Terraria x Binding of Isaac crossover would be insane. Imagine weapons like brimstone for mage, guppy's head for summoner, mom's knife or bone club for melee, and some type of tears for ranged. And it could have accessories like soy milk and continuum. So many isaac items would just work in terraria and make for a godly crossover, although accessories would have to be really late game to be balanced.

I'm ngl. Yoyo's are such a core part of the game now that I completely forgot that was crossover content. Explains why their class line didn't really get fully fleshed out. Probably should have waited for 1.4.5 tbh. It shouldn't be that far away. Hopefully. I know the dead cells crossover was announced like 2 years ago at this point though lol and yeah. Yoyo's aren't a class line anymore then swords, flails, boomerangs, and spears are. They're a weapon type and one of the most fleshed out of the bunch. There is a yoyo for every stage of the game, meaning at no point in my yoyo only run did I ever feel under powered or weak. They have a great set of accessories that eventually combine into one. They are a better weapon than the boomerang, spear and flail when it comes to melee. Even the swords only beat it because of variety.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind the Old One's Army event? Yes, it's a little tedious, but using the Lightning Aura Traps is usually the way to cheese the event? Placing at least 3-4 of them in front of the portals makes it so trivial for most ground forces and you simply need to keep on eye on flying creatures.

I use the ballista weapons with the Squire/Valhalla Knight armor. The boost the armor gives the ballistae really adds up, and they can hit Betsy in the air, which is nice. Though I'm usually using Scourge of the Corruptor, Seedler or Possessed Hatchet by then, which would make the event a breeze with any sentries.

As a Valhalla Knight Armor and Flying Dragon enjoyer: - Take on Tier 1 right before killing a mech boss, then fight tier 2 right right before killing golem. From there, complete tier 3 whenever you feel ready. Trust me, taking on this event too early will drive you to insanity and beyond. I definitely didn't learn this the hard way. - If you're using a weapon with bouncing projectiles (like the water bolt or shadowbeam staff), encase your arena in a box for b i g g e r d a m a g e - Kobold Gliders explode upon contact with blocks, so all it takes is putting a roof over the crystal to completely negate all of their damage. So long as they don't decide to go after you instead, they're one less thing to worry about - Clinger Staff. That's all I need to say. Reforge it to something powerful, put it in front of a portal, and it'll delete a HUGE chunk of the enemies coming through. The Rainbow Gun works wonders as well, and the Nimbus Rod will squeeze out a little more damage. Just make sure to reuse them all since they despawn after a little bit If you ever take on the Old One's Army again (willingly or not lmao) I hope my experience will help make it a little more bearable. I think the reason you didn't die in the EoW fight is the same reason you didnt die to that close boulder earlier; something else damaged you first. In the boulder's case (which did hit you), the slime actually hit you first, and then the boulder phased through you. In the Eater of Worlds fight, you actually happened to take 60 fall damage *right* as the bomb went off, which prevented it again

I'm a bit over half way through, and i find this revelation amusing, he's saying the point of the challenge is to bringing obscure items to work with, so let's just be a yoyo summoner, and it hits me, "hang on a second, this is just the way I play terraria" I usually uses yoyos and Abigail for a lot of a playthrough along with some magic weapon to make use of my large mana pool (post mech bosses is when I just go general yoyo summoner)

As The Old One's Army's #1 defender, I'm happy to finally see someone actually play the thing in a Terraria playthrough. A bit unfortunate that it was also your *only* way to get any weapons worth a damn (which likely made the experience Not Great™), it seems like you managed to figure it all out.

I've actually done this challenge myself, prior! The only difference was that I was allowed the copper shortsword. I did not use any Betsy weapons, because she's harder than ML for me. I also did it in vanilla. Edit: I also used no armor pre-mech

Calamity mod with only weapons from the most recent update is possible, as long as you start in hardmode, and it's actually a really interesting challenge. I would recommend trying it. Also, cool video!

