I was just about to be on my way to Home Depot to get a couple things to make a spring compressor outta the steel rods. I am so glad you posted this today - turns out I have everything to make the one shown here at home. Excited to get the cobalt spring and 7/64 air tube installed. Love plinking with a RR! Thanks to your channel for making me realize there were upgrades to the Red Ryder! Have a good one Shane, thanks a lot for your information.

Thank you thank you thank you for that information that helps me out a lot. I am reliving my youth with better tools. And modified BB guns and modified pellet rifles. It’s fun because it saves my centerfire ammunition for other things that I’m going to need it for.

Bless you, videographer! Neat little tool you made, Shane! Love the pistol grip. Something about it just clicks. Taking a gun apart with another gun is so apropos. I think I may still give a go to the plunger casing tool I envisioned. I'll cut the casing just where the legs begin or end... then bend them to fit around the crimps. Very similar to your design with the pistol grip, only utilizing an actual Daisy part to effect the decompression. I'll mount it to something, maybe a broomstick. I'm glad you like the tool. I found the conduit in the trash. I'm not too proud to scrounge! Keep modding and keep putting out these great videos.

@@RestOModDaisy Yes... I saw that. It left me wondering which harbor was holding the freight. It ain't a Californian harbor. Last I heard our illustrious governor, RonDi, told them to bring it on down and over to snowbirdville. There's no shortage of cheap goods at the local sprawlmart! I will give my idea one day, after crafting, to prove it's mettle. Then it moves to the round file. If ya know what I mean. I might reread Dune. Hi Shane I make the spring compressor out of the 1/2 steel strap it works pretty good I had to do a little grinding on it to get it to slide past the the end of the plunger before I could hit the spring I still got to grind it down a little bit more but it does work very well. Thank you my friend

George, I have trimming and profiling my pistol gripped compressor trying to tweak it so it'll work better on the 90 degree twin post plunger assemblies. I've put a smallish bend on the tips so they'll engage the mainspring and discovered that giving the back plate studs a few love taps to reduce thier height is quite helpful.

Wow! That’s amazing I had to make a tool out of two screwdrivers that I cut the tips off of. It’s sketchy but it seem to work. I use that to install this new high powered spring that I found. You know Ebay. And it works amazingly well. Yes the BB gun is not for small children now. As it hits very hard like a 177 pellet rifle.
@RestOModDaisy
@RestOModDaisy 3 жыл бұрын
I never thought about using screwdrivers in tandem. How did you hook that up? The conduit tool is a bit easier to make and works really well with the current production guns. Have fun!
@eddiejennejr4342
@eddiejennejr4342 3 жыл бұрын
Well I saw your two prong tool and I figured I could cut the tips off of two small really long Phillips number one screwdrivers for Harbor freight and I used my little die grinder to concave the end instead of leaving it flat. And it held OK when it held and I was able to install the increased power spraying for the current production red Ryder BB gun’s. And wow do they work Wonderful with that new spring.

One added feature that sometimes comes in handy on one of these spring compressors is a shield to protect your pushing hand when the tool slips off of the spring. When that happens, you sometimes get a hand full of sharp receiver parts jammed into your pushing hand fingers and it hurts. It should look kinda like the hand end of Zorro's sword.

I’ve also looked up the year on the gun but not sure . Any help would be appreciated sir . Thank you Del

Del, Congrats onj recovering your leagacy Daisy. Sears contracted with Daisy to build some of thier "store" brands. If your Sears "Bear" gun has a stenciled Bear on both sides of the reciever and does not have a magazine tube under the barrel then it's most likley a Daisy built in Rodgers AR post 1958. All of your internal parts are readily available from several different sources, NOS replacment parts like stocks are hard to come by in good condition. Does it shoot? Your reg # indicates a build date of September of 1977.

Hello I hope you're having a great day 🙂 I don't know but I think the secret to more velocity in the daisy is the compression chamber losing some pressure whether it be the the abutment seal or the new Daisy when it's seal assembly and tube coming apart somewhere there in the compression or even the chamber itself being metal put together must be losing some pressure or gaining some with some rubberized sealant in both new or old seals in the back part towards the seals have you ever tried it to see if it actually works to bring up FPS performance not by changing the spring tension with a higher spring but just improving the chamber of compression Thank you very much for your hard work in making the videos Have a great day good health to you and your family🙂

Bill, I think you're right and have recently been in communication with another Daisy enthusiast that installs a brass liner in the compression chamber to preclude any compression losses there along with machined compression cups with O ring seals. Hopefully that'll be productive and user installable.

I've had nice results super cleaning (acetone and alcohol) then heating the body to 250 degrees for properly applying FrogLube to the cylinder walls and shot tube, about 175 degrees for the spring+plunger parts, the 3 I've treated all gained about 10-11% fps doing nothing else. the stuff also prevents rust, might be great for sealing+shining a fire blued gun's exterior, might take 2 drops worth total (its a paste) because it spreads so far on warmed metal... to do the whole body inside and out maybe 3 drops worth at most. its intended use is real firearms to make sliding parts super smooth slippery. same idea, its just using it for the compression cylinder the seal rides against, and reducing friction down the shot tube.

Someone gave me a 1105 that had been sitting in there shed and then in the corner if my garage, It was pretty rusty so I hit it with PB Blaster and sure enough it fired. Then I saw your videos and made a spring compressor out of 2 rods it worked great. I cleaned it up inside and put it back together and oiled it thru the oil port on the barrel with either RWS spring cylinder oil or Air chamber lube. Was it OK to use either of these?

Certainly. The receiver for the 1938ARR is exactly the same as the Model 1938B as well as the Model 105B and the Daisy Model 10 as well as the Model 1999. The 1938ARR's claim to fame is a slightly longer butt stock.

Whilst theres old stuff about in imperial/US sizing it's harder to come by with most stores only carrying Metric sizing of conduit. I'll email again later incase it got sent to junk with my username here as the subject, with any luck I'll hopefully have the upgrade of my Daisy done by Halloween.

Ok, I've watched the video multiple times. I have read the description several times as well. I want to know how you got 3/4" pvc electrical conduit to fit??? I used what I had on hand, 1/2" plumbing pvc. 12" chunk, I made the "fingers" 2 1/4" long, a little precession filing and it's done, and works well. Somebody mismeasured or didn't read what it says on the pvc. Just so everybody is on the same page, pvc, electrical or plumbing, is measured by it's inside dimension, Not the outside dimension. Kind of an important detail. Not trolling, just sayin ...

@@RestOModDaisy MTB=mountain bike, but your acronym is better! No disrespect intended big guy, just trying to keep up, lol. As a construction tradesman all my life, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, concrete, surveying, etc., I have all kinds of left over bits and pieces. Other hobbies can overlap with materials, tools and such as well. So, fabrication is fairly easy for me. I do have to say, electrical pvc is probably superior to plumbing pvc, in this application. Plumbing pvc has no ultraviolet blockers, so, it will get brittle if/when exposed to sunlight. That being said, and for the sake of argument, I made mine from plumbing pvc, 1/2". Schedule 40, same goes for electrical pvc. Schedule 80 has thicker walls, same id, larger od. Replaced original spring & air tube, in a new buck 105, with a 7/64 air tube & 499 spring from Mark, (cobalt327), for my neighbor's kids. My tool worked surprisingly well, and the kids loved the results. Got another buck 105 on the bench now. Waiting on Mark's package deal, hp spring/metal handle/7/64 tube, for install. So, the pvc compression tool you show and use in your video, is a greatly appreciated concept.
