The first grass touch might be able to be avoided by cutting with a spike off the ceiling. By deflecting a spike, it might be able to reach the grass if the stalactites can actually cut grass.

13:23 You did touch it, your hitboxes clip the grass pretty obviously on the upper right. 15:33 You clip the first grass as well, very very subtly but you can see the hitboxes overlap briefly for a few frames. You may also clip the last grass there, but it's kind of hard to tell. It does seem like two consecutive grass touches though. 19:44 Going frame by frame, there's a couple where you definitely clip the grass on your dip in the activation of Monarch Wings. Assuming you've shown all your close calls in this video, or that I have not missed any overlaps, the true final total would be 16 grass touches. Definitely still very impressive!

are you sure you're looking at the right hitbox? the smaller, orange one is the one that counts for grass interactions, not the slightly bigger yellow one. This is relevant as it is the smaller, orange hitbox that triggers the grass rustling when touched. I realise i wasn't super clear on this in the video (only appears briefly in text at the start for a few frames)

Looking at the 15:33 jump in frame advance: the knight's orange hitbox goes from being to the right on one frame to being just barely above on the next. The hitboxes essentially touch but don't overlap. In 15:36 the yellow hitbox clips the grass for one frame but the orange never touches.

I liked your quick intro, tho I do personally hard disagree that 0:06 is grass, it definitely isn't, it's moss. Artistically, the grass in Crossroads is supposed to give you a feeling of overgrown-ness, but also to make you feel more welcome than a more plain, abandoned road would. Grass touch you gently. I have so many ideas for routings The main question I have is entering peaks through dirthmouth I know I saw a setup one day which used wings and dash slash to do some wacky wall shenanigans and you ended up being able to climb up to the elevator from near jiji’s hut That would skip one grass touch to get into peaks But may require getting dash (and also wings without cdash, but you can probably avoid all the grass leading to wings with only vs, claw, and stall balls), and on that topic, im wondering how much grass you would touch if you tried to get to dash from howling cliffs, as you are only a few rooms away from hornet The rest seems pretty much optimised and this one grass to peak seems like the only possible optimisation Unless… Well you can always just skip cdash entirely and do explosion pogos to get to monomon using ooma cores but… Yeah :zote:
