Oh I'm seeing this! It's great to meet you Sergei :-) I normally try to multitask while I watch videos, but I ended up being captivated for the whole journey. The start of your skaven army is looking reaaaaalllly good, congratulations on the incredible efficiency! :-) Also the reveal at the end.. you started at 12AM????? hahahaha, oh wow that sounds rough. I like to get a good night's rest and start at 10AM when I try something goofy like this hehehe

Great to meet you too Brent! That is one hell of a compliment and I appreciate it a lot, especially since your video was the inspiration for this one =) Well I though that I would be able to paint longer and with more efficiency if I would sleep until 10 AM and then start building at 12 AM, still don't know if that was such a great idea ^^ Thank you for watching and your feedback, that's definitly a major highlight of my youtube adventure!

This was a fantastic video! The models turned out really nicely. You're right, the freehand writing on the banners and books did a ton for making the unit pop.

The Bases: 1. Mix some Milliput and Greenstuff together, first both parts of these on their own, then all together. About 80% Milliput and 20% Greenstuff. Mix it really good, that should take some time. 2. Put a piece on each base, flatten it out a bit, with wet hands for example (I put every base on double sided Tape, that would make every step a lot more comfortable. 3. Make everything wet (including the roller) and roll over with a texture roller (I bought one from Greenstuff World, but It is also possible to 3D Print your own). 4. Into the Oven, 40 to 50 °C for 15 minutes, take it out and let it cool afterwards. 5. If everything is dry and hard, Water down some PVA Glue (10% Water / 90% PVA) and put some sand over the PVA. 6. Oven again, same conditions. 7. Prime Everything with Mechanicus Standard Grey 8. Drybrush Or Wash, you can switch these two steps, depending on the look you want to achieve 9. Wash everything with Nuln Oil 10. Drybrush heavily with Dawnstone Grey 11. Light Drybrush with Ulthuan Grey 12. Paint the Sand with Cygor Brown Contrast 13. Wash the Sand and the area around the Sand with Asmodian Casmoshade 14. Put some dry or brown tufts onto your bases 15. Paint the rims of the base with Abbadon Black Plague Monks: 1. Prime with Black and then Zenithal White (Optional only White) 2. Paint all the Flesh/Skin Areas and Tail with Guilliman Fleshs Contrast, make sure not to paint other areas because we use more Contrast paints on those. 3. Paint the Robes with Millitarum Green Contrast (did the banner too) 4. Paint the Fur Parts and the Nose with Cygor Brown Contrast 5. Paint all the wooden parts with Wyldwood Contrast 6. Paint all the leather parts with Snakebite Leather Contrast 7. Paint the Tongue/Mouth section with Screamer Pink and wash it with Druchii Violet (you could Druchii Violet at this point to wash the Tails too, to make them more purple) 8. For the Eyes basecoat with Averland Sunset, Paint a dot with Abbadon Black and then a Glaze of Red, like Bloodletter 9. Paint all the Parchments, Teeth, Claws, Nails, Bones, Belts, Skulls with Ceramic White / Dead White and After everything is dry, paint those areas with Skeleton Horde Contrast 10. Paint all the metals, Leadbelcher Basecoat, Nulnoil Wash and Highlight with Stormhost Silver For Bronze Metalls I used Warplock Bronze, Washed everything with Nihilan Oxide and after everything was dry, a drybrush with Brass Scorpion 11. Mimic some writing on the parchment by painting an undefined line with Rhinox Hide and some Skaven marks with a Red Color like Khorne Red. 12. Rust effects on the metal parts (mainly weapons and banner) with a thick layer of Dirty Down Rust Effect 13. The Banner Logo was painted with Rhinox Hide and then Khorne Red on top, so you still got the outline of Rhinox Hide around your symbol.   Grey Seer: 1. Prime with Black and then Zenithal White (Optional only White) 2. Paint all the Flesh/Skin Areas and Tail with Guilliman Fleshs Contrast, make sure not to paint other areas because we use more Contrast paints on those. 