My husband tried to cross at Sumas WA today. He is unvaccinated, has proof of ownership of property in Alaska and had all his belongings, clothes, tools, and an ORV in an enclosed trailer which they searched. He was told he couldn't cross because we haven't sold our house in WA yet. The kids wanted to finish out the school year and my job transfer isn't ready yet. Out of all the reasons he really didn't think that would be the one that prevented him from crossing.

Do you happen to have any information on traveling through with pets? I was told by someone, as long as they are updated with vet/shots/rabbies, etc. I have also sent you another question about being a renter, not a home owner, but moving and traveling across. I have 2 vaccines, husband does not and will not. So, I suppose I could go in to get food or pay for gas. Also, we don't have Canadian money. Gas stations don't accept US debit or credit cards??

i doubt it’ll get better but next spring i’ll be moving up to alaska. not sure what to do with a lot of the stuff i need to bring. perhaps driving it won’t be as bad as i thought. since at the moment shipping costs are just not worth it 😅

You mentioned taking food across the border...I know fresh fruits an vegetables are forbidden. Are there any pre packaged or canned items forbidden? And how about nuts, dried packaged fruits, beef jerky, breads, baked items? Factory sealed vs Zip locked?

Frank that’s the one thing the communist party or Canada is good about. They have much more common sense and more lenient laws on that than we do here in the USA. You actually can bring in fresh fruits, veggies, nuts, meats etc. I think it’s worded something Like it as long as it for consumption. In other words not a truck load. I was told by one of their agents They actually prefer to see you have food coming through because that’s less interactions you will have with Canadians during COVID. I have never crossed that I didn’t have a weeks worth of food with me and they have never had an issue.

@@bigskyblessing thank you sir for that information. I will be crossing at Coutts after my Covid test this Thursday at 10 am, and hopefully results by Saturday. So , I guess, crossing needs to be done by Sunday 10 am (72 hour window)

@@chasenventures1911 that’s correct abs don’t forgot to have the ArriveCan app complete with your test uploaded before you cross. It will make for a smooth transition. In the app it will ask where do you plan to quarantine just choose a hotel in Grand Prairie
