Fun Fact: If you code that Sephiroth has 0HP at the Beginning of a Fight, he is frozen. If you revive him then, you can Controll him for that Battle. But he has to have 0HP before every Fight or he goes Automod again.

Sephiroth always takes 0 damage, not because of his Defence, but because he has the Peerless status, the only way to deal or take 0 damage is the afformentioned Peerless(Great Gospal grants this Status) and attacks like ???? with full health, if the game didn't crash it would be 100% possible.

Also Defence is a % based reduction of Def/512, same for magic defence. I think there's a hardcap on the reduction at higher % as well so you can't get 100% at 512+ defences. This is also how defence works in FF6 and FF8.

About that status Emerald weapon could still DISPEL the status so odds are I would still have to KoTR it to death with HP absorb.

@@veghesther3204 No he can't, Emerald Shoot removes Barrier, MBarrier, Shield, Death Force and Resist, and Aire Tam Storm removes those plus Haste, Slow, Stop and Regen.

To be exact, he's not in Peerless. He just has Physical and Magical Immunity (same as Ruby WEAPON prior to its first tentacle phase) as well as a flag that gives him Status Immunity and infinite MP at once. The only thing that can harm him as far as I know is moves that eject party members from battle entirely, since there is no protection from that implemented in the game whatsoever.

When you unlock Vincent, Sephiroth is completely overwritten and unable to be used. Same with Young Cloud and Cait Sith. That's why Sephiroth was invisible at the end.

You need to get the Sephiroth Mod to play this challenge. It makes Sephiroth fully controlable, change equipment/materia, remove the permanent peerless status, etc. The character replace Cloud actually iirc. It's also crashes free now.

It has since been discovered that, if you edit your game save to place Sephiroth into your party with 0 HP and then revive him in battle, this clears him of his usual script, which has him cast level 3 magic at will, irrespective of what materia he has equipped, and makes him playable like any other character. Mind you, many of his animations are missing (such as his death animation, or even him lying dead on the ground), and, as such, are replaced with him standing perfectly still, but he's playable like that.

You most likely saw him take damage in the Kalm flashback when you were playing New Threat.

Back on the original PS1 there were Gameshark codes that let you use him. The first version was like the mod you had here, where it just takes him with all his abilities in the Nibelheim flashback, so uncontrollable, invincible, crashes game, etc. Honestly, it was neat, but not very fun. Years later someone came up with a significantly longer GS code (like, it was huge, took forever to input the whole thing) that seemed to essentially be a palette swap for Vincent. Had Sephiroth's appearance and animations, but equipped guns. Fully controllable, can give him materia, etc. I don't think it really crashed the game much either. So that was pretty cool, except, like I mentioned, it was really just a palette swap for Vincent, so there wasn't anything special about him. But if you just didn't care for Vincent, that was one way to have fun with him.

If you had a cheat card/cheat disc on PS1, you could swap Sephiroth with all party members via the PHS and have x3 Sephiroth but it was also glitchy.

Not surprised. Well, actually surprised that you managed to brute force some crashes. FF7 is coded super weirdly. Scripts for cutscenes are tied to specific characters, and each map has a list of characters that can be in it. Since Sephiroth has none of that the game wil crash a lot. Also, he's immortal. So if there were no crashes it would be mostly a breeze, though he might waste a lot of time reviving later. I don't remember if eject works on him, but I think it doesn't. Statuses don't work either. He's got very specific coding attached to him.

Yeah, that's why I would strongly suggest going for a tedious model swap, gear swap, materia swap, limit break bar shutoff and exp shutoff method. If I knew how to do an in combat model swap (leaving the cutscene and overworld models as cloud would probably be mandatory, unless someone wanted to create and swap those models somehow... idk how), I'd probably be able to do all of this myself.

If you're going to use a GameShark to put him in your party then you can use codes to control him and alter his materia. You can even actually save this to a memory card and it work correctly without the codes afterwards except for taking control of Sephiroth; that always requires a GameShark code.

