60 miles is like almost a 2 hour drive maybe 1 hour and 10 minutes. Actually terrifying how fast a 50 MT bomb covers the land. AN602 model (Tzar bomb) That’s really scary in person. I’m so glad they stopped.

The Tzar Bomba was originally 100 megatons. However, knowing that the plane would not outrun it, they SCALED IT DOWN to 50 Megaton. There is a good film called Broken Arrow starring Christian Slater and John Travolta, and Travolta's character steals a nuclear bomb. One of the lines in the film always makes us laugh. There is a troubleshooter sat in a helicopter zipping at top speed to the crisis centre, and he is informed that it's a 'Broken Arrow situation.' He visibly groans then says, 'I don't know what's worse, the fact that we are losing nukes, or that it happens so often we have a name for it.'

They still use planes. They are capable of dropping the bombs from a much higher altitude since the targeting systems are much more advanced and precise now. Also, fighter jets can be used for smaller yield, guided tactical nuclear missiles. But yes, the ICBMs are the main threat right now.

Well we're realistically probably not depending on how old the plane is if it's like yeah if it's like really old playing from like the '40s or like the '30s yeah you might have a chance The shockwave would probably still shred parts of the plane if not the whole plan itself would like to get shredded from the shockwave if it's a modern airliner no you're pretty much screwed if you're over if you're less than 100 mi away if you're less than 100 mi away actually I'm pretty sure you'd probably have to be probably about hundreds of miles away for you know the EMP not to affect the plane's gyro or anything like that
