Playing as Fane makes me feel like everyone can actually tell that I am undead, but etiquette demands that they politely ignore it unless I outright show my skeleton. Then it is socially acceptable to kill me. XD

Another comment here states that as soon as combat starts, whichever member of the enemy party has the highest loremaster skill, checks all of your stats and informs the rest. Since you can do it to them, they do it to you. But it does raise the question of why these people with loremaster skills aren't tasked with checking peoples stats constantly, as a form of prevention or safety measures.

Another great tip is that later when everything in shops costs +4k. just give free 1k gold to the shop keeper to boost your favor to 100% then every item you buy is s going to be like 1-2k cheaper than originally :) Effectively when buing new weapons, gear and skill books you save up to 10k gold just by sacrificing that 1k at start.

Eh, you can rationalize the free 1,000 gold as becoming an investor in the shop. Cheesing would be the folks who do things at the Fort like give alcohol to the drunk guy for XP, then heal him for XP, then taunt him and slay him for a third round of XP, use his card to win the card game without revealing the source, and then murdering everyone there for more XP. Also, the wholesale slaughter of everyone in an area you'll never return to in the future.

Extra tip: Hoard all the bones and skulls you come across. With a mortar and pestle you can make bone dust from them which is very useful and worth a good deal.

For the hotbar management, instead of switching to a different hotbar there is an option under gameplay options you can toggle to prevent items you pick up from automatically being placed on your hotbar.

Just some additional info based on the tips shown: 2) When stealing, it's important that you try to prevent anyone from being caught. While early in the game it's not much of a problem since NPCs won't badger you if you don't have the missing item in question, but later on they will force a persuasion check on anyone they find with a stolen item in their inventory or equipped. This can be hectic in multiplayer since if you don't know if your friend is using their sticky fingers, you could get forced into combat as if you stole the item. 4) There's also a way to select a bunch of items at once, reducing the number of keystrokes/button presses when doing things like moving items to a bag or sending them to another party member. This feature can get bugged from time to time and will sometimes require the game to be reloaded before it resumes function. 5) Instead of putting up each individual item on your toolbar, you can put the bag on it and use it as a sort of quick access to avoid clutter on the toolbar with nonsensical items. Keep in mind it only makes a shortcut on the toolbar when you initially create a stack of one particular item, so there is a point to keeping at least a few common items such as Firestorm grenades or spell scrolls. 6) As an Undead, save all of your empty bottles and normal potions. You can combine Zaikk's Talon with any normal potion to turn them into poison (a must have) and you can combine any empty bottle with a barrel or ooze to create a bottle of lesser poison. Using the knowledge that combining two poisons of the same quality will grant one of a higher quality, you can fill your inventory with potions that not only heal you significantly, but also grant HP over time with the poison debuff. Additionally, be careful for any event that may remove your helmet or another piece of gear, as being undead you have to wear gear in all slots at all times and if you reveal yourself to any NPC (even story related ones) you will drop their attitude towards you to -45 and initiate combat. Keep in mind, this can happen to characters that have 100 attitude towards you, which can either be costly, or a mistake worthy of reloading your last save. 11) Combining two runes of the same quality and type along with pixie dust will upgrade them to the next rank of rune. Two major components are used in Pixie Dust's creation, Bone and Stardust Herb. Both will need to be combined with a mortar and pestle before being combined with each other, and the 4th and final rank of a rune requires a superior stardust herb. 12) It's better to gain a level inbetween each steal session with an npc. A particular character can only pickpocket from an npc once, and (usually) their items will automatically restock when you level. Sometimes skillbook vendors will even have higher rank skill books once you've leveled, so it's important not to waste a use of one of the best civil skills just so you can empty out a particular vendor of their last shiv. 13) It stands to reason that all builds should probably have access to Teleport, Netherswap, and Uncanny Evasion, all requiring 2 Aerotheuge. Additionally, you could also use a movement skill such as Tactical Retreat, Spread your Wings, Cloak and Dagger, or Phoenix Dive to move somewhere out of reach without dealing damage to a party member. 14) Migo's Ring is great as an early addition, but I'm guessing someone in your party will probably have some investment in hydrosophist early on, and it quickly wears out it's usefulness. Instead, bring the ring to Magister Yarrow on the wall near the entrance to Fort Joy to unlock the Hero tag early as well as complete her quest for a lot of experience and a randomized quest item. Additionally, if you are still wanting the ring, you can kill both Magister Yarrow and Migo for even more experience and the ring will drop as an additional reward for doing so without any future consequence. Additionally, he mentions summoning an incarnate pre-battle, you can also have one character initiate battle and then summon your incarnate off screen and away from the fight and then controlling him so he walks in. This allows you to also sneak in for an additional action at the start of combat. If dialogue is opened before combat, you can still move freely with other characters before the fight starts, and any buffs applied to the character currently talking to the npc will not tick down, meaning you can supercharge a character before a fight as well as get your sneak attacks in during these scenarios. Keep an eye out for perfume bottles and jars of mind maggots. Although they sell for a lot, Perfume bottles can be combined with any honey source to make a 2 turn charm grenade, and Mind Maggots can be combined with an empty grenade to create a 4 turn charm grenade. Both of these are godsends during fights since they work on any enemy as long as they have been stripped of their magic armor beforehand.

