I bought this exact kit and get ~35 Mbps download and ~40 Mbps upload speeds. It's not bad, considering I get 100 Mbps down and 45 Mbps up when standing right next to the router. For me, this kit is a "Goldilocks just right": Probably better performance than a wifi repeater at only slightly greater price, and far less expensive than a mesh system with only a reasonable decrease in performance. I'm happy with it!

Just use the 5ghz repeater, change the mode to the maximum then the DTIM interval to 5 or 15 and rts threshold to 100 or 50

I have just moved house. Nice place, for my reach at least. As you do, I've unearthed this exact thing and found use for it in the 1st time since buying it, years ago. It's just enough to keep Yt ticking over at 720p and I'm about 10 feet away 😂 Time to find a modern replacement

I bought the TP-Link AV1000 version of this kit back in 2018. It's worked great. Router is at one end of the house, my home office is at the opposite end, working from home I rely on this all the time. There was one hiccup in that two years I've used it, could not get to the internet on the WiFi end. Had to unplug both for a moment, then plug them both in, problem fixed. You do have to reboot both together, not reboot one, then reboot the other. When I first moved in here I literally had a 100ft cat5 cable on the floor across the house. While it worked great, there was a major problem: wife. I had to have the cable picked up before she got home. There is no attic to hide the cable in. I mounted the cable along the ceiling and through walls above doors. That was an improvement. First monsoon storm, fried a network switch and a PC motherboard network port. That long of a cable can pick up induced voltage from overhead lightning during storms. I replaced fried parts, and just a few weeks later another storm fried more ports. So I setup a WiFi bridge, that had disconnect problems multiple times per week. The problems mostly did not last very long, but when you're working from home on a conference call an the VoIP phone cuts out for a few minutes, it's not so good. So I bought the TP-Link AV1000 kit. This is a good alternative for a reliable connection that's better than WiFi. On network speed, our ISP only provides 15Mbps here, so as long as the connection is reliable, speed isn't much of an issue for me. I do occasionally transfer files from the wife's computer at the router end of the house from my office server side of the house, and the AV1000 does manage around 150-250Mbps transfer speeds. While that's well below the advertised 1000Mbps; given the problems with the alternatives I tried, this is a great deal.

I just bought a TP-Link today and the WiFi speed is so much better than it has ever been. The thing is that it fades once you start to get to the other side of the house. There are only 2 or 3 walls in the way from here to the laptop. My internet speed is 100 megabits. I am wondering if I would see a drop if using this powerline adapter. I am assuming that as long as I get a fast enough adapter I would not not expect to notice much if any drop. I think what it is you would just not expect the full speed of the adapter itself. All that I am looking for is that I get most of my 100 megabit speed in another room. I have considered a MoCA connection but I am just not sure if it would interfere with the TV or the cable internet which is a DOCSIS 3.0 connection. I don't want to connect incompatible hardware the system and cause a problem. In a couple of the rooms we have digital transport adapters to at least get some channels without having to use an antenna. I am not referring to the awful free over the air digital TV that literally goes out of there is a fly in the room or birds over the house. If you ever had that kind of OTA digital TV you know how bad it truly sucks. I know some people who think it is the best but they grew up changing channels with a pair of pliers to turn the knobs on the TVs and don't know what is really the best.

so for further distance connect on the 2.4GHz WiFi network instead of the 5Ghz. 5GHz is faster but less efficient over distances and walls etc. Ideally, a Mesh Network is what you want, but they are pricey. Here is one example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2jHdH2Jfb2iaqs

I have the original ps4 that only has wifi over the 2.4ghz which might have been congested since im in an apartment building. With this device/similar concept device my ps4 was able to maintain a reliable connection which has shown in every game. I have the lowest internet speed 50/mps without the device my speed is 12-15/mps with it im able to maintain 35+. For the 35 bucks it was worth the purchase. Now just to hope it can last for more than 3 yrs.

I would not bother with ethernet over power because it can jump your gpo and provide network clash where and when you living in a tenet building with more than 1 apartment or in some cases units and typically needs to be located on the same circuit... these do have very limited use case scenario.. typical point of contact are stb/stu from your pay tv provider i wouldn't rely on it if you are running routers connected to switches/other routers because the data usage .. you are better off to install cat-6a or fiber optics between switches or routers
@LironSegev
@LironSegev 5 жыл бұрын
you are 100% correct - big problem is that for most people its not possible to simply install cat6a (costs/ not the property owner/ wife will kill me haha). They need to stop making these claims of simply plugging a device in and it will solve your problems - its misleading! Appreciate you being here and leaving a great comment - hope you are around for more of these tests as would love your input!

@@LironSegev sadly i wish it was noted in the lit supplied with device .. I have no doubt they work I ran a adhoc network with them though do become a liability in cable management and might become a liability as a tripping hazard.. however I don't recommend them on a permanent use scenario because get a power surge you might just fry everything connected inline with the multiple power points you use .. to be honest you likely add value to your home if you have structured cabling myself I own multiple devices that require a wired or wireless connection from a wireless standpoint unless you are going to live with an open door/window policy you likely be blocking signal through scenario called the faraday cage.. whilst I perchase to partake in the wifi variation of this type of hardware I typically wouldn't recommend havign multiple wireless transceivers floating so close together as th will cause wifi interference no matter the freq you transmit on.. as for the straight EOP option yes they work though i wouldn't showve to much traffic to them be of the ver heating issues and roach attraction issues they all have no matter which brand you purchase to use.. by the way is the main unit has an ip address you are better to set that through their as for what you pressed more likely set the 2 unit to wps mode which means you are no better off with the like wep encryption as this how ad -hock wifi is setup at this moment the only true way to apply wifi to the whole home is via ubiquiti and a poe router.. this option like its counterpart is good for ad-hoc use until such time however like the EOP counterpart they are a security hazard and should be avoided if you live town houses or places where your meter box is centrally located as these will jump the gpo in your meter box...

encryption is fastest way by using additive data by storing and sending only 1 byte of data, one byte of time line, and the value of amplitude at point if time then send it and the receiver subtract the time amplitude by (total value of time mulitplied by the runlenght value) and the runlenght value can be obtained by the unit of time resolution in the song time tan of sound phase angle) which is by cos ∆ = 1.49/( frequency * 4 pi )(√(z^2 )-(c-^2))....you get the idea all we need is perform additive, and set up a paritilty verification bit then send and the receiver expand it into wave data and put in player buffer zone

9:27 Hahahahaha! Indeed, these powerline adapters are all a bust. I bought the TP-Link AV1000 (they advertise 1.0Gps in the box!) and I think I got lucky getting 100Mbps even... If I take the same ethernet cables, using the same ethernet card from my computer directly to my ISP router it goes to almost the contracted speed I have from my ISP which is 1Gbps/200 with no problems. So yeah 100Mbps from an advertised 1.0Gbps powerline adapter is lucky!