How about a “only using items available at world generation”, initially I thought “only 1.0 loot” but that means nothing from Hardmode is allowed, so only available on worldgen would be more doable. The idea behing that you can only use items that can be obtained from a source generated with the world fresh, which, to specify: anything that generates as part of a new world is fair game when it’s accessible (biome chests mainly), but ore from demon alters is off limits as would hallow related items, as they don’t generate with the world

This at least keep the melee units from advancing, giving some more time to finish them. Or at least let you farm the most common ones banners at tier one, that helps a lot!

my best tip for the old one's army is to use as many boulder statues on timers as you can fit. on my old one's arenas i typically have like 30 or more. they completely flatten all the gound-based enemies, letting you focus on the wyverns/bosses which are very weak when you can put all your attention on them :). you just need a sloped block under each statue to make the boulder roll to the portals. you can even use actuators to stack multiple rows of statues on top of eachother if you want. obviously you couldn't have used those in this playthrough (unless you consider them an indiana jones crossover), but they make old one's perfectly relaxing and approachable at every stage of the game. you can build a platform above the traps to fight betsy without boulders raining on you. i also find that making a tower of platforms around the crystal is very helpful, since it helps ballistas to target wyverns.

OoA any diff [Spoiler block] Arena: Mark a central point, and clear flat ground 120 tiles left and 120 tiles right. Mark the point 60 tiles each side distinctively. (eg gemspark block) Stand at the midspot and make an area of background walls. Create a layer of platforms at head height. Jump up a layer and repeat placing background walls and platforms. Do this until you have a structure at least 3 floors high. T1, first clear gear: Explosive sentry and fireball sentry. Pumpkin armour or better. Menacing on all accessories. Ideally mobility accessories reforged, otherwise just spam craft string etc. First clear strategy: Start with a mine under 1 portal. Stress over the spawns until you have 2 mines on/near each portal and a fireball turret on both 60 spots. Spare sentries placed as fireball sentries around middle. Note the spawning side of troll. (Should be left unless arena is setup weirdly) T1, farming: Reforged Explosive & Fireball with good damage modifier, menacing OoA accessory, Non OoA sentry, Zoologist horse mount, good whip, hornet/imp minions, bee/spider armour. OoA table, Dungeon table for +1 sentry +1 minion. Campfire buffs etc. Hang banners on the platforms. Strategy: Place non-OoA sentries both portals, go make a coffee, tap crystal to speed up waves until stuff actually reaches you. Place first 6 OoA sentries as before (2 mines, 1 fireball per side) Dump all remaining OoA sentries as fireball on troll spawn side between portal and 60. Resummon all non-ooa sentries troll side and spawn camp his portal. Unrestricted summoner can get multiple kills on him per event even in mastermode. Farm until you have the medals saved to immediately buy t2 sentries. If your setup is going well farm for immediate armour too. Event is good pre-mech plat if you are farming multiple trolls. T2: Mostly the same, but mage can aoe heal, so you may need 3rd mine. On easier difficulties, the crystal has fewer hp and can die to gliders, so extra fireballs above crystal if it's an issue. Plat farming mage isn't as good as troll was, so just farm for t3 medals. T3: Explosive mines, ballista, valhalla knight. 3 mines each side, everything else should be ballista on the platforms above crystal. On harder difficulties you can cheese by recalling away, sitting on a spike for ballista panic, and letting the crystal tank betsy. Assuming you aren't cheesing, betsy has a fairly predictable pattern, just keep her in easy range of ballista fire. The arena is handy for other events/invasions, and you can bling it out with qol features like actuated loot conveyors, heart statues etc.

Honestly, OOA isnt too bad, have two platforms on the sides to block enemies (using the glitched pathing with a replaced block), then have a small tower of platforms to put flamebursts on to hit the wyverns, this blocks like 90%, allowing you to pick off ground units, or focus on flying enemies that manage to slip through, though with summons, your main focus would be the boss :D

It's funny, when the 1.3 (?) update launched, I wanted to try out the yo-yos to their fullest extent alongside the Summoner updates. My first playthrough with my friends on that update, I went with a "Bow-Yo Summoner" build, working in bows since they're a generally pretty underutilized weapon. Interesting to see how you channeled exactly that through this.

I'm annoyed that you didn't also go for Betsy's Wrath, as I deem it a must-have for any class. That 40 defense drop is no joke. On the other hand, you've already driven yourself mad from the OOA so after getting something like the Flying Dragon I can't blame you for wanting to burn the crystal stand