I just discovered one really important thing that I didn't notice until now (200+ hours played): you can aim at different parts of bodies. I'm not talking about destroying the arms or legs like in other games. I'm talking about adjusting the arc of your projectile, by aiming low or high (feet vs forehead). This means that some shots that appear to be blocked can actually work.

A tip that not a lot of people know without looking at wiki sites: 48 skills are created by combining a skill book from one of the elemental types with any of the other disciplines. For instance any normal Aero book with any normal Huntsman book gives the Erratic Wisp book. If either of them is a Source skill, you get the Evasive Aura book. Simply use the crafting menu and place both books there, then combine.

Here's a tip if you're playing undead. On the ship there's a room with deathfog barrels that will get destroyed if you enter the room. However if you're quick enough you can pick one up before it happens. It basically makes one combat encounter against living beings trivial.

Follow up on Migo's Ring, you can use restoration on the beat-up drunk guy near the Elf cave and get the Sparkler card from him. Then you can use that sparkler card to win the card game on the top of the fort wall. Just don't tell them how you actually got the card and you won't have to fight them. It's a pretty big chunk of gold for the start of the game.

If you're going to fight undead, there's always Restoration, your best friend. There should also be a talent, that improves healing spells and potions, should work on undead to deal greater damage that way. Not sure though.

the Bedroll deserves a BAFTA award, it's so good. It;s never a bad idea to have Fane spec as a geomancer, as this allows him to cast Poison spells to heal himself while also destroying enemies' magic armor. Using restoration skills offensively is tricky though, as they'll be on cooldown when you desperately need them in some instances. But hey, luck favors the bold

If you've played the very first Divinity game (Divine Divinity, that is), you could pick up various chests, barrels and stuff there too. My inventory was cluttered with urns and chests, some of those were special in that when you've opened the chest in your inventory, the chest itself weighted 0 and only counted the items inside it to the overall weight. This doesn't work in D:OS2 though, each chest has it's own weight regardless of the status it's in (well in the inventory each chest, backpack and stuff is always closed, there's no animation there).

Another tip. How to teleport yourself as it seem that you need a target to do so. Well, if you keep the black cat alive, once you leave fort Joy, it will become a summon spell with the possibility to swap place with you. This is usefull when you want to play the game in lone wolf mode with a party member of one.

2 points in ranger and in metamorph also gives you similar movement possibilities, with the jump and fly skills. Having those 2 if you're playing a solo lone wolf seems a go-to to me, even if you're not specing in those.

If you have a rogue in your party or someone you dont want taking damage. Get a bunch of empty potion bottles (you can find them on potion racks) and pick any chantarelle mushrooms you come across (you can also tell the boy on the boat to look for them) combining the two gives you an invisibility potion so you wont take damage that round. Also combining nails on any boot will prevent your characters from slipping on ice. Useful if you have an hydrosophist enchanter in your party that specializes in frost.

Pro tip 1: When you have a conversation, use your melee guy. Leave the ranged guys behind in sneak mode so they all get to pop sneak attacks in one of the melee guys turn. Pro tip 2: use jump abilities to disengage out of combat, refill your heath, reload cooldowns and refill source before you pop pff a new sneak attack and re-enter combat. Pro tip 3: spider form... nuff said.

In the options menu you can prevent the new items appearing in the hotbar. Aldo you can prevent the desappear of the skills. Really helpful for chars with polymorph.

The Nail tip, Barrel tip, and the Waypoint tips are something that im really happy to know now.... at 40 hours into the game. Another one is the trade button on npcs. There are many Npcs that are labeled trader but don't have dialogue options for trade. Some NPCs even lose the dialogue option for trade, like the lizard-warrior trader in the cave at Fort joy. It was a while before I actually discovered that I could just run up to a trader select them and then tap the button to the left of their portrait to trade.

Ps4 Edition here, you can open up the map and Teleport to any waypoint no matter where you are. Also pressing R3 will highlight whatever you can pick up.

Kylie at the start I encountered the witch that slaved a Dragon and was only able to kill her without all the other mobs. Than I fled with the only remaining survivor and came back with ressurection scrolls later, trying to escape with all the ressurected characters. This all thing took me about 2 hours and I could just use a teleporter. Wow.