3. Paint the Skirt with Terradon Turqoise Contrast 4. Wash the upper Robe with Nuln Oil and Drybrush with Ulthuan Grey, then Edge Highlight with Ceramic White 5. Paint the Fur and Nose with Mechanicus Standard Grey, Wash with Nuln Oil and Layer/Drybrush some Stormvermin Fur on top 6. Paint the Tongue/Mouth section with Screamer Pink and wash it with Druchii Violet (you could Druchii Violet at this point to wash the Tails too, to make them more purple) 7. For the Eyes basecoat with Averland Sunset, Paint a dot with Abbadon Black and then a Glaze of Red, like Bloodletter 8. Paint all the Horns, Teeth, Claws, Nails, Bones, Belts, Skulls with Ceramic White / Dead White and After everything is dry, paint those areas with Skeleton Horde Contrast 9. Paint all the metals, Leadbelcher Basecoat, Nulnoil Wash and Highlight with Stormhost Silver For Bronze Metalls I used Warplock Bronze, Washed everything with Nihilan Oxide and after everything was dry, a drybrush with Brass Scorpion Rat Ogre: 1. Prime with Black and then Zenithal White (Optional only White) 2. Paint all the Flesh/Skin Areas and Tail with Guilliman Fleshs Contrast, make sure not to paint other areas because we use more Contrast paints on those. 3. Some Layers with Cadian Fleshtone on the skin. 4. Blood Angels Red Contrast into the cuts and scars on the skin and then paint the Skirt too. 5. Edge Highlight with Fire Dragon Bright on the Red Skirt 6. Paint the Fur and Nose with Mechanicus Standard Grey, Wash with Nuln Oil and Layer/Drybrush some Stormvermin Fur on top 7. Paint all the metals, Leadbelcher Basecoat, Nulnoil Wash and Highlight with Stormhost Silver 8. Paint all the Bandages, Teeth, Bones, Belts, Skulls with Ceramic White / Dead White and After everything is dry, paint those areas with Skeleton Horde Contrast except the Bandages on the head, which we wash with Nuln Oil 9. Paint the Claws on hand and feet with Abbadon Black, Then Edge Highlight with mechanicus Standard Grey and Dawnstone 10. Blood for the blood God on the bandages, where the eyes would be 11. Rust effects on the metal parts (mainly Chains) with a thick layer of Dirty Down Rust Effect   Plague Claw Rat Team: 1. Prime with Black and then Zenithal White (Optional only White) 2. They Eyes on the Mask: Bascoat with Abbadon Black, Paint a dop form onto the bottom of the lense with Khorne Red, bright that color up with fire dragon bright and start painting smaller areas. Lastly a point of Ceramic White on the Upper Area / Opposite Position, and a layer of ardcoat overall to make it gloss. 9. Rust effects on the metal parts (mainly levers) with a thick layer of Dirty Down Rust Effect 10. Vomit Effect on the pan: Basecoat with Vomit Brown, Wash with Carroburg Crimson, Layer or Drybrush lightly with Vomit Brown again, mix some Screaming Scull into Vomit Brown and Layer/Drybrush again on less surface. Another excellent video, and well worth the wait! For a "rush job" all of those models came out so well. It does feel like a shame that we're in this "new age" of Warhammer now, I kind of miss the old square bases, movement trays, and massive rank and file armies squaring off against each other. I haven't done a 24-hour art project, but me and some friends did try to complete a day-one raid in the videogame Destiny 2 once. It ended up taking me 23 hours and 40 minutes, I just barely got a day-one completion. I know exactly what you mean about the extra energy you get out of nowhere after the first 8-10 hours and having to take a couple of days to recover.
@MiniQuest64
@MiniQuest64 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I think the new Age is okay, it's just a shame that the old age is...lost. The unique look of massive rank files in old white dwarf magazines, I guess I just can't move away from that. Maybe like the SNES and N64, the old classics that still hold up to modern games. Oh man.. Destiny, I remember playing the first one and it's Add'ons with a group of friends on a daily basis. We had some great times with that game, even if it was repetitive and the pvp-mulitplayer had more bad then good moments it had a unique "gun-feeling" I haven't experienced since then.

