A really cool Elden Ring challenge run i came up with, i though it was going to be a much bigger disaster but it turned into one of the most fun challenges!
And thanks to everyone that watches these videos, really appreciate it and its a huge honor to me :)

I find it criminal how few Cold/Frostbite abilities are in the game, and how late you get them. There should at least be two weaker sources of it early in the game. Same for practically every type of damage. Sure, you have the four physical types (Standard, Pierce, Slash, and Strike). There's at least five sources of Hemorrhage. Fire and basic Magic are plentiful. Hell, even Holy has several sources. But Cold, Poison, and Rot have little to no presence at all.

Yea freeze mist works fine but jf you use the death mist, the one where you can get damaged as well.

A bit sad that Ranni's Dark Moon is only classified as a Moon Sorcery instead of both a Moon and Cold Sorcery. That also feels kind of weird considering it does frost buildup and belongs to Ranni, but I guess it might've been a bit weird to have a spell that belongs to 2 different categories at once. P.S. Zamor Ice Storm wasn't that good before, but it was buffed a couple of patches ago making it pretty great so it's good you did this challenge when you did.

If rannis dark moon wasn't a full moon sorcery than rennalas full moon would be the only one meaning the carian regal scepter would only buff one spell

@@azathoth2313: I don't think anyone is in doubt about it being a moon spell, only whether or not it should also have counted as a cold spell for this challenge, seeing as it's buffed by both the Carian Regal Scepter AND the Snow Witch Hat.

When you get to the second phase, the fire giant becomes more immune to whatever type of effects you were using in the first phase.

@@tototriceps aww, maybe bending the rules a lil bit to allow for "pebble" or early starting kit glintstone spells would still be cool, at least till you kill the academy crystal cave duo? I'd still think it would be an interesting challenge to see the rest of the game with these mostly unused spells

@@arci1229 same its so sad the best spells in the game are the starting one glintstone pebble. and adula's moon blade which you get near the end of the game. i eventually switched out glintstone for spiral shard because it looks cool and used to do well on large bosses but it got nerfed so bad. spells are actually fun to use in pvp because being strategic to catch your enemies is what's needed there. but in pve using anything else is just so underwhelming. I've done like lava builds and other builds with magic but you do so much less damage than the 2 spells i mentions for way more cost even after all the buffs they gave magic. -- and i refuse to use comet azure with the broken op combo i used it 3 times on bosses was like this is so ridiculous and broken and it ruined those 3 bosses for me i eventually went back and did them legit so i could actually experience the fight.

My headcanon for runs like these where you can only use one type of spell like Crucible or, in this case, cold is that some people have an affinity for certain magic types, even to the point of not being able to use other magic, but I guess that can be disputed by people using buffs like Golden Vow and Flame Grant Me Strength.

Most challenge runs are challenges, because you’re dealing damage only with the specific spells or weapons. Buffs don’t directly deal damage. That’s why most people still use them, unless they’re limiting to a strict class of magic or weapon

@@CheshireTheMaid someone smarter than me should do the math showing how much damage the extra fp consumption costs you… I guarantee if you started with the same mind/intelligence and ran out your mana using the same spell each cast, you’d do more total damage with Azurs or Renallas staff than with Lusats… my mage gets 2-3 extra cast’s when not using lusats staff

I love the ice theme! I would love to see a run where you use only consumable items like the spirit bell and throwing pots, I think there are a good variety of both one time use and repeated use items that could be used in interesting ways. I love your videos and they really inspire me to mix up my builds.

great video ! a trick i found for the erdtree avatars is if you stand behind to the side , sorta like in diagonal from them , they'll always do thair jump attack , wich can be easily dodged and gives you ample time to replace yourself and attack

Nice build.. I've played a lot with this build. But I think the hat and top armour boosts cold sorceries. I didn't know about Blaidd, but I guess he is imposible to freeze since he is using freeze weapons himself. EDIT: Adula's moonblade is really OP.

If you go based off what is affected by ranni's hat, then her dark moon spell could be considered a cold sorcery. It falls under the full moon sorceries for the purpose of there ... well being only 2 of them, but it still benefits from the "cold sorcery" boosting snow witch hat.

I'm actually doing almost the same run as you right now! WHAT KILLED THE DINOSAURS!? THE ICE AGE!!! :D Only difference was that I cheated in Glintstone Icecrag spell at the start, no zip glitching for Zamor Icestorm (got it legit), had to unfortunately cheat in Scorpion Magic Charm as well after I screwed up Sellivus quest, and I allow to summon in the gold summons if they are there (but no mimic tear/any tears and no human summons). I'm at Renalla now and hopefully I'll get that Adula's Moonblade soon. Overall ice magic and frostbite is so OP and awesome, really easy to make a build around it if you know what you're doing as a sorcerer :)

Also, fun fact, Adula's Moonblade is one of relatively few spells that benefits from two different boosts to specific groups of spells, those being Snow Witch Hat and Carian Glintstone Staff. The other spells that have two boosting items are all Golden Order incants, cuz Gold Mask and Golden Order Seal

I know it wasn't even necessary, given how the run ended up, but there a several buffs left on the table here, for an even more OP time. Jellyfish Shield and Rogier's Set are direct buffs. And did I not see him collect Ranni's Dark Moon? Pretty sure that counts and the debuff is huge.

If you hold Azur's staff in your offhand it has the same effect as radagons icon without using a talisman slot, but I believe it makes spells cost 25% more FP

Azur staff only increases it by a tiny ammount not the same as radagona icon

@@forsenbaj224 radagon icon gives you 30 "virtual dex" basically if you were to put 30 points into dex you would get the same amount of casting speed as using radagon icon, azurs staff gives 40 V dex but tbh theyre both useless because the difference between 10 dex and 70 dex (The softcap for casting speed) is about 3 frames
