My fourth or fifth game playing I decided to play France for the first time, I spent ever playthrough playing a new nation till I had tried them all, and the Germans just kinda derpped out. the entirety of the German army on the western front just left their troops in pockets that didn't more or try to defend them selves in the slightest. by early to mid 1940 I as France my first time was in berlin and the Germans soon after capitulated. rest of the axis managed to hold out till late 1943.

Since NSB, I always go through the maginot and not around. I just take my 10 tank divisions with Manstein who has Fortressbuster as FM and a grinded Rommel as general and lots of CAS and beat the f out of the maginot

Dave it's been proven that armored trains are well worth it atleast as germany in single player since the allies are inevitably going to be launching unrelelnting suicicide sorties of thousands upon thousands of tacs and cas to level german industry and supply lines. Armored trains take almost no attrition even while being molested from the air

It's only worth it if you're going to play a really complicated campaign, like playing on max difficulty, since then they'll actually bomb you with thousands of planes, but if it's a regular SP game there's no point, as they won't be able to fight your fighters and you will destroy the enemy bombers

Heavy Tanks actually get a bonus to attacking forts, as do Heavy Tank Flame Companies, on top of the bonuses from Engineers, fortress buster, and the like

Haven't watched the full video but is ironic, one of my first few times playing as Germany, I was new in the game and I sucked at managing my army so I had all my army in Poland and thought I could cap them before the French cap me To make it short, yes, that's how it happened, they didn't get to Berlin, and I trucked my way around the AI troops and drove through the maginot without having to fight in it lmao

@@alicorn3924 You are correct, I saw a few videos of gameplay before I decided to buy it, but for the mechanics and such I learnt them from watching videos, asking in YT comments and trial and error Like literally one of my dumbest moments when I first started playing is that I wanted to remove a general from my army and I ended up disbanding all the german divisions lmao I literally played like 200 hours before I tried ironman

Railway guns in HOI4: epresent heavy and siege artillery. Siege artillery ability: also represent heavy and siege artillery. By using both you basically do what, shoot out a gun out of another gun to shoot it at bunkers while it's airborne?(flashbacks of Lost Planet 2 madness) Or do you make all your 230+mm guns double barrel? P.S.: Dora/Gustav and several other projects like Karl mortar WERE designed to breach Maginot. They were just late and french/belgian/dutch governments turned out to be pushovers. But here you rush these guns years earlier...

I've done similar on earlier patches by just bombing the forts down a few levels, then focusing on 3v1 (attacking from multiple directions lowers fort penalty). Stacking all of this just makes it stupid, lol.

I noticed as how fort's damage reduction was reduced to 10.7%, "river crossing" lowered it a 56,6%, wich is a lot

When I was trying to do a weirdly diplomatic german game in sp (don’t attack neutral countries, just keep it to the allies) in which i couldn’t go around the maginot, using manstein with tac bombers worked surprisingly well, if not a little more costly. Also, the diplomatic germany isn’t awful, I should say. It keeps world tension relatively low, makes the allies a considerably smaller faction, and you can even turn some of them into your allies. You might not think the allies not having the netherlands, belgium, Luxembourg, denmark, norway, yugoslavia, turkey and greece would be all that important, but when they’re all put together that’s a considerable loss for the allies, not to mention in the event of a successful d-day, you are much more defended as the maginot is still relevant.

hey feedback, i have found a tank that can break the magino without air, the only thing you need is the tank template, 4 of those tanks and you will need to grind panzer leader in spain with meinstein, why meinstein? because he has fort buster, so +15% fort attack. (the tank is a heavy tank, and with my build i could make 7-8 of them before danzig or war, they have A LOT of armor and even more breakthrough with 400-500 soft attack and 500 hard attack WHILE ATTACKING INTO THE LVL 10 FORTS)

Thankfully, most lobbies ban early wars. They always end up ruining the game for the U.S., Russia, and most minors, since the game's basically decided years before it's supposed to kick off. It would be insanely funny to see a MP Germany in 39 do this to the Maginot, though. No France would expect Germany to go through there. Usually they're focusing hard on keeping the lowland border area safe. A Germany that big dicks his way through the Maginot without ever going through the lowlands would be beyond hilarious to watch. Allies morale would be shattered watching that.

Not the main topics of the video of course, but you went very fast on how your invasion of the UK works. You attack quite brutally, directly through the channel, while the UK already has a strong fleet at the start of the game. I managed to break through the line before NSB. Enough CAS and an immediate justification without getting Rhineland militarized, and the right strat, you won't even need to worry about the forts and entrenchment once you get them on the backfoot. Just don't attack from the river and you're golden.

Oh, and my abysmal navy managed to level theirs too, and i don't game with exploits... so it was all regular game mechanics. The war is over before '37 and then you can leisurely deal with Europe at your own pace.
