on. Hypothetically (again considering the polygamy scenario), if there is even a SINGLE PC death at ANY point after the Wedding Ceremony, this would technically Widow EVERY OTHER PC involved in the marriage, freeing the caster up to repeat the entire ceremony all over again.

I have a very specific build that refuses math rocks. The All Skills Mastermind Rogue. At level 11 you have a minimum of a 16 to all skill checks so you most likely will get away with your DM letting you not roll and just succeed by default. Then you focus your action and bonus action on taking the Help action and you are done!
@LiveLNXgaming4 жыл бұрын
I ran a game where you only had 1 D20 and the story unfolded based on that one die. What I mean is that there was no math to get a final number. If you were good at a skill a 10 would be better and if you were bad at it, but context meant the most. It was story and context driven, the one dice role was also only used when an npc would have sway over the result. An archer, who is very good at archery, taking a shot from the dark at a target just standing there would not have to role because thats not a difficult thing for them to do. However if they are in combat and the target sees it coming they could possibly dodge or be moving to fast and that makes the shot have a variable that the archer cant control as well. Thats where the dice role comes in and its dependent on the exact context and no math is done. But damage was also not number based, it was focused on what actually happens. A great axe hit may just kill an enemy where an arrow may not but may make that enemy not be able to move as well. No HP, just physical wounds, all dependent on context and my story telling ability.

How to deal with saving throws: refuse to roll for it. That will make the save an auto-fail, but you won't have to touch the math rock!

Sounds like Roger Zelazny's diceless Amber RPG. It's all based on a point system, and the DM has to say if you succeed or not. It has it's pros and cons. If you have a party that has to follow bread crumbs, it won't work. The party has to have a good imagination.

How about using some advice from Disney. Start a dalmatian plantation. You can use your pets to hunt down all low level monsters afflicting your city and to obtain the massive amount of food required to feed and armor your pets. Your pets will obviously breed, so the fewer that die or abandon you the stronger your plantation becomes. Congratulations your gaming strategy is a cross between a necromancer and a Pokémon master.