I just finished my own Pestilens starter set a few days ago!!! You did a fantastic job, I'd love to see more Skaven content from you! I stuck to the box for the most part, and decided to build the Screaming bell, in stead of the furnace. But now that I've moved on from it, I've been doing custom paint jobs, with my units. Keep it up man, you'll go so far. I feel your potential!

First of all I want to say thank you, I appreciate it a A LOT! I found the starter Box to be really diverse and fun to paint because of the different units and color schemes I got to use, how was your experience with that box? The Isle of Blood Starter Set is still waiting for me, but since I bought it pre-owned I would have to start stripping the models first, otherwise I could paint the spare grey seer from the SC Box. What would you like to see if I may ask? (Unit, kind of painting speed/quality/contrast) Thank you for watching and your kind words, I still need to improve so many things and decide out of so many projects which to make a video about, but I will try my best =)

@@MiniQuest64 Well, it being my first ever step into miniature painting, it was initially very daunting! My first few models of plague monks were really sloppy. But the quality of paint quickly got better with each model I finished. Painting the catapult, and bell was actually surprisingly easy, when compared to the much smaller monks. Just took a lot of time lol. I'd love to see you paint any one of the Vermin-lords, or a hell-pit abomination of your own! When it comes to the style of video, I'll watch whatever you have fun with, as thats always gonna be the most engaging content, to me! I look upon your types of channels for inspiration, and techniques to adapt with my own paints. Its just unfortunate that Warhammer fantasy, is so relatively unexplored compared to 40K, so it'll be a great treat whenever you upload anything related to the universe!
@MiniQuest64
@MiniQuest64 2 жыл бұрын
@Thanteus Welcome to the hobby then! Great to have you here! The minipainting community is one of the friendliest I've ever experienced. Definitely check out the subreddit "minipainting" Often times big models like the catapult are way more easier to paint, they look intimidating at first, but it's mostly metals and wood on there, I experienced that my painting level went up pretty fast by painting many miniatures at once (although I hate bulk painting, and enjoy characters much more). As for Skaven, I would like to paint the Stormfiends or a character but my pile of shames is so big it just doesn't justify another purchase at the time :D Warhammer fantasy is not unexplored though, It is just simply old and by the time it was popular, youtube videos and tutorials about the topic weren't as they are now for example. I love Warhammer Fantasy, the sculpts, the lore, suqare base regiments, all of it. But making videos about such a topic definitely comes with a downside, it just doesn't attract that many people and the content is kind of limited, just look at my only 40k Video which just recently reached 10k views. Absolutely Insane! But don't worry, I'll keep making Warhammer Fantasy Videos ^^ Right now I'm working on a Diorama for the Murloc's and it takes more time than expected because I had a miscast with epoxy. After that I might make a "3D Resin printing Video".

Awesome job ... When I heard you say that you were gluing the frame together, I knew what was coming as I've done the same thing. I've got 2 more bells to paint shortly and not making the same mistake. Also I think that I've got maybe 60-80 plague monks that I need to paint, maybe I should save that for a 24hr challange.

I was very suprised too. Don't know if I had been able to continue for the remaining time though! After I put the brush down my eyes were coming down hard too, so it definitly had some cons and pros to build and paint as fast as possible for as long as I could. It had to get used to the camera setup while painting, but I think it was the best possibilty I had. Thanks though for your feedback and nice comment again! The main problem i figured out was that while your concentration and motivation is at the highest point, you have to do the most simple steps (building, priming, painting big parts quickly before the details), and at the point you are ready for details like eyes, edge highlights and so on, your concentration is almost gone. Best wishes to you too! What will be your next project if I may ask?

Prepare for a long post my friend :D The Bases: 1. I've only just started painting minis about a month ago. I haven't touched any of my Warhammer minis yet, I've just been practicing on a bunch of D&D mini's I've bought over the years. Frankly, I'm terrified to start painting my WH minis. I don't feel confident enough to start. Is my paint good enough? Are my brushes good enough? Is my hand steady enough? Am I skilled enough? What do I do if I hate the way it turns out? I just keep putting off actually painting them, so I keep painting the minis I don't care about. Eventually I'll have to put paint to plastic on my WH boys, but I don't know. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever feel good enough to start.

@Adrian Adams Thank you for watching buddy! I guess you are in a place where a lot of us mini-painters are/were before, I feel the same way about painting busts and 75mm models which are pretty intimidating to me. That's okay though, don't blame yourself for being there. The best advice I got for you is to paint the mini you WANT to paint, that way you will be motivated and have the most fun. Don't force yourself to paint things you actually don't want to. For are all your questions you stated, most paints are good, most cheap brushes will do and a shaking hand doesn't matter if the mini shakes the same way =) Personally, I started to improve myself by painting lots of minis instead of very detailed single characters (but I prefer those models to batch painting by far). So like a Unit of 5 to 10 Models in a week. I would also suggest to don't strip your minis, keep your old ones so you can compare those to your latest work and see how much you have improved over time. I don't know what kind of WH models you collect but most times you have a front line which can be painted pretty detailed while the models behind those can be of less quality. If you need some help, recommendations or want me to have a look at your minis and maybe give some advice/feedback, let me know and we can have a chat on discord! (I'm not an expert in any way though). If your an introvert like me and don't want to chat, I could also make a small video about that topic.

Thank you!! I was kinda surprised by the plague claw and screaming bell, I really thought it would be the most time consuming and difficult thing to paint. But it was actually the other way around, those were the most fun to paint models =)

Hello, what brushes do you use? 😊
@MiniQuest64

@Thomas McNair Hello there buddy =) Normally I use these brushes for everything I paint: Size 4 - da vinci real red sable - for painting big areas quick Size 1 - Winsor & Newton Series 7 - for layering and everything else except fine details Size 0 - da vinci real red sable - small details Size 00 - kolinsky Roubloff 101F - for dot's on the eyes, jewelry, scratches and very small details The da vinci ones are my favorites, the synthetic ones are really good too and you can get them in a pack for a good price.

If it's a superglue, you should be able to get rid of that with some isopropanol! But it highly depends on the kind of glue that has been used. Do you have any more information about that?
