I think you can do this in 11x9: launching a rocket in a silo costs less energy than 4 accumulators can hold, so you can charge them, on the left side with a pole in the middle, and then place the rocket silo next to it, you'll need efficiency modules and a lot more resources, but it's possible. (unless I missed something)

@@DocJade So I've been cooking a little and managed to launch one using 3 efficiency 3 and 1 speed 4 module, it's still minimum energy but goes 50% faster which is how you barely have enough energy left at the end. But honestly the biggest problem is logistics, you need so many items and you only have one spot left for a chest. I fiddled around with having 600 bots carrying them via personal roboports, but it just was barely not enough. Maybe someone with more of a clue on how bots work can figure it out Edit: it's also absolutely necessary to landfill the water Edit2: Maybe you can do it by "storing" items in the crafting queue

You might like Warptorio 2. It has a very similar experience to this (at least in early and mid game). It‘s a mod where you have a small platform that emits an exponentially increasing amount of pollution so biters get crazy after like 10 minutes. Fortunately the platform has a very useful feature: It can warp to a new planet resetting pollution and evolution. But it only teleports whatever is on the platform so you have to build small.

What about a modpack where you start in like a 16x16 world and you can place new terrain after you built the tiles yourself, kind of like dimensional tiles from the Mobile Factory mod, but you only start with limited resource enough for a single self-sufficient water condenser, boiler, steam engine and greenhouse loop? And from there you do material synthesis that starts out very slow but uses very low power and gets faster with research and new synthesis machines that use more and more power, until you have built a world in the void from your small platform, like if you were starting out in the Last Millennium and needed to recreate the Earth or something, and only then do you have a reasonable enough space to automate space science. That'd be cool.

Soooo... with some testing you can go smaller. A silo with 3 efficiency modules, and 1 speed module, can build and launch a rocket with the power from 4 fully charged accumulators. If you build a couple of spidertrons to hold all the inventory you'd need (since you can't place chests, and need a full 1000 of each ingredient for the rocket), you could landfill the water for the last stage and complete the rocket in an 11 x 9 world.

If we had the alpha boilers (which were 1x1), you should technically be able to do this on an 11x9 platform (steam engine is 2 wide, so you'd still need at least that (you'd also need the old steam engine, cause in those days, steam was just hot water)). It's very nearly possible with the current boiler, but you wouldn't be able to get the steam out (unless you can rotate a boiler such that some of it is sticking off the map?) Anyway, nicely done!
