Shane as always a great video: I want to thank you for highlighting one of my modified parts and for the very kind words about me . Why do this modification ? Two reasons...it increases the FPS and it increases the total amount of BB's you can load into the gun to around 65 "without taking the gun apart for loading", you just remove the little rubber stopper, fill it up then replace the stopper . If there are any questions about this mod please ask. This is a simple thing to do and uses easily available products, but it does take some care when assembling the parts . I will try to make a video on how to to it if you guys are interested ? Thanks again Shane, for your very kind words. Terry

The Cherry stocked Restomod used your shot tube at last nights Crazy Range event and was the preferred gun of my best shooter. His comments about how it hit exactly what he aimed it at have convinced me to add some accuracy tests after I get through with the velocity work with the other guns. I reloaded that tube 3 times last night but didn't to a round count as the shoot was ongoing. I did discover that the loading process can be speeded up quite a bit by blocking the barrel opening with a finger and using the squeeze bottle loader I use with the current production Model 25 shot tubes.

@@RestOModDaisy I put the rubber fill plug into the barrel so the BB's don't go into it while I'm filling the tube. I can fill mine very easily and quickly by hand, so if you have a tool for this It should go even faster? Terry

You should, the speed pick up is considerable. The 6mm airsoft barrel I used punches right through my triple strand cardboard backer board, something that does not happen when fired from an airsoft platform. No air bleed from a loading port is a thing.

Any idea where I can find the shot tube for the model 1938. I'm in the process of restoring my late brother's Red Ryder. Your videos have really been helpful btw. Thanks.
@RestOModDaisy2 ай бұрын
The original rattle trap tubes pop up on Ebay from time to time, you can also use one of the current production Model 25 spring loaded shot tubes. The model 25 tube will give you a little more speed and is avalible for around $20 bucks shipped from Mark Ritter's Cobalt 327 ebay store. Good hunting!

@@RestOModDaisy I read somewhere that the Model 40 shot tube would work also. Do you know if it will?
@RestOModDaisy2 ай бұрын
@@anthonyhawk5977 The shot tubes used by the #111 Model 40 and the Model 1938 do interchange as do the shot tubes for most of the pre 1979 small frames like the Model 94, the Model 111 etc. They are all rattle trap designs and are only available as used units.

I'm curious. I just ordered a model 25 shot tube for my 1967 model 99 that I bought when I was 14, and I am wondering if it will make a noticeable difference in the performance of the gun.
@RestOModDaisy3 ай бұрын
You should see a slight increase in the velocity of your Model 99, if you're still running the factory mainspring I'd think you might get an additional 10-15 FPS due to the tighter tolerences and better crown of the current production unit. Did your Model 99 come with the 50 round spring fed shot tube or was it the rattletrap style that could hold 500 BB's? Be advised that more velocity will not lead to more accuracy.
@wallycox45793 ай бұрын
@@RestOModDaisy The original is a 50 round tube. I have to say I have never been unhappy with the performance of the gun, I just thought I would see what the newer tube did.
@RestOModDaisy3 ай бұрын
@@wallycox4579 I think you'll like it once you get it installed and tweak with it a bit. Definately adds power when combined with a mainspring upgrade but will induce some accuracy issues

It's it possible to put a modern model 25 shot tube and abutment in a modern Red Ryder?
@RestOModDaisy Жыл бұрын
It's possible but takes a lot of work. The existing shot tube assembly has to be reoved and a replace abutment washer has to be fabricated and installed. There is quite a lot of info on that process over at the High Road Forum in both the the "putting More power in a $15 dollar Daisy" thread and others. If you're jonesing for a rattletrap Daisy with a removable shot start looking for a pre 1978 Model 1938 Red Ryder or the Model 94 or a Model 111. No mods needed just drop in the Model 25 shot tube and start shootin'!

@RestOModDaisy Жыл бұрын
@@WalnutandSteel I'm pretty sure that'll need the large seals given the vintage. The bad news is that Daisy quit offering the abutment seal long ago and I'm not sure if the compression cup is still a separate item on the parts list. I haven't placed an order with them since the new year. Check with Mark over at Cobalt 327 on the 'Bay and see if he's got some.
