First off, I just want to thank everyone who's watched this video. It truly means a lot to me. If you want a legitimate answer as to how Sonic survived the fall, there might actually be one. Humans often die from falls like that because we are very dense, and density is a large factor towards increasing terminal velocity (max speed possible during a drop). As we can see from Sonic's limbs, he will have very light bones and muscles, and will definitely need a light frame in order to actually get moving with how small they are. Then there's the length of his limbs and the quills. Both of these will serve to increase air drag, reducing terminal velocity even more. I don't know enough to definitively say he would survive unscathed... but humans have survived falls at that height before, so it's likely a frame like Sonic's would have a much higher chance of surviving with less injuries.

I would have added the fact that irl hedgehog quills act as shock absorbers due to an evolutionary adaptation that was originally intended to allow the hedgehog to stick attackers with their quills without the quills puncturing the hedgehog in the process, *IF SONIC DIDN’T LAND FACE FIRST BOTH TIMES HE FELL FROM A GREAT HEIGHT.*

How exactly is the "no right" challenge any different than this one? Both involve removing fundamental mechanics from use. Due to the nature of 2D games having less directional freedom than 3D games from the get go, I'd argue the "no right" challenge is more restrictive and impressive from a theory crafting perspective. SA's jump attack and spin dash are beyond jank and can be used for all kind of crazy maneuverability, making this run ultimately quite trivial by comparison. Just Saiyan.

Yeah, I experimented for a while trying to get past the section. I just tried everything I could think of and ended up bouncing off the whale. Once I did that, I just kept practicing it until I could do the skip regularly.

I would normally play the game that way but I didn't have a reliable way to record gameplay so I just settled with the 360 version instead

Sonic Adventure is backwards compatible on current xbox consoles. Also, I only have a laptop. It plays the game fine but struggles when trying to record it at the same time.

When playing and recording at the same time, the game would run normally, but the video would sometimes be choppy, and I'd rather have a video with consistent framerate. Recording using a capture card on a console was always gonna be better than screen recording a laptop that's not really meant for gaming.
