Here we go, a brand new challenge in one of my favorite games! Lemme know other challenge ideas you have too; there are more to come 😄 *FAQs:* *1.) Night Shade?* I was aware it does damage equal to your level (hence why I said that when we first learned it), but what I'm now remembering is that it does your level's worth of damage as per the opponents *HP* and not just that amount of move damage (i.e. Shadow Ball's 80 damage doesn't do 80 HP's worth of damage, unlike a level 80 Pokemon's Night Shade). None of the big Pokemon sites seem to explain this HP factor & I had forgotten from whenever I knew this last 😅 It's not a move that's used in competitive battling so I had no experience with it aside from knowing it scaled off level. *2.) Why don't you use Double Team/Swagger?* I try not to abuse accuracy/confusion in my challenges out of personal preference! *3.) Ghost is Physical!* I'm aware, and we even discussed the Physical/Special type split in our Feebas challenge. When you're writing 10,000+ words of notes in the middle of a challenging playthrough, however, sometimes things slip your mind (especially when things have since changed). Hope you all enjoy! Havnt watched the entire video yet so im not sure if you end up figuring it out BUT, nightshade does dmg equal to your level, it doesnt just scale off it. So if youre lvl 3 itll always do 3 damage and if youre level 50 itll always do 50 damage. Its just the ghost equivalent of seismic toss

That sure is possible to misunderstand, but it would say "Night Shade's power is equal to user's level" or something like that if it's power varied instead of it being a fixed damage move.

Great video. By the way, Night Shade doesn’t take stats into consideration for damage in the same way that it doesn’t take typing into consideration. So, if you’re level 20, it’ll always do 20 HP damage no matter what the defensive stats are.

I know, it's so amazing! One doesn't tend to think that Lapras is the kind of Pokemon to 'roar' but hey, maybe it's a particularly aggressive one 😅

@@SilphSpectre I think one of the strongest things pokemon can do is take a pokemon thats extraordinary, like a lapras or charmander, and make them incredibly rare. I hate event legendary pokemon things, but im alright with the "Scan this for an opportunity to add this ### string in your game that allows cyndaquil encounters for now on." or lapras or magby/elekid via the secondary egg in silver/gold/crystal. I think a pokemon only available on x days or night/day is thematically applicable and they should do more things like that.

A tip that would have been immensely helpful, but Spinarak can learn Dig from the TM you get in National Park. It hits Miltank harder than anything else and resets rollout, and hits Quilava, Morty, Jasmine, Houndoom, and the many poison types super effectively.

Other possible strategies for Red's Unbeatable Charizard: -Spinarak gets Curse via TM03 and Agility via levelup. If you got lucky vs Snorlax, you could boost up, hope to not get paralyzed, and then blast through the rest of his team with boosted speed and offenses. Boosting up vs Venusaur also seems plausible. -Spinarak, like many other pokemon, can learn Rest by TM44. This could help you deal with Snorlax's paralysis and keep your HP high enough to not die vs Charizard. -Sludge Bomb from TM35 could help you defeat Snorlax in fewer turns, which would then let you take less damage from it.

I dont think curse is even needed. Just set up agility on Venusaur and stab sludge bomb should kill. Dont have the damage calc in front of me but 135 power after stab, 60 base atk vs 78 base def and hp, and a 23 lvl lead sounds like enough to secure a kill.

Your challenges are the best, they're so hardcore. No flooding the battle field with x items to get souped up stats, no duplicating rare candy again and again to avoid grinding, no strategies that rely solely on luck like double team. You go the distance with tactical skill, perseverance and 1 little Pokemon, and show the zubat, feebas, spinarak, kriketot and trubbish of the world what their hard work can do! Love it.
