@Seaspanker Outdoors - Well, I definitely have more fishing poles than I'll ever need...lol but not ever having been one to do much ultra light jigging you have me convinced I need another. Being a local SARL fisherman myself, between the two options of mini-jigging a 16th single or running a double on a dropshot, which of the two poles would you recommend being the best for the mud hole? I know it probably depends day to day on water clarity and temp but I think at least on this particular day you mentioned the dropshot was working best. Over the majority of time you've spent on the lake, what would be your #1 go to setup between these two rod and reel combos and setup?
@SeaSpankerOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Interesting question. I use two different action Katana’s for each technique simply because I’m fortunate enough to do it. If your looking for a real nice set up that your gonna spend some money on I would concentrate on a set up for min jigs. Dropshot is much easier to fish and can be done with most ultralight set ups. My favorite set up for mini jigs is definitely tge Katana #K4 7’ 6” split grip paired with a Shimano Vanquish 1000ssspg

Another great video! I'm super excited to head out this Friday to give the dropshot a try for the first time. I've always used mini jigs or bait n' wait in the past. Do you have to tie on a new mini jig each time you change colors or do you have some sort of jig head that you can just slip new colors on and off without having to retie? I'd love to find a faster way to cycle through mini jig colors until I find the one they're biting on. Thanks as always! I've learned a ton.

Some guys put the hook through the top of the jig and push the jig onto the lead head and change them that way. I use size L fly fishing snaps. Here is the link No-Knot Fast Snaps Fly Fishing... www.amazon.com/dp/B094QQZQG8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

1/32 and 1/16. You should try both at every lake you fish until you start getting bit

What is the best way to find trout in the murk other than guessing?
@SeaSpankerOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Typically when if your able to move around making lots of casts and seeing if you get bit. If you have to pick one spot then look at the shore line for small points, shallow areas in the water (can also be visible from shore if the bank leading up to the water is flatter than other areas, water may not be very deep or have a gradual slope), and any small coves are places Id start at and places where i believe the trout would be if that makes sense

Can you help me with picking up a new rods that's 6-5 or 7-00 give me 5 rods that's are under 130-$$$$$
@SeaSpankerOutdoors11 ай бұрын
No worries. I would like you to consider getting longer rods (7’ 6” or 8’) if you’re looking for rods for all types of trout fishing applications. Rods that are shorter in length are best used in specific applications like boats, tubes, kayaks, or streams and can be limiting when you need to make longer casts or if you wanted to work moving baits. All that said here are a few ultra light spinning rods that I either own or have actually handled in that price range that I recommend: Daiwa Presso, Daiwa Spinmatic, Okuma Celilo, and the Okuma SST. All of these rods can be found for under $100. Just let me know if you have any questions about specific models and applications 🤘
