The ultimate deterrent of all you can eat buffets are other people and their kids touching the food. Oh, and the insane amount of sodium in the food.

There are several buffets near me and in san antonio, like the asia buffet. It isn't the best, but it still tastes alright.

Sure everyone ignores electrum, but from what I've seen my entire gaming life, everyone basically ignores silver and copper too, so, is it really THAT bad?

Why the hell would an all-you-can-eat buffet have waiters? The whole appeal of going to those places, besides gluttony, is that you don't have to deal with wait staff or have them socially pressure you to pay them a bunch of money to do the bare minimum of their job and talk to you for a total of 90 seconds while you're there. I don't like all-you-can-eat buffets, but not having to give $20 to a lazy person for doing the bare minimum of their job to make sure they don't spit in your food is one of the good things about going there (not that I ever dined out much anyway, cause F**K tip culture.) I'm currently not in the US right now, and the Korean all-you-can-eat buffets are much better, although it's still a once-a-year thing at most.

Pizza Hut UK still has the weekday lunch buffet which makes most of its business. It’s just as sad and miserable as the American one.

Pizza Hut in Kenton, Ohio still has their buffet. Golden Corral in Lima, Ohio still has pretty good food. East of Chicago, Ada, Ohio, has a lunch time buffet(pizza and salad) and I always thought it was pretty good.

yeah.. no.. if it was 15 years ago maybe you could get hacked like that on public wifi, nowadays? no, unless they go through an incredibly convoluted setup process which would involve actually finding the router and they had many years of IT experience and the sites you're visitin aren't secure (of which 99% are secure) pretty much only use vpns to bypass geo blocks, useless for security in most cases.

I love buffets. Not for over-consumption, but for the variety of small servings of multiple dishes. I seldom "got my money's worth." It's especially good for the salad bar.

Hello, fellow North Carolinian! I distinctly remember going to Golden Corral many times as a child, but going significantly fewer times as I got older. Mainly because one time I saw a little fat kid continuously eating with his bare hands out of the chocolate fountain they had. I also remember that there was that claim that they were “recycling” their old food by mixing it into the newer food, and it killed any of my desire to go back.

I've been known to "enjoy" a buffet from time to time. Cici's Pizza was my go-to when my kids were younger. Way back, I could feed all five of them and myself there for under $20. Gradually, it got more and more expensive, to the point where the buffet with drinks, and a little spending money for the game room, was a guaranteed $70+ excursion. Now, we have Mr. Gatti's nearby; similar concept but with games that give tickets that can be exchanged for prizes (kind of like a tiny Chuck E. Cheese's). Before proper all-you-can-eat buffets became popular, we had Shoney's salad bar. Back in the '80s, I'd order that and tear it up, with my stepdad pointing out how many plates of food I'd gotten. it was all salad and fruit, but he needed some way to try to make me feel self-conscious. Around that time, I started practicing what I call "buffet hands". Basically, the right hand holds the (hopefully clean) plate while the left hand handles the serving utensils. Any food that needs to be touched (rolls, fried chicken, etc.) is off-limits to the contaminated left hand. I also make a point to go to the restroom and wash my hands prior to getting food. It makes little difference, as some of the nastiest people in the US frequent buffets, and there's a good chance that a snot-nosed kid is touching every piece of food in one line, while an obese woman on a mobility scooter is coughing into the food in the next line. Maybe it's a subconscious throwback to my Shoney's days, but I find myself eating less and less prepared food at buffets and more and more from the salad bar. Even the pizza buffets find me eating 3-4 slices at most before filling up a plate with salad and beets. As I grow older, the thought of most buffets, whether they be American, Chinese, pizza, or other, grows less appealing, as does fast food. I can save money by cooking my own food; while resting easy knowing it was cooked in a safe manner and is free from outside contaminants.

Covid shut down most of the casino buffets, but there are still some very good cheap buffets such as The South Point buffet. Breakfast is $14, $12 if you get the slot club card. It has an omelet station, many kinds of beef, chicken, ham, seafood dishes. Many, many deserts. I try to go about once a month.