It really *SHOULD* be possible to do this. A few things would have to happen. For one, it would have to be a model swap. There's probably no getting around that fact, but it wouldn't have to be playing cloud with sephiroth's model and going about the game as normal. You would have to change all of clouds stats to what sephiroth has in the kalm flashback, remove the limit break bar (it would just not fill), force the specific materia and equipment onto him and disable experience gain. I don't know how to do all of this, but I am almost certain it's possible with gameshark codes, so a mod should be able to do this. I could do quite a few of these things myself with my emulator (epsxe) and the cheat engine plugin (PEC plugin). The only thing I don't know how to do is swap his model with the plugin and I think I remember the Masamune crashing the game if you force it onto cloud... but it's possible that the crash is only because of some funky interaction between the weapon and clouds model. Like the game can't find the model based on the equipped weapon, even though clouds model does have some animations with the Masamune, it's just not his regular model, but his cutscene model. A lot of people aren't even aware that there are like three cloud models afaik. In combat model, overworld model and cutscene model. The same goes for (nearly?) every character.

You maybe able to use Black Chocobo to change Vincent back into Sephiroth. Vincent overwrites all of Sephiroth's flashback data. A lot of us did Sephiroth playable mods so never really tried it myself but I know there is a setting for it in there. There maybe a playable Sephiroth with all his code intact. Can probably do it with Wallmarket if you can get that running. Could probably swap the code over to Cloud then use one of the many Sephiroth replacing Cloud mods. Mine did a lot of replacing otherwise I'd give you, my mod. Qhimm forums where I use to frequent has a discord server. The people there are pretty friendly too so give it a shot.

@@roxojones Once you get Vincent that is it. It's probably conflicting with some script that requires Vincent and the game can't, so it crashes.

@@roxojones did the problems start before Vincent? Sephiroth was never supposed to be used throughout the game. You need to do some editing. That is why we swap models around while sacrificing a character we don't care about. That is something intrinsic in the games data we have no control over. That is why people made projects to try to make things easier and it was no simple task. It's like with time. Things simply get thrown out and just straight incompatible.

If you're interested in continuing SephiRun, switch to PSX version and google All Stars. This mod have far superior content to anything that ever was made for OG7. Albeit maybe actual story where players can destroy Clo and protags lol Even Rufus, Turks and Dayne are there, and no - not model swaps. 👀

Pity you couldn't make him controllable. His lack of animations makes for some entertaining hiccups. For example, he'll only actually swing his sword twice during 4x-Cut. He'll just stand there for two of them. On the plus side, it does disable his infinite MP, his revive spam, and almost anything about him that will cause the game to crash. It *does* cost you Vincent, though. Unfortunately, he shares that particular party slot. He also shares Vincent's stats, curiously. Which... means he winds up with garbage stats in the late game. It's not a model swap, though. I recall doing this with a gameshark back in ye olden days. The end result was not a model swap - it was a fully controllable, intact Sephiroth. He did still equip Masamune (and only Masamune), and crit on pretty much every swing, but his LB basically just cast Death-All instead of doing anything worthwhile.

at least in the versions i had, Sephiroth is PEERLESS, nothing hurts him. its the same thing Aerith's Level 3 and 4 Limit Breaks. i dont know if theres any difference between versions i had and you have, or if anything else was altered (apologies for not really caring or watching the full 11.48 long video; and no thats not a veiled insult either)

Lol... Primalliquid is such an enigma. Tech literate enough to make his own script to automate a brute force method, but has no idea about Sephiroth's hard-coded invincibility and mechanics. I swear the guy does absolutely zero research for any of these runs, but he still manages to produce entertaining content all the same.

That depends if you can still give him 9999 HP 999 MP and KoTR to use on Carry armor then yes its easily doable since his default materia is still pure CRAP.

Considering Sephiroth can never take damage, there's litterally no need to give him 9999HP and he has infinte MP and already has more than enough for KOTR so no need for 999MP either Carry Armour only has 24000HP at 3000+ each attack thats only 8 attacks(if he used physical but his AI Script would have him use Bolt3 all the time). Also Sephiroths AI script doesn't have KOTR in it so he wouldn't use it even if you gave it him.

@flamerollerx01 I never said it was. Besides getting KOTR in Sephiroth only, is impossible at this stage as it would require beating Ruby for the Gold chocobo since breeding isn't an option, and I don't think Ultimate Weapon is on the map yet.

Vincent in the game = Sephiroth disappears because they share the same memory addresses in the game (Sephiroth is in fact a "transformation" of Vincent.)

Why is Sephiroth so beloved character ?? in my opinnion he is one of the worst Antagonists in the Franchise he doesnt do anything big he is trapped in the "Lifestream Crystal" get free by Cloud and shortly after we defeat him.... I think even Genova is a better Antagonist
