You dont need to manipulate all the time, sometimes you do get luck as hell i remember 2 times i got lucky with duels, coins minigame and hiting alot the bee nest and getting alot of red coins hiting like 61~76, both times got the 99 stars and one finish with 230 coins and the other a hundred and something, this map is one of the most broken to play😂

Probably AI in older consoles like DS are dumb (except chess) because device limitation or for not taking lots of processing power but the developer want it to be hard to beat so they make the game rigged against the player. Although it's very unfair and cheesy but it's a kids game so they thought nobody would notice and complain.

At least the game on Hard difficutly isn't insane or litteraly take years to beat as other Nintendo game like Advance Wars 1's Advanced Campaign at the mission of final Kanbei batlle that's "Kanbei's Error?" Or the dreaded bonus final mission "Rivals!" that's infamous for impposible to beat without abusing the stupid AI because the game start with the enemy having air superiority & AI cheating Fog of War, strong passive ability of reducing enemy attack by 20% & increase damage by 20% and crazy deadline to interupt property / capture enemy HQ in Kanbei's error or Land and Air superiority in Rivals! with enemy guaranteed to outnumbering you around 10:1 (+ the AI cheating in Fog of war so they will have the highest chance of first strike or indirect able to attack in fog of war even alone and supposedly blind) at the next day enemy's army reach you and lighting strike make sure they reach, reposition and reinforce faster.

I did this without TAS. All I had to do was get real lucky (and quit the game after I roll and I land on a space I don't like, reset that turn.) When the final 5 comes up, Bowser turns the star's price from 20 to 5 coins, then with my money, I buy a late-turn star pipe, then on the final turn when I have like 690+ coins, I redeem them all for 99 stars within 10 turns. I wish I had video proof but that was when I was 12 yo. Fr
