One tip I'd offer here is even if you have the antidote or resources to make the antidote don't take it right away if you have high enough health. Whilst poisoned you are effectively immune to being poisoned again. So spend the time looking for clay or looting without being worried about lionfish and snakes if you have it maybe even take a shark repellent at this point then you have near no worries about anything in the game and can loot and mine in water without any danger.

I’m new to this game. I’ve only been surviving for 7 days (my longest survival after restarting 3 times), but I had no idea that you could add to the camp fire or make water with the palm fronds. I was making new camp fires and waiting for the rain to fill the water stills. 😅

For new players - you can use fibrous leaves for the water still as well - much easier than palm fronds :) Thanks for the video - great to know!

fibrous leaves are like most needed resourse for everything. Why would you use it for that?

@@juhis8185 Because the leaves respawn and the palms do not. Example: cut all leaves on home base island, feed the stills you have, perhaps even the fire. Go out exploring and when you come back, they've all regrown and your stills are full of water. I still have all the palms and their coconuts on my home island. Just not needed :) I am on a minimal damage play through, so I cut only one palm on a new island to build an outpost - shelter, still and fire with spit. The rest of the resources goes back home. Also remember that you can plant Yukka in farm plot - as long as it has water, it will give you leaves on top of what is growing on your island. If you have any other questions, fire away :) Ps. Just to clarify, both Yukka and the little palm plants both give fibrous leaves and they both do respawn.

It will take forever to get anything built if you use fibrous leaves for stills. Once you got everything growing then ofc because you couldnt have enough palm founds

@@juhis8185 Yes, good point. Usually the first island is strip mined for absolutely everything. For some reason I did not know about the leaves' use in stills and fire, so I had to put it out there to prevent some pain!

I cut all the trees on other islands and bring the logs home in crates. I also bring the palm bunches. You can fit 4 bunches per slot, and in a crate you basically get 60 fronds in a crate. Or you can take 12 fronds. I also take all small palms and yucca/fruit from other islands. Plant the yucca and you have almost unlimited fibrous leaves.

Awesome videos! I wanted to add that tip for pilling meat on the fire to cook it is awesome, to further that tip, meat just needs to be close enough to the fire to hear the sizzle, it doesnt have to be right on it. I have found meat on the ground near the fire will cook also. Just drag the meat to the fire until you hear the sizzle, that is the cooking radius.

I survived being poisoned twice, both times I survived purely by accident, as in I just kept playing, eating, drinking, keeping my food & water levels up, etc. and after several days I realized I was no longer poisoned. The second time I got poisoned I knew the Pipi plant could create an antidote but there was only one on my island, and after harvesting it once, then waiting almost a week, it still had not grown a second flower. And by then I'd survived the poison anyway! :D

Just a little side note on sleeping as soon as possible. If you have lanterns they will let you know when you can sleep by turning on. I think the light on the watch will do the same. I don't wait for it to get totally dark, I just click on the sleeping bag as soon as the light comes on. (I am on the ps4, don't know if it is different elsewhere)

Go to bed asap, wake up at 5am, have breakfast, water the plants and swim a lap around the island (working on maxing out physical for the boss fights) before going to work (building, hunting, gathering, or whatever project I am working on at the time). Stranded in the middle of the ocean and still cannot escape the daily grind. lol

As bad as it gets. I didn’t lower my anchor, and my raft drifted off into the sunset. I had one pipi plant so I couldn’t craft the antidote. SO I had to craft a new raft. During this time, I kept rest, food and hydration high, and completely by accident, my poisoning went away. I wasn’t sure how or what I did, but this puts it into perspective. So I did everything in this video, without even knowing you can beat poisoning 😅

Ok, so what if you get poisoned on the last day...will it reset it?

The counter starts at the time you get poisoned. If you save and log out BEFORE the poisoning status effect has gone away, you will reset the poison timer. Its probably a bug in the game but until its fixed you have to be careful. PLUS you cant be poisoned WHILE the poison status effect is already active, but you can take damage to health. So for example: when you got poisoned you had just enough health to survive the status effect, you know you cant be poisoned while your already poisoned so you go fishing. While fishing you get bit by a water snake, no you cant be poisoned again while your already poisoned. You can take damage from the bite itself, which reduces the amount of health you already have. So in The end you might not have enough health left to survive the poison status effect.

"If you save while poisoned and come back, it resets the timer" Dude, you should have led with that so hard, it should have been the title. That glitch isn't fixed TODAY, at least on Switch. I lasted four days poisoned. To critique (and maybe this has more to do with current patches, I don't know, I don't think so) the key has more to do with making sure those food and water levels stay higher than two bars missing, and making damn sure you don't take any other damage. I wasn't nearly this particular and I lasted 4.5 days. I seem to recall being able to pull this off in my early days with no real instruction. That save glitch killed me DEAD, had to delete the whole save.

Waluvuva I think is a placeholder to keep pipi from growing on plants. Also you can carry more palm fronds if you take the whole bunch. You can carry 4 fronds per slot, or 4 bunches per slot (20 fronds)

That's a good video and tutorial but I found it because I just survived poisonous so I was looking to see if others had. And I survived it without any of that fuss and attention to detail that you talk about there my situation was I was on an island completely undeveloped I don't even know what island I'm on I'm a little bit lost and it had no tent no fire no peepee etc. My food and water were down I stayed without water at zero water for probably six eight hours of one of my days I think it was it was a pretty good stretch and I did have some smoked boar from a previous Island so I would eat that once in a while but I did not keep everything maxed and yet in 3 days I survived the poison just from keeping my head a little bit above zero.

Yeah you’ll loose about 3 1/2 bars of health on normal. On hard mode it’ll hit faster and harder this method will not work on hard mode.

Just started playing this after having it downloaded when free. This is great video. But I have learned that frequent saving means if poisoned, just restart at save before and carry on. Why use up all those resources over 3 days fighting the poison? But good to know if have done something significant and didn’t save before poison.

You could reload absolutely! I just feel like Reloading your game when you get an unfavorable outcome kinda takes the survival aspect out of the game

But isn't that what "hard" mode is for - permadeath with no respawn? for newbies, the ability to come back makes the game less daunting. and allows one to learn the ins and outs of how to succeed. Heck, if poisoned, one can just die and come back at last save point, obviously something the developers intentionally did. Your info is fantastic and very insightful. It is truly really useful. I was just questioning - other than permadeath mode - the economy of your insight. All the best and keep up the great vids!
