I saw another challenge run that was posted at about the same time of beating the game without using action commands, which felt pretty similar up to the point where you grabbed the mush badge. On that challenge the runner specifically did not pick up the mush badge because he felt it would trivialize things.

I don't really see the point of not using the mush badge here. Without it, you might not be doing enough damage to get past the 8 turn timer on the koopalings.

With Mario and no action commands, you could still use Bros moves and you would still be doing double the damage output. Here, you don't have that luxury so you need the extra damage output to even complete the game.

I had a very stupid moment on Oho Jee Island. In order to get off the island, you need to open up a pipe and this is done by simply lighting two pedestals with the Firebrand. But my dumb brain was convinced that one of them had to be for Thunderhand and I spent way too long hunting for a blue ball that never existed. 😅

The 17 minute fight with Queen Bean he mentioned. When I first played this game I was very young. Still single digit age playing on my GBA. I didn't know you could jump on her hands to make her crown fall off. I spent the whole fight using only the hammers and doing 1 damage each hit....wasn't until third or fourth time through the game when I was older that I realized I could damage the arms.

The Mario brothers were told to retrieve peaches voice but Mario before abording the koopa cruiser falls serious ill with the koopa virus so Luigi had to go on this adventure alone, terrified for what is to come in the future Mario comforts Luigi telling him he will be alright, as Luigi waves goodbye to Mario Luigi again starts to fear for the worst for what awaited for his long adventure. Days and days go bye for Luigi it feels like eternity without his brothers red hat and overalls and his slice mustache to help him and guide him, Luigi feels lost, each and every battled he sees visions of his dear brother giving his that good old thumbs up with confidence to help cheer him on meeting the superstars brothers the red one reminded him of his brother, so did the people I'm chucklehuck woods the red one reminded him of his brother, even the hammer bros, also the fish ladies that gave him his nice massage the red seat reminded him of his brother, eating mushrooms alone reminded him of eating mushrooms with his brother, Everywhere he looked there was ether a empty seat of a Duo of some sorts made him sad not seeing his brother by his side, while fighting Cackletta's soul he thinks that this were he will die he is already weak from the bomb explosion and his brothers absence made him feel weaker this is it this is were I die. But Luigi realizes he came all this way through the ups and down and the hardest enemies he's ever faced alone he couldn't give up now would Mario give up now he though, would he go through all of this just for nothing. And with this new confidence he powers threw cacklettas attacks eating mushrooms,peppers, and nuts but he didn't give up and with a final swing of his hammer he defeated cackletta he "saved peaches voice" and saved bean Kingdom and reunited with Mario. And as Luigi made it home safe he learned something, even without his brothers help he can still be strong.

I could easily imagine this game simply being moded to remove a bro. The game is already coded to target 1 bro while the other is downed, so just activate that and tweak the cutscenes/dialogue and puzzles (maybe some new animations for overworld movement). Boom, done.

dude, here is an easier strat for queen bean, just hit her with the hammer 150 times and dodge her attacks as its SUPER easy to avoid, its still a long fight regardless but if you just do the hammer attack and avoid her shockwaves, you will NEVER die

I feel like removing Mario doesn't actually add much of a challenge, it disables bros attacks probably but if you know how to dodge attacks it becomes much easier since you only have to focus on 1 instead of 2 targets

This video reminded me i have a boss only run i still need to beat… Its not too bad but once you get the later half of bowsers castle the difficulty spikes because you can no longer use Thunder Bros to get a defense debuf Same with Cacklettas Soul. I am doing single digit damage to her and i have no more peppers to use :(

I sucked at timing bross attacks, so went with just basic bonk/jump/zap/fire playtrough. I did used savestates to have highest possible roll each level up, and went with damage badges.. and landed with dealing ~300 dmg per attach.

I think a better way to have done this challenge without worrying about crashes would have been to set all of Mario's stats to 1 but also give him max hp so you don't worry about him dying. Mayne he can have max def too.

If mario first striked an enemy in straight up wouldn't even do anything. He wouldn't get a first strike then dissappear, the game wouldn't crash, or anything. It would just start a normal strike battle with only luigi
