What I love is how Zaleskar says he's proud of his heritage because he wears an open-faced helmet. But in the game's coding ANY headwear conceals your identity as an undead, even a hat that doesn't even cover the top of your skull, let alone your face. So by the rules of the world, if a thin piece of cloth on your head is enough to make people forget undead are a thing, then they helped Zaleskar not knowing he was undead, because they're idiots. Not his fault the sanctuary can't see through his open-faced helmet.

A DoS2 video in this day and age? Well, color me surprised! I love this! Re: Vredeman being Braccus Rex though, it really wasn't that big of a "surprise". His lore was scattered and always mentioned all around Fort Joy area (the purging wands, undead priestess at Amadia's sanctuary, the different points of interest, soul jar visions, and Withermoore's story to name a few). And then, there's Tarquin's job of reviving Braccus Rex, the logs in Dallis's diary, and Vredeman unleashing Meteor Shower turn 1 during the Lady Vengeancr fight is a nice callback to DoS1's Braccus Rex unleashing Meteor turn 1 as well. Some magisters (I forgot where) have also pointed out that Dallis began to change for the worse ever since Vredeman became her advisor, although it's unclear if it's because Fane's Daughter replaced the real Dallis or if it was Braccus's influence. Still, it was made a point that Braccus Rex is just THAT manipulative, devious, and sinister that I wouldn't put it past him to be the one pulling all the strings all along as to how Dallis was always one step ahead of you. It all comes to a head when you're doing the Anathema questline, at the end of which Tarquin reveals that it's for killing the Source King himself (which is something that we saw coming at that point). As for Vredeman choosing to "let loose" at that exact point in time, this doesn't have an in-lore explanation but my theory is he was only pretending to be controlled so he can get as close to Lucian's Tomb as possible. His plan of using Bishop Alexander to get close to godhood under the guise of "training" him was a bust after all. He was probably hoping for the 2 sides to face-off at the end so he can sieze all the source for himself. However, as the last part of his plans didn't seem to be going his way, he had no choice to but finally reveal his power in a last attempt to regaining his former glory. I don't know if you played DoS1, but as someone who did, it was a treat learning more and more about Braccus Rex and finally getting the chance to fight him at his "full power" (only once though. Going through all the sworn and the Kraken ain't as fun the 2nd time beyond) because the fight in 1 didn't really do him justice. The one thing that's still a headscratcher to me though is how he's connected to the God King. I didn't peg him to be the type to be sworn, after all, and I don't quite remember if there was any mention of him being sword.
@ProxyGateTactician5 ай бұрын
I hadn't played DOS1 so it's interesting the stuff I missed about him. Most of the commenters who mention it was hinting at him had played DOS1 from what I'm seeing now. As someone who started on that game it felt pretty lame that he was this random guy who suddenly broke slavery to be a boss. I still love the game's combat, side quests, and characters, but that last boss was always weird to me. Never knew why the god king was with Braccus, and I'm pretty sure even if you're still allied with the god king you still fight those guys don't you?
@chuchubag5 ай бұрын
@@ProxyGateTactician Being honest, the reveal that Vredeman was B.Rex at the end didn't hit the landing right, just because there wasn't a lot of focus put onto him and it felt forced to have a "phase 2" fight. It was the only thing that feels off if you haven't played DoS1, and yup, it sucks. Even if you have seen the hints about B. Rex, it just hits different if you're a DoS1 player so I can see where you're coming from. As for fighting him even when allied with the God King, I'm ashamed to say that I haven't done the God King route yet as we almost always kill Sallow Man (don't remember if you can still be sworn even if he's dead). I'm also not sure what happens if you ally with Adramahliik and fight him. I don't remember if the demon grants assistance in that fight.
@jagondal83785 ай бұрын
Fun Fact: Braccus Rex doesn't cast Meteor Shower on turn 1 if he doesn't survive round 1. Use warp/teleport to stack everyone, then drop an AoE source spell with splash damage like Pyroclasm or the upgrade of Blood Rain. Just make sure Dallas doesn't die first as it automatically triggers phase 2. I had already beaten the game once or twice like that before seeing the extended fight in a YT video lol

