I viewed my files by date, and that made it MUCH easier to find my projects. You have been a lifesaver!

Images and canvas projects are saved to two different locations. If you created a project and arranged everything the way you wanted before saving it, that image will be in the "Canvas" folder. Images uploaded to or downloaded from Design Space will be in the "Images" folder. You can also find the fonts in the "Fonts" folder. The numbers in the file names are procedurally generated by the database, so they don't correspond to anything useful like the date, but in general the higher the number the newer the file. Since the Details and JSON files don't have the three letter file extension (like .txt or .png) Windows can't search the contents of the files for keywords, which would be useful because the title of the project or image is in those files. You could script a search with a scripting language like PowerShell but it isn't really necessary because there's an easier way to find the images you're looking for. Just go into your Cricut profile folder (C:\Users\[username]\.cricut-design-space\LocalData\[yourprofileID]) and type .png in the search bar. Make sure the view is set to Content so you see a thumbnail of the images, and sort by date modified. If you know what your looking for is a finished canvas project, you can narrow your results by searching in the Canvas folder instead. I hope this helps. Ok so when you get to the step were it shows all the number files listed. Instead of searching through every file to locate the correct one if you know the date you saved it can really help. You simply click date motified (this is the tabs above the dates listed) once u click this you can chose a date and this will narrow down the files to help you locate. I just did this as the file I wanted was from today and boom came right to the top. Hopefully this will help some of you.

yeah, since the time of recording this video I learned to save the project I wanted to use, then go to the C drive to find it and it would be on the top

If you click on the little box down in the right hand corner it will change the look of your files so they have a photo of the file

I would hardly call this a hack. Its copying the image to a png file but its not in a vector format so not sure how useful it really is. Having it in a vector format allows you to resize it which is something that would be very useful

yes you can do that to see the preview without opening it, but you still have to go into each project folder to find the one you want.

Hi, I’m a little confused. I thought you were “exporting” it out of DS, but you went back and opened in DS. Did I miss something?

There is no way to export out of Design Space, so this is a hack or work around to go into the files on your C drive to find the PNG. I just called the video "Can you export from Cricut Design Space?" since that is the topic that people would be searching for

I found that when you try to reupload it onto the canvas it doesn't look nearly as crisp and the lines are wonky. I think this is because it's saving the preview image which is really small/not great quality. Anybody else have this issue?

you are correct, if you upload this design back into Design Space it will be low quality . . . but I have to ask, if you created it in Design Space why do you need to upload the design and bring it back in?

Are you trying to use Save from the png folder or in Design Space?

It hardly seems worth the effort. Design Space is one of the worst designed applications I've ever used. I used to design interfaces. This one is seriously non standard and designed to prevent you from doing what you want to do. I think of it as crippleware...software that has been purposely disabled.

I don't disagree with you! But I see people asking time and time again how to get images out of Design Space . . . and if that is what they want to do, low quality images is the best they will get. But most people will not believe you until you show them . . . hence this video.
