@@jasonjcr_cars819 First two seasons the Ferrari was a replica based off a Corvette chassis and of course Ferrari wasn't happy about that. But it wasn't a Testarossa. So around the 3rd season they blew up the replicas and Ferrari provided the white Testarossa. They even have their name in the credits.

Thanks a lot for your honest video and not trying to excessively romanticize the ownership of the Testarossa. Buying one is one thing, being able to afford servicing it is another. Your channel is just perfect for me as I am contemplating buying my first Ferrari, either an early 308 or a Testarossa. Maybe the 328 in-between could be a good solution, although I prefer the fascia of the 308 over the 328 and the wizzing sound of carburettors over the silence of fuel-injection. Your videos give me content to think about all this ! Please continue to release new videos on your cars !

@@francoislopin6372 I really appreciate that Francois! I was personally looking for this kind of content when I started down the path to get my first so I’m trying to help those in the same boat! You won’t go wrong with the 308 as a first car. Like the 328 it’s an easy one to live with that won’t leave you scratching your head why you did this in the first place! I totally understand the wish to keep it very analog. I wouldn’t underestimate the 328 and its sound even as fuel injected. Best thing you can do is get out and test when you find a good one to really know what you’ll be happiest with!

Thanks for the great & honest content/information for any future prospective buyer such as myself. The Testarossa has never left my "Top 5" since I was a child. I've almost pulled the trigger a few times over the past 20 years (was put off by the exorbitant belt changes) but ended up purchasing ascending generation 911 Turbos instead, and now I'm in a 17 Maserati Granturismo. If you ever have the opportunity to at least drive one, I highly suggest you do so. The sound from the Ferrari/Maserati F136 4.7 liter is absolutely fantastic, matching It's Pininfarina design and comfort level IMHO. ✌️

@jasonjcr_cars819 Hello from across the pond in Pennsylvania, U.S. Unfortunately, not. Aside from the belt service, my other (and actual main issue) was that I didn't fit in it very comfortably, as I'm a "Husky" guy with size 12 feet. That tiny and offset pedal box in all of the classic mid engined Ferraris is a really tight fit for me. As for the "fun factor" aspect, I highly suggest you try either a 996/997 Turbo that's had some go-fast modifications done. I put about $15k into mine (522hp & 557 ftlb of torque), and that "ff" turned into borderline Fear Factor. But definitely in all of the right ways. They really are unbelievable cars! Take care ✌️

@@normsallitt2753 you’re not far away from my old home! Your decision makes sense. The car isn’t the most spacious and even my mechanic has a difficult time road testing too (recently) with his size 12 shoes too! Totally get it. I had air cooled Porsches prior to being able to afford the first Ferrari and I highly rate them.. I’m personally not after massive HP as much as the ideal driving road / experience combined with classics. Enjoyed to watch your very honest review and glad you enjoy your car so i subscribed. However the recurring feedback of people that test review the series 1 Testarossa is that the weight of the v12 in the back above the gearbox is really felt on the road; the same comment was made of the more modern FF with v12 engine at the front. Despite supreme efforts in masking that weight then and in the more modern FF, that weight makes it more a GT or a car you drive casually not on the edge. Secondly it is a very wide car for mountain roads across Europe where I love to drive and also in cities. Lastly the rear view out of the car is quite restricted compared to other exotic cars, though just as bad as its rival the countach. Much better the 550 Maranello for driving, with better weight distribution front and rear, better rear view and better dynamics overall and a trunk where you want it at the back. Why not have a comparison with maybe a 512M in future.

@@jasonjcr_cars819 I love my Mondial T Cabriolet - its a full convertible and its said that the Mondial is better to drive than a 328/348 (haven't compared though by myself). The thing is, I bought a low milage car with only around 20000km on the odometer. It has been driven for 2 years by the last owner, before I purchased it. For driving it regularly in summer, as I want it to, there have been many small issues that cost me around 50% of the value of the car in the last 3 years (specialized Ferrari workshop). I must admit that the car has had a period of more than a decade not been driven regularly (owned by someone with a private car collection). So, all of the things that "age" without driving, have been exchanged by me. You can imagine what that means. I recommend - as you said - to purchase only cars your mechanic has been maintaining for a long period by himself and don't give too much about miles/kilometers the car has. Of course at some milage points certain things have to be looked for (like the usual km to a first engine revision, suspension, clutch, air-condition etc.). I dont regret the purchase. I love every single ride in it. And the good thing in a classic Ferrari - even in a Mondial - ist, that the value raises continuously, so hopefully the investments in the car will be egalized at some point. ;-)

Nice. Having just found your video it brings back many good memories of my ownership of a white 1990 Testarossa for almost a decade in the 1990s. I find it funny that you speak of it as vintage because it was quite new when I owned mine. It's basically a BBi that went to charm school and the reliability was 2nd to none, a wonderful long distance GT with tons of torque, the best Ferrari I have ever owned and biggest mistake I made was selling it. FYI I did put a Tubi on it for a short while and it did not sound good nor ran well, I would not advise it but if you do keep the stock exhaust for originality. You may later encounter slight starting problems with the starter solenoids return springs etc. after a shut down when motor is hot but there are easy fixes. My further advice is don't ever sell that car, you'll regret it! Migliori auguri!
