You are opening Neo in a way that I can see how workflow ORDER is critical. I usually have to work that out by myself but know I am just guessing. The other thing I’m seeing is that Neo approaches editing in a way that is much closer to the way I used to do printing in the darkroom, so as you tweaked the white and black points I saw your adjustments through the ‘lens’ of Ansel Adam’s Zone System. Raw develop is like in the Zone System getting the most out of the negative and then switching to the printing stage with the multiple develop modules. Using a single tool to demonstrate the entire editing process is an extremely helpful teaching approach because software suffers from bewildering feature complexity. I’ll definitely be coming back for more - thank you so much.

Great video as always.. One of the benefits of using the Pre-release version of Neo has been to fully understand the tools that are currently available without getting bogged down with understanding layers etc. But looking forward to then meeting that challenge head on when it is full released and looking for your guidance - NO PRESSURE! ("Never work with children or animals"... but I think you got away with it this time!)
@ncc1701BB2 жыл бұрын
This is one of your best. The focus on one tool within NEO is very helpful. Your selective use of the mask was also helpful. I like your explanation of the Curves was also good. I was not a fan of the result of your Curves adjustment. I like the photo before you made that. But the information in your videos are on point and inspirational.

Thanks William. That's absolutely my goal so I'm glad I hit the mark with the info. These edits are always with the intention of a learning tool rather than something for my portfolio and sometimes the end "look" takes a hit as a result.

The multi-instance of tools feature is maybe the most powerful new feature of Neo and yet Skylum themselves hardly mentioned it in their publicity. I really love this aspect of Neo. It's really confusing for traditional AI users but once you get used to it, it's invaluable. Great demo of what can be done.

And the Oscar goes to... Anthony Turnham for being the best luminar teacher in the World 😊 One question. Could the multi-instance edits affect the final quality of the image?. I mean degrade it. Thanks Anthony
@AnthonyTurnham2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jose. My hunch is that potentially it could. I mean any processing of an image will start to degrade it as you push it further and further. I also think that after the initial raw develop the tools are then working on a rasterized version rather than the raw data. Again just a hunch though....

Thanks for yet another really helpful video. I know we don’t have the complete feature set yet but you’ve shown how powerful Neo is and will be for being creative. One frustrating omission for me is the inability to label edits for navigating through the workflow when returning to edit or with high numbers of multiple tool edits. How do you feel about that? The current lack of histogram and onscreen clipping indicators is also a bit frustrating, though I understand they are coming for the now slightly delayed full release. Hope we see you on a Luminar Insiders Coffee Break soon.

Hi mate. It depends on your uses for the program. There'll be a lot of tool cross over / duplication as you would have seen from the menu - BUT, for me, the improved editing engine (for speed) and the re-application of tools multiple times - as shown in this vid, really make a big difference. Personally, yes, 100% it's worth the upgrade. If you only ever do very light edits and just a coupe of tools along the way, maybe Luminar AI is enough for your needs.... Hope that helps 😃

This is compounded by the fact that every demo that I see on KZbin seems to use a different combo of tools. It wasn’t immediately obvious from your video why reapplying he same tool was a benefit - but it looks like you perform a “base” edit on the entire picture and then add additional edits when you need to adjust a particular area? The benefit is that you can easily go back and remove or adjust a particular edit without impacting everything else?

@tamashaasz2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've raised this within their community page and got back a very generic BS answer: "Please note that the ability to save presets will be added in one of the future Luminar Neo updates." IMHO, NEO is not ready for production workflow in its current state, its more like a polished beta version due to they've rushed out the release to keep the extended deadline. Luckily I invested only the 'early bird price' - which is fine - for this toy, but the full price is a bit steep for something not fully production ready. At this stage I can only hope that adding the custom template function won't take long time for them to introduce.

I received a few emails sent by the team and they're currently hiding in bunkers while Kyiv is under attack. Yeah lightroom's a great tool. I've been using it since v1 and will continue to include it in my workflow. TBH I rarely edit on my tablet or phone etc. but I see the draw for a lot of users.
