Can You Ignore Your Boss Outside Of Work Hours?

RIGHT TO DISCONNECT
From today, millions of Aussies have the right to ignore calls and emails from their boss outside of work hours. For a lot of Aussies, clocking off for the day doesn't always mean you're done for the day. You see, thanks to the rise of smartphones and the pandemic, the line between work life and home life has been getting pretty blurred. The new laws are all about setting up boundaries, making sure that workers can, within reason, refuse contact from the office, outside of work hours, without getting into trouble. But is it actually going to make a difference?
NT ELECTION
The Northern Territory has a new leader! After 8 years in opposition, the Country Liberal Party will now be in government after a landslide victory against the Labor Party. Former lawyer, Lia Finocchiaro, will be the new chief minister, and she says community safety is a top priority.
ASTRONAUTS
Remember the two NASA astronauts who were stuck in space? Yeah, well, they're still up there, and they're gonna be there for a while still. Yesterday, NASA made the call to leave them on the ISS until February next year when a SpaceX Crew dragon spacecraft can go get them. It said their current Boeing Starliner capsule was too risky to use after suffering a series of glitches when they first went up there back in June.
AFL FINALS
The AFL's top 8 teams have been locked in for this year's finals series! It'll all kick off in a couple of weeks with Port Adelaide, who finished second on the ladder, hosting third placed Geelong in their qualifying final, and a Sydney showdown with the top placed Swans taking on fourth placed GWS in their qualifying final. Meanwhile it'll be Brisbane v Carlton and Western Bulldogs v Hawthorn in do or die elimination finals. But it's not just finals everyone's talking about, with a big investigation launched over this water bottle incident at the Carlton/St Kilda match on the weekend.
DUTCH GRAND PRIX
Now lets shift gears, cause we are heading to the Dutch Grand Prix. Where this guy has won for the second time this year. It was a rough set up for Norris after a quick start from Max Verstappen. But a strong 18th lap saw him overtake Verstappen to take out the title.
PARALYMPIC TORCH RELAY
And finally, the Paralympic torch relay has begun! The torch was lit in a village called Stoke Mandeville in England, which is were the Paralympics first started, and will travel to France under the English Channel in a four-day relay.
REDHEAD FESTIVAL
First up, to the Netherlands. Where thousands of red-headed people have gathered for a special festival, celebrating their fiery locks. Redheads are pretty rare, making up only about 1 to 2 per cent of the world's population.
CORGI RACE
Now to Lithuania, where the third annual corgi race has hit the ground running. More than a hundred corgis from all over Europe have come to take part. And those that aren't racing have dressed up for the fashion contest!
BALLOON POP
And finally to the US. Where thousands of balloons were dropped from the ceiling at the end of the Democratic National Convention. But what happens to all those balloons after? Yeah. Spare a thought for the folks whose job it is to pop and clean up every single one. Oh my back hurts just looking at this.
