This film is an exploration into the world of competitive Subbuteo. It was filmed at the 2012 Mons Open, in Belgium, and the 2012 Subbuteo World Cup in Manchester.
The film focuses specifically on the idea of Subbuteo as a sport, and the personalities involved in the upper echelons of competition.
I do not own the copyrighted material in this film.

Excellent video. As a former subbuteo player 25 years ago now, I loved the competition, I trained and practiced sometimes 3-4 hours a day to compete at the highest level. I played it as a sport back then and it seems it is still played as a sport today. Makes me want to take it up again. Brings back many happy memories.

Subbuteo is a toy I always wanted, but never had for Christmas. Since 2000 I'm collecting and enjoying some casual games with my teen son. Now my fingers are thick and old, but the joy is the same and when I display the pitch on the table it feels like that Christmas day I never had.

Interesting, funny, great character studies and a neat history of the game. Great to see it making a come back.

Scott, I've watched and rewatch this video a few times now. Great job. Just as a fan of the sport, I'd love to see an update as we now approach 2020 going into World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Cheers mate, hope all is well with you in your neck of the woods!

Great video. Makes me want to get playing again. Having competed in competitive martial arts tournaments, video game tournaments, I can honestly say there is nothing like the tension, and atmosphere, of a competitive subbuteo match.

Mental ! I loved this. At senior school in the early 1970's we had a league, i lost 4 out of 1017 competitive matches.I kept my Subbuteo with 41 teams until a couple of years ago when liver cancer followed by a transplant caused me to go bankrupt and i had to sell my beloved collection. I still remember all my players names captained by Ed Kickerin at Centre back !!!! Guess that makes me sound like an anorak !

Nothing wrong with anoraks ! I had a player called Bobby Sides { because He seemed to be not quite centere on the base ] another called Don lean { because He was leaning Forward } and a French player called Piere Le Strike [ he played up front } Oh and Chelsea Player called Peter Osgood...………………. Cant remember why I called Him that ! lol

Great job Scott, nice to see again familiar faces since I left the UK two years ago. Alan Collins cracks me up, he's still brilliantly enthusiastic as ever. On the subject of sport or game, I'd say it's a bit of both and it an be your pastime if you wish it or more than that if you can manage. It's certainly more active than Chess or Snooker, you swet when you play and jump about. I'd say it's not far off Ping Pong in terms of physical effort so call it what you like, one thing is for sure, it's

great stuff, I like the thing that it’s a mixture of soccer, chess and snooker. For me it’s a game and that’s no problem unless I get that flick in’ finger really fit. As for Mr England - well, England expects dude 😂

I've noticed that the index finger is the finger of choice these days. Back in the day that was considered unorthodox- nearly everyone used their middle finger.

Two things... 1. Don't make me laugh, it's not a sport it's a game. 2. This is a film about table football, not Subbuteo. Having said that its an interesting film.

The video is just brilliant! However, when the players that got filmed here represent the Subbuteo way of life then this is not what I want to have our kids. Drinking and smoking cigars, timidating shouting and voice wrestling is not what I am considering part of Fairplay nor as an ideal role model for young players. I think, Subbuteo has real potential, but only when future tournaments are getting more civilized protagonists!

I think this documentary would have been a LOT better if it would have actually focused on Subbuteo rather than people drama. This documentary was less about Subbueteo and more about drama and that made it boring. I would have liked more focus on the game, it's mechanics, it's history, and the actual tournament instead of just... drama. The documentary spent more time being boring talking about why this person misbehaved or why that person got banned, or why this person intimidates people instead of spending time talking about the actual game. As an American who's really interesting in games, I would have loved to have learned about the game itself and learned more about the tournament itself, and maybe even watched some of the tournament.