@@ProxyGateTactician I really do like Divinity's combat. In all honesty, my biggest hope for DOS3 is that they finally get a concrete settlement on the worldbuilding. Divinity has a wonderful world, and I particularly LOVE the Ancient Empire and its History. I enjoy DoS combat more than Baldur's gate tbh, just try to save your cc for when it will bust their armour/magic resist
@chrismanuel97685 ай бұрын
Combat in this game is less.... combat and more puzzle solving. Being undead is kinda cheating though because there's so many spells that just rain poison, healing you and damaging the enemy at the same time
There are some really cool mods for this game that overhaul how the armor system works and changes cc to be less debilitating.

Alright I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but the 'its a boy' blessed fire gag at 10:36 was phenomenal, thank you. I laughed so hard I woke up my wife lol

My friend’s partner recommended we try this game a few years back, which is how I learned this type of game could turn me into an unmoving rock that only played DOS2. I should finish this game…

The 3 bosses in the endfight are sworn so they get revived, you have to soulpurge them for them to stay dead
@ProxyGateTactician5 ай бұрын
Is that a real thing? Like if I had used the consume source attack thing on those people then they wouldn't re-appear? If so that is an amazing detail I never knew after thousands of hours played lol. I guess if I have sided with the god-king he also offers you a revive to I guess that makes sense. Is that explained somewhere in the game or you just put 2 and 2 together?

I'm pretty sure I ate their souls in my playthroughs just because of how insufferable they are, but they still kept coming back in the last fight. I might be misremembering though cuz I always make it a point to try and one-shot Vredeman during phase 1 because the Braccus fight is a slog to go through.
@dragonirradiant31885 ай бұрын
even if you consume their source after killing them, they are still resurrected for that fight. knowing the other divinity games' lore explains many of the stranger lore points (such as dragon knights, among which Dallis is one of the only few remaining), but those four getting resurrected even after their source had been consumed was frustrating
@EFJ565 ай бұрын
Sadly, I know for sure I ate all their souls the first time I fought them and they all got brought back for the final fight. (Happily, if you bring Vredeman directly from 20% to 0 health in one hit, you can skip that entire section.)

If you never tried I'd recommend it for sure. It's still a fun game. Very similiar to BG3, but after re-playing I realized the story wasn't written as well. The combat system itself though I like more than BG3's

This video reminds me that I should probably actually play DOS2 since I got it to play with some friends, but that fell apart quickly when we realised our playstyles for games like that are wildly different and we could never stick together naturally, and I never touched it since, despite playing through BG3 50 million times

playing with 2 characters and using the lone wolf talent is OP and very fun. if you pick lone wolf and have more than 1 companion it gets turned off until you get rid of a person. this is my favorite way to play. lone wolf doubles all your stats, so 5 points into a school maxes it out. this makes for some crazy good specs like "the Death knight" which is 10 points in necromancer and 10 points warfare and you have lots of points left over for other things too. the death knight spec heals you when ever you deal damage with your weapon.

Funnily enough playing as a skelly boy was what sold me on this game initially even though i had never heard of it and boy oh boy did it not only deliver it became one of my favorite games of all times. That said. Where the hell are my playable skelly bois in BG3 Larian?!

What's my excuse you ask? Well. I also have brain damage. Took 3 tries, but I have, laudibly, beaten away the brain cancer with my patented 'fuck off' stick; with circumstantial bonuses from 2 craniotomies, and a fusion special attack of chemo pills and 6 weeks daily radiation. The only casualty was my hair.... Pretty good excuse I'd say. And no, I don't want/need well wishes or a pity party. This is intended to shift my suffering those few years ago, I to some opportunistic dark humor. I wish I hadn't gone through that shit. But it's a great way to kill a vibe, and I do enjoy this odd power I have attained.

Glad to hear you made it man. My father didn’t survive it 2 years ago. Own that as much as you want and kill any vibes you earned it.

I find it funny how when I played, I literally never covered my face and nobody ever attacked me for it. Why? Because I wore a hat. That's right, if you have ANYTHING in your head slot, nobody treats you as undead even though you're wearing literally just a hat with your skeleton face on full display.
