I just started my first GROUNDED playthrough. It's a big change from NORMAL difficulty. I couldn't imagine going through GROUNDED with no pick ups. Very impressed.

Thanks! I went from normal to grounded as well and it’s a big learning curve, but once you know the game well enough and are used to it, grounded makes it a lot more immersive and fun imo.

@@makhibarber7213 Truly. If you approach grounded with some intelligence and planning it's very doable. Stealth is key. I actually finish part 1 and part 2 with a full inventory, every supply and every bomb/Molotov. Next play through I'll actually start using them.

11:27 Actually, you can spend less ammo/resources by setting it on fire which doubles all damage it receives. This is what is done in speedruns of the game. 14:12 Again, a little speedrun tip . You can book it in a straight line through the middle of that fight all the way over to the barn where you escape. This is so consistent I remember seeing a Grounded Permadeath speedrunner do it.

For the one part on day two Ellie with the stalkers and one clicker, obliviously, if you get attacked by a stalker the clicker is alerted and the only way to get to the clicker is to not get seen. Since the clicker spawns not close to the player it is impossible. For some reason, if you die once the clicker spawns closer so in that part you wouldn’t have to use a bullet and just use the knife of it. Then the stalkers you would deal with the same.

Actually you save a little pick up probably because there is a hidden feature in the rat king fight where if it is on fire it takes double amount of damage and i have done it in 3 hunting pistol bullets,5 rifle ammo,around 75 flamethrower ammo(on grounded) but considering we can't pick up hunting pistol this number can go up. But anyways love the vid

When Joel and Ellie fight the bloater, you could let the bloater get you for a fake death and end the scene quicker and save ammo, since Joel takes out the bloater by himself ❤

i’m not sure how but after the car chase as abby day 1 i started with 18 rifle bullets and 6 pistol bullets (i believe that’s what it is) and i shot at the scars and still have 18 and 6 bullets after

I believe this is different depending on the difficulty. I don’t remember the exact difficulty where it changes to less ammo for this sequence, but playing on Survivor/grounded gives you 9 and 3 bullets while playing on light gives you 18 and 6.

seems interesting to count the arcade bloater as zero pickups simply because it can be defeated with a knife (and a bunch of bricks) This level of commitment is impressive to zero pickups, but he didn't mention how he got past that part. did he pick up things that didn't count because someone else beat the bloater with a knife?

I think because its about if you can finish the game without picking anything up and even though, maybe, he couldn't do it personally, the clip he showed proves that you can kill the bloater without picking anything up. Atleast that's how I interpreted it.

@@neatznotso7424 that’s exactly it. I personally wasn’t able to do it (after about 5 hours of trying) but theoretically it’s possible because someone else did it with a knife only. The bricks help, but you can kill the runners without bricks so technically it should be possible, I just lack the skill to do it myself lol.

That’s an interesting point. I could’ve saved that bullet and used it for the bloater later on, but ultimately I think it doesn’t change the playthrough much since I ended Ellie’s half with 0 item pickups.

I managed to lose off 1 Rifle bullet for the rat king by firing my flamethrower in bursts, if you grab the 3 bullet and not the two and two then you can save an item!

This is good to know! I remember spending so long on that part and couldn’t find much info on how to kill the rat king more effectively at the time (honestly don’t remember if I knew that about the flamethrower). Do you have a recording of doing this with 1 less rifle bullet? If so I’d definitely be interested to see it!

IIRC digital foundry did a test with tlou2 on ps5 I’d recommend you watch it, it’s pretty in depth with the frame rate and loading time improvements.

Can someone explain to me how to dodge hits so effectively like I can dodge maybe one and then get hit do u have to just spam crouch or sm? Explain

My advice is just to focus on attack patterns with visual and audio cues. For example runners have a few attacks where they’ll swing like 3 times so it’s just a matter of knowing the timing and dodging them. Sometimes they’ll lunge at you which can be hard to anticipate but really the key is just patience and being used to their attacks. Same with brute characters: they’re pretty predictable if you dodge just after their backswing and you can hear them winding up for a hit or a grab. Dodging can be tough on higher difficulties and sometimes you get unlucky but my best advice is just really focus on the same patterns and listen closely to audio cues for when an enemy will attack.

You actually need to pick up the code sheet to continue from the first area since picking it up allows you to interact with the gate keypad in the first area. Without it I don’t think a button prompt appears to enter that gate code.

I didn’t. It made some parts more annoying, but I’d often just rely on stealth/avoiding scenarios where I would take damage. Also there’s a few moments in the game where it gives you back full health after longer cutscenes so that helped too. It’s surprisingly easy to just not heal at all but a big part of that is because this was like my 5th or 6th playthrough so even on grounded I already had a strategy for every level.

That is easy. Just play the game in hard or harder and you will see scavenging gets you practically nothing so you will find out really quick if you can beat it or not.

No. You can miss out on weapons by not looting and you can get weapons early by interacting with the world. That's impressive for a linear story based game. (Also just say shit who cares)