Note on casting before in combat: it still has a timer and will eat into your summon time much faster. A few seconds can eat up chunks of in combat time.

When one of your characters is speaking, you can apply buffs to it and they will not expire as long as the conversation is still going. Meaning that if you know that a dialog will lead to a fight, you can cast all your buffs to the character that launched the dialog, wait for the cooldowns, and then start the fight with a fully buffed character for free ! :)

you can even listen to the conversation with 3 out of your 4 characters (the 4rth one being the buffing one), and then you start your fights with 3 fully buffed characters. ;)

another good tip, if your party is about to fight someone but you need to talk to them first you can have say a melee fighter initiate the conversation and then have your caster or whoever else isnt in conversation use a bunch of buffs on the person in conversation before the fight starts such as haste,peace of mind, encourage etc. because the person is in conversation time has effectively stopped for them and the buffs dont run out, instead as soon as the conversation ends and combat initiates you will have a fully buffed ready to fight character and not have to wait to enter combat and waste ap buffing on your turn. this helped me win alot of fights.

for me, seperating the enemy and a combo of charm and knockdown arrows was the key to any tough battle. You can use a doorway to force the enemy thru one at a time (great for the 3 trolls and the Doctor in Arx). Cast a dome of protection and there is no way you lose. Another method is to start a fight from a distance, this will gain you free rounds to buff or do distance attacks while they chase you. A good example of this is the Karon fight. Finally, identify which enemy has high physical but poor magical armor. Concentrate everyone on that one guy and getting rid of that magic armor then shoot him with a charm arrow. That can turn the tide of battle. Charm and knockdown arrows were more important to me than anything else in inventory.

Few little exploits and tricks at the start of the game (mild spoilers): 1) If you attack the magister near the door leading to Windego in the tutorial boat, you enter combat and Windego insta-kills everyone as per usual. Except this time, you get all the experience for the dead magisters. 2) If you give Doctor Leste the alcohol to numb the dying man's pain, you get 250xp. If you do that, then immediately heal the dying man, you not only get that xp, but 250 more AND the item reward for saving him. 3) This one is really just a bug and not an exploit, but when you defuse the situation at the Hollow Marshes Ruined Castle, your summons can kill the targets in the second encounter near the shrine itself without actually initiating combat. 4) You can get the Hero and Villain tags at the very start of the game by generally acting heroically, ratting out Stingtail, attacking Silence and attacking enemies before they initiate combat with you. If you defuse the situation with Kniles, for example, you can attack him out of combat and I usually get the villain tag on that encounter. 5) Because of the highground advantage when approaching the final fight of Fort Joy, you can teleport the boss to your characters and gank them without having to engage the rest of the enemies, provided you use some clever positioning. This is much less of an exploit, as it is an intended potential strategy, but it's a damn good one if you're struggling on tactician.

With the hotbar, it's possible to choose what will be added and what won't. You can ensure that only skills are ever placed there, and any items can still be added manually, so you can still keep those resurrection scrolls handy. Also, identifying glasses are no longer used up, so as long as you have one you're good.

Here's a tip that wasn't in the video. Turns out you can create formations for your team. Press escape and one of the options there is for formations. For inventory management, you can actually change what gets added to hot hotkey bar in the settings. So if you wanted to you can make it so that nothing gets added when picked up, or just scrolls, arrows, etc. Very useful

Sneaking and Thievery is so OP in this game. Rogue in general is pretty OP. I try not to do too many exploits like you show in this video. Esp ones that just break immersion too much.

the best traders are actually pretty hard to steal because of the amount of people around, and if you get caught it costs quite a lot. but there are a lot of nice strategies to steal in populated areas, one of my favorites is use 2 teamates to distract everyone, one to steal, and the last I use swap to change places with the thief after stealing, when the guy realized he has robbed he will try to check the character closest to him, when he see that you are not caring anything, he will just walk away pretty angry. stealing is the game is like real life... high pay with high risks

I totally misunderstood the Telekinesis skill until I watched this. I thought it determined the weight and distance for the Teleportation spell, but it actually controls how much a character can move in the environment. Doh! I've held on to a lot of crappy gear 'cuz it added to Telekinesis since I thought it would help with Teleportation.

Yeah, telekinesis works with your cursor :P Just grab shit and do with it whatever you want. Also more points in telekinesis - greater range. Many times it was really useful for me, to move away exploding barrels or those strange acid/fire/electric flowers. Or just simply bring to me a chest, that was protected by traps or harmful effects (shock clouds etc)

pro tip: don't attack neutral NPCs when you fight with them. Throwing a fireball all over your team is stupid, throwing a fireball all over neutral NPCs will aggro them and is doubly stupid. It all depends on their attitude towards you. Reduce their attitude too much and they will get tired of your shit.
