out of curiosity, if you decide to do a Unova/Galar playthrough, could you try a solo playthrough with the Litwick line? I think Shield would give you the easiest time since you'd face Melony instead of Gordie

This is an excellent idea for a follow up video! Platinum is my favorite game in the series, but gen 5 is my favorite gen. I bet it would also be possible to beat Black/White version with a litwick and without using minimize, but the xp grind would be agonizing. I might also have to suspend my rule of no saving between elite 4 members for that run given how hard the trainer battles can be in gen 5 and how the final boss fight is laid out. I especially like that it would give litwick a chance to shine in its home region. You get it so late and it evolves at such high levels I bet not very many people have used it on a playthrough team.

you can definitely use just Litwick, but I was gonna let you evolve it too

@@harleyhollis Nah, chandelure is very strong. I think it would be more interesting as a challenge if I had to use a litwick the whole way through. It would force me to strategize.

@@harleyhollis This video took me a very long time to make since I record and edit everything myself and don't play with speed up (playing in real time makes the footage look nicer and it's easier and more consistent to speed it up in editing imo). I have plenty of other more simple gaming videos to work on uploading in the meantime, but even if I started a new pokemon run right now it would take me weeks at a minimum to upload. I'll def get around to it at some point though, especially with how much people seemed to enjoy this one!

Now do it again with perma death >:) I think one time situations to use items, like against that torterra, is fair. Same with that unskippable double battle. Hard to make set in rules for exceptions like that. But what do I know, I barely play Pokémon lol. Anyway, wow, fantastic video! Great editing, great script. :D

i'm still at the start of the video but i love the approach, this is one of those channels that you can just tell is gonna blow up soon also i feel like a wipe counter (or even a 'max attempts on one fight' counter) could be a good way of measuring luck vs skill-based strategies?

Yeah, I tried to make sure I mentioned every wipe/attempt in the script, but simply adding some counters would make sense. Significantly more effort in editing, but I think that would be a worthwhile addition.

That really depends it SUCKS against a Rock/ground gym and theirs at least ONE and If a STRONGER version of Whitney's Milktank is in this one its ever MORE annoying to kill if you don't kill it in 1 hit.
