God I want a Remake...

i don't get why they didn't just remake sonic 1 from the ground up for the handheld. that way they could make it run smoothly, make new sprites that look good on the screen and will let you see what's Infront of you, and that way they could sell it as a full-on remake of sonic 1.

Just thought of something: you keep saying this whole story is somehow an ideological clash where no character is inherently wrong. But if Shadow was in this story, the real Shadow, would he feel this conflict? Not saying he'd side with Merlina per se, but would he be so quick to take Sonic's side? After all, he knows what its like to see something he cares about end, and not particularly in a good way. It would have been a good opportunity to see Shadow connect with Sonic through this journey.

Doesn't getting all the chaos emeralds unlock the sound test, which has a bunch of sound effects not even in the game? Pretty sure that's the purpose of the emeralds in this game.

I have this game and a ND lite it lags all the time. Also it doesn't play like the mega drive version. Just get Sonic Advance 1-3.

I've heard this was made off the mobile port. If that is true, then seeing that this was 2005-2006, it was probably programmed in Java. Java is an EXTREMELY slow language, since it runs on a virtual machine (think an "emulator" of sorts). So basically, the GBA is emulating Sonic (not running it natively), with the expected worsened performance that comes with it, in a console that can't handle it.

Sonic and friends have never taken fall damage in any game before or (to my knowledge) since. Why should he lose that ability because it was in a cutscene?

This game above any other shows Sonic will do what HE feels is the right thing to do regardless of how he’s perceived by anyone

Project reignition (The fan remake of secret rings) is much better than the original. It’s like project 06 for sonic 06 but with secret rings, you should try it if you haven’t already, much better controls and all skills are there from the get go

Overall, still manages to be a good Sonic game. A duology remaster with Black Knight while having improved controller support would be heavenly. (To me, stories in Sonic games are even or maybe even slightly more important than the gameplay. The comics and widely agreed upon best aspects of the Sonic series, like character personalities and interactions, has to be a testament to that.)

This game has the best art direction in the series IMO. Simply excellent. From the cutscenes, to levels, how the humanoid characters are designed, and the menu...just top quality.
