The egg you get is determined by your starter choice, and since he picked Quaxly (since Nemona had Skeledirge), he would have been guaranteed to receive Piplup.

i love how keegan always changes yhe story a bit with his character. like here, where team star is his enemy because he is a robot and that nemona is not a rival, she is an enemy for him too. this is more interesting than just one stroyline for all the runs

I'm actually dying of laughter. I did the same challenge in Violet not long ago (with similar rules, so thank you Keegan for the inspiration there) and I also made my protagonist into an AI. She was an android from the future that Turo had reprogrammed to help him take over the world, but she ended up turning on him and destroying the Time Machine with an orbital laser.

So explanation for that rain thing at like 14:00 . The weather is selected when battle starts and even if overworld weather changes (which is on a cycle) it won't change mid battle. So it can look like it isn't raining but still be raining.

And Dual Wingbeat with U Turn for good measure. That Sawamura name, I name it from one of my favorite sports anime Hajime no Ippo, from a boxer Sawamura and his signature move "Bullet Punch"
