Bought a giant tcx 105 almost a decade ago for just under 1k. What’s changed? Ok tiagra is now pretty decent and it has thru-axles none of this accounts for that price

Still does. There are more people people starting to cycle, so they put more money on the cheaper bikes because certain people will never ride less than ultegra. Which is cheaper atm

@@davidf.4886 I own a Cube Nuroad with Tiagra (2019) and it was a pretty good value for the money. The recent Nuroad Pro has mix of Tiagra (STIs) and GRX (derailleur) and costs 1099 Euro. Canyon has the Grizl and Grail starting at 1.499 Euro with GRX. I would go for a GRX and not a road groupset like Sora, Claris or Tiagra for Gravel because of the missing clutch in the derailleur. Cube and Canyon are the cheapest that come to my mind. Specialized Diverge starts at 1,8k, Rose Backroad starts at 2k, Trek Checkpoint at 2,7k, Cannondale Topstone at 2.5 or so. Depending on where you are there might be other brands I can’t comment on (GB has some brands like Vitus that are not available in Germany for exemple).

@@SrFederico thank you a lot! I have checked all the bikes you mentioned. It's almost impossible to buy a Canyon bike here. :/ Sold out Cube would be possible on ca Juni/July 2023. The Rose looks great, but it's over my budget. I was looking at these three bikes as well: Rondo ruut Al 2 (I could buy this one for 1199,-€) Canondale topstone 4 ( ca. 1000,-€) Orbea Terra 1600 - 2000 € But the free market looks terrible for now. I'm also considering just to wait for 2024, when the market with the gravel bikes gets cooler.

There are so many good used bikes that people want to get rid of that if you don’t have to have the latest and shiniest new thing, you can pick up an incredible bargain if you are willing to do a bit of looking and waiting. As an example, I have at my co-op a very clean full carbon Specialized with mechanical Ultegra for about the same price.

I guessed 500-800€. Tires looked cheap, Aluminum frame looks heavy and not well made. Wheels look very cheap. So 1250€ is probably still a bad price.

if you’re looking for the best budget or value bike £1250 isn’t it. Ali frame isn’t a big issue for 99.9% of people neither is Claris as a group set mechanical discs also have benefits as most people could adjust them at home with ease So yes and to be more accurate I was talking about the Limba as it’s cheaper than there other models.

You noted that it’s costs half that of the bike reviewed in the video which shouldn’t come as a shock……because it’s components cost half the price as those on the bike reviewed. People will always highlight a cheaper bike but the reality is it’s cheaper because it has lesser components.

Consumers only have their self to blame for the increase in prices. If you didn't keep buying the newest product when it comes out they wouldn't keep releasing a "new" product and putting the prices up. More demand = higher prices

For someone who is a hobbyist and rides bikes on hard dirt/gravel roads commonly for sport - yeah this would be a bargain. But to most commonfolk, we wouldn't stretch past $400. Truthfully you could find a good, basic commuter bike secondhand for less than $100 and it will serve you well if you maintain it or even keep it partially updated. Most people just need a bike to get back and forth to work on smooth sidewalks or asphalt. This is why I hate bike snobs. They don't really understand the common commuter bike and why people adore what could be considered a "Costco" bike for daily use.

How is this remotely a bargain? That price is directly comparable with like the Trek FX 3 or Specialized Sirrus X 4.0, but those are both nicer bikes imo. The Sirrus even gets a carbon fork! You could also throw the base model Allez into the mix.
