I just moved and found a kit that I bought about 17 years ago. It looked good, even the colour was still pretty good. It smelled good, so I made it up. I bought fresh yeast etc. and it has turned out to be a lovely Valpolicella!!! I almost tossed this kit, but thought what have I got to lose, a couple of bucks for fresh additions and some time.

I just ran across your video while researching whether my nine kits that are over 10 years old are still good to use… They sat there since we lost our baby son. But I think we are ready to try them now, thank you for your content

I have been following you for years. Thanks for all the great content. As a fellow Iowan, I also fight the beer snobs from time to time. This may not be ideal, but experimentation is what makes this hobby great. Some of the best brews I have made weren't perfect on paper.

Haaa I first started with a friends John Bull Beer Kit. Think it was from the 90s but we made it in 2009....tasted fine and started all kinds of making up to All-Grain :o

I was given one for Christmas that is 6 - 7 years old. Giving it a try this week.

I brewed a year past best before red porter, turned out fine but I had a stout brewing alongside to judge it, OG of the porter and stout were both 1.041 but the stout dried way out to 1.002 and the porter only got down to 1.014. But that's a while ago now, I think they've both been drunk by now and didn't notice a difference between 2 extract brews. Cheers 👍🍻

Hell no. Anyone who said to throw it out is insane. Those kits aren't cheap. It can't hurt to try. The only thing I can see going bad is the yeast. The grape juice should be good. It's got plenty of acid in it to keep it from going bad too quick and it's probably packed so tight, oxidation isn't much of a concern.
