nespresso is a coffee brand that makes little capsules of coffee to put into your coffee machine. sounds cool but actually creates huge amounts of wasted aluminium capsules, so a pen made of those capsules recycled is very awesome! good video, i enjoyed it!

@@peter_draws Hi. When your'e drawing with a pen like this and a lot of heavy ink is saturating the paper, it appears to me that you will sometimes go over your lines with even more ink. is the ink dry when you go over it again? If not then do you find the paper damages ever? This is a problem I have when using brush pens like Posca and it kind of stresses me out. The paper kind of pulpifies under the pen. Am I using the wrong paper? Thank you.

Hey Peter! I don't know if you're gonna see this, but one of the biggest advantages of Pilot Parallel pens for art-making is that you can easily do color gradients! If you load a color in one pen, and a different color in another, then you hold the tips next to each other for a while, the color bleeds over and you can easily do a gradient--something to play around with in a future video?

If the pen is only working with cartidges you can take a Pipette (dont know If Thats the right word) and Fill the ink in the empty cartridge so you dont Need to buy the cartridges and with that you have less plasticwaste. Dont know If Thats understandable (My englisch is Not the best) but Thats the way i refill my brushpen when i want to use it Outsider of my house
@BenFalkenstein
@BenFalkenstein 5 жыл бұрын
Probably been said already, but you can fill the handle with ink or re-fill the cartridge. Ecoline ink seems to be the most popular but I've seen others use whatever ink they want. Using the small cartridge allows you to change colors sooner rather than waiting for the entire handle to been empty. But! The cool thing is you can have one color in your cartridge and dip the nib in another color, and while you draw the color starts to blend from the nib color to the cartridge color. Very cool.

So, for the Pilot Parallel pens, if you don't want to deal with cartridges, it's worth knowing that the handle is entirely hollow and a single piece of plastic. This means you can just fill it directly with ink, and the nib section is sufficiently watertight that it holds the ink and feeds fine. It holds enough for weeks of regular use or months of infrequent use. I have one I use as a drawing pen, filled with brown walnut ink as an accent to black ink in sketches. I've had it for years, regularly leave it untouched for months, and I've never had to clean it; the parallel plates seem much less prone to clogging than a traditional nib. As long as you don't intend to change the color, it's a remarkably durable workhorse with ridiculous capacity.
@matthewramada922
@matthewramada922 5 жыл бұрын
Also I typically draw with calligraphy fountain pens; if you want them to post I find just wrapping a couple layers of tape around the end of the handle is sufficient. (I recommend gaffing tape as it is the best tape for everything.)

You have to try the insanely large fude nib on the Duke 551 Confucius. At low angles It’s like troweling the ink on with a palette knife but the line is pretty normal at higher angles. Sounds complicated, but it’s actually quite controllable. It’s about $35 without the fancy gift box.

My Kaweco Perkeo (The hot pink and black pen) always kind of loosely rattled between the section and the barrel even when fully tightened due to poor tolerances. But I wrapped a thin layer of plumber's tape around the threads and now the two halves screw together so perfectly snug that it feels like one solid implement. Recommended for anyone with the same issue. (Although, there are still four air-holes concealed in the finial of the barrel, so it's unsuitable for eyedropper conversion without occluding them with sealant of some kind.) Thanks for the video, Peter.

The "Recycled nespresso" thingies is an awesome news! There was this fad, I really hope it died out, that every coffee machine manufacturer has his own single use cartridge, all of which were special snowflake. And then you're left with a ton of waste and overpriced coffee. Your analogy of pre-filled car tank applies and in this case, you can only get the refill tanks of your car brand. Who wouldn't want that! Seeing those empty capsules being reused gives me the nice warm fuzzy feeling. Even though, vast majority of them ends up in landfills..

Watching this video made me grit my teeth. I kept getting this feeling like nails on a chalk board just from watching. It surfaced through this completely irrational thought that the edge of that pen is so thin that it had to be making an incredibly scratchy noise on the paper. I kept thinking how easily it would be to just cut through the paper with the edge of that pen, or how the pen edge was on the brink of breaking. Like i said...completely irrational. Really cool drawing you did there as always Peter, but it was incredibly uncomfortable to watch for me.

Peter your a very odd dude. Do you ever draw something of the real world instead of all that scribble you do? Just asking mate. Thank you for your product reviews.

You can fill ink cartridges with bottled ink. You just need a small syringe. They sell syringes for ink with flat needle tips. No points or edges. Just pump water into the cartridge to clear the old ink out, then fill it with ink from a bottle.
