Can You Beat Pokémon Platinum Using Only Unown?

After over a year, I'm finally doing another Unown Only Challenge. I think the Crystal run slightly traumatised me so I really needed to build up to this. We're taking on the Sinnoh Region and asking the question, "can you beat Pokémon Platinum using only Unown?"

Unown Researcher Salty leon would win in a 1v1 vs Cynthia, just saying

@@AshenDust_ He really wouldn't. If you look at Cynthia's team, her team is stronger all-round. Aegislash is the only massive threat on Leon's team, with the rest being dangerous, but Cynthia has counters to 90% of his team. Dragapult: Garchomp or Milotic. Haxorus: Same. Aegislash: Spiritomb or Lucario. Rhyperior: Milotic, Roserade or Lucario. Whatever Starter he goes for: Milotic for Fire, Roserade for Water, Roserade or Togekiss arguably for Grass too. Charizard: Milotic or Garchomp, with Lucario or Togekiss having an out as well. So no, Leon wouldn't beat Cynthia. She is hailed as the 'strongest Champion' for a reason.

Xagerx10 Leon can also counter her whole team. Leon’s pokemon are all competitively viable, while some cynthia’s are weak, like spiritomb and rosarade. Any of his pokemon that aren’t weak to it could beat spiritomb. Charizard, Mr Rime or Cinderace would destroy roselia, even Rhyperior andIntellion have super effective moves against it. Seeing the amount of Pokémon Togekiss is weak too, I’m just gonna stop here. Btw garchomp gets outspeed and OKOed by Dragapult

Yes. If you have tried writing yourself, you really realise how well-written those scripts are. Finding all those different ways of referring to the same thing is quite a feat already. You know, I've always wanted to use an Unown in a Pokémon team. Perhaps not to the crazy extent of using only Unown to take on a Pokémon game, but I've always liked their design and mystery. It's a shame they exist pretty much as a gimmick (I've always thought it would be cool if their move-set was expanded to include all the other 'power' moves) but it'll be cool to see them prove viable with this video... hopefully. 0:43 - Ah, I didn't think of that. Dark types moves are oddly commonly on non-Dark types; probably the 2nd most common typing of attack for a non-Dark type to have actually. 2:12 - STAB Psychic would be great if you didn't have to worry about immune Dark types. Doesn't this make the battle against Jupiter's Skuntank impossible? 6:27 - It already seemed impossible when taking into account it being a Skuntank, let alone it having Night Slash. Yet here you are taking down Dark types with Night Slash. Your dedication to this is absolutely insane. 8:55 - The convenient name got a good chuckle out of me. I suppose we should be cheering for Team ALSTXW from here on... not sure how to pronounce that. An I just noticed the convenient name and type by the side; cool presentation touch. 13:09 - Having multiple Unown's really improved the entertainment factor of the battles. The Barry and Cyrus battles around this point were particularly fun to watch, helped of course by your witty narration. 15:15 - An thus your true challenge begins; Ice Gym Puzzles. 18:03 - Incredibly frustrating? I figured a Double Battle would make things easier. How could this battle- 'watches the battle' -oh... that's how it could be frustrating. I'm pretty sure this was Barry getting his revenge for those earlier no-hit victories of yours. His later U-Turn strategy team would seem to prove that point. 28:40 - All his 'grassiest' thoughts? W-what does that even mean!? Anyway, amazing video here. The Elite Four and Champion battles were thrilling and the final clash between Wasabi and Togekiss was surprisingly epic!

when using struggle first you might also want to have mentioned that since gen4 struggle calculates recoil differently than before. like before recoil on struggle specifcally was a part of the damage dealt however gen4 onwards struggle is a set 1/4 of your own max health, rounded down so if your health is divisible by 4 you are guaranteed to die in 4 uses, if not you get somewhere between 1 and 3 health left

instead of overleveling all of your pokemon, you could catch different Unown for different situations, and let the Unown be around the same level as your opponent's pokemon, this would make the video more interesting in my opinion.

Not 100% true. The stupid math for Hidden Power should let an ault roll get Dark. I think you can without all 31 IV rolls.

Hidden Power is random based on IV's so to get Fighting you need what might be millions of random rolls hoping for Fighting so that roll might have never happened. You can't fully control the IV's.
