I would like to know more about your quarantine process. And your rack set up too. Hope your healing up.

Thank you Anh for talking about this. The splendens complex of wild bettas definitely are beautiful but better kept separately until it's time to breed. But like you said, there can be exceptions! I know someone who kept a tank of imbellis and they all remained relatively peaceful even when breeding. But it's never a guarantee so I thi k it's important to make it clear to people that it's often an exception to keep splendens pairs in the same tank, not the rule

As wild betta species become more popular in the hobby it's been really interesting (and valuable) to see how knowledge develops! I definitely remember betta imbellis groups being proposed about 5-10 years ago as a safe alternative to domestic betta "sororities." I have had a betta rubra pair for almost a year now, and they have been great! It's amazing to watch them display at each other without worrying about their safety.

Glad your healing fast Anh! I'm loving your videos! I also recently got a little female hendra from you for my male and my males temper is very peaceful even when it comes to her and I'm greatful for his whole personality haha, and she is just a curious cute little baby girl lol. He will flare at her and she will flare back and they actually play! I just love them so much. She's not as shy as she was at first and is now exploring the whole tank! They're fishmates are galaxy rasboras and a shrimp colony. Hoping for a little hendra family one of these days 😊 Love you guys at blackwater! Your amazing ❤

you could make a video about dither fish for bettas, or even less common cohabitations for a betta tank

Also, can ABSOLUTELY get behind the mouthbrooders as a recommendation. I have a pair of albinmarginata from you that settled in so well (in a 6 gallon cube. So for those who have a 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 gallon, the mouth brooders are awesome choices) that a month later they spawned, then 5 days after dad released his babies they spawned AGAIN. Mouthbrooder supremacy

You can keep multiple betta together. If you have aggressive and or active males, remove them from the enclosure. I have 4 separate spawns in 1 aquarium. When you remove your problem males your colony becomes peaceful. Aggressive males tend to calm down after their first successful spawn. I really like watching your content.

@calebwatson3023 as a seller and breeder I can not reccomend keeping them together because it's impossible for me to predict their behavior. But you are right that you can keep them together if you know what to look for.

I breed the opposite, I use a young male paired to old female, from my experience this give a better male over female ratio, when using old males to young females I get big spawns, but they are really female dominate.

@BlackwaterAquatics is Betta Smaragdina Guitar and Betta Splendid the same fish? I am a newbie

@Inspire_A_Rich_Mindset betta splendens refer to either the complex (a group of closely related species) and also the species "betta splendens". People use both interchangeably so it can be confusing.
