I bought one of these to practice doing mods. I did the painter's tape, foam and replaced the switches with pre-lubed Akko purple switches. It sounds a lot better!! I also taped the inside of the spacebar, and that made a huge difference toward the overall typing experience.

That's awesome! I'm just about to take a second crack at it with this same keyboard, this time lubing switches/stabs, more layers of tape, different foam, and spacebar fillers.

I was able to put 3-pin akko switches in it. I think I used the wine red lubed switches, and they sound pretty good!@@lakirajayamanne4004

Hi, i am looking for a budget mechanical keyboard that looks very cool easy to type and comfortable for long period of time so far i found nothing perfect looking until i saw this amazing keyboard.I was wondering if is there any other keyboard like this or this is the only perfect budget keyboard.by the way have a good day and i hope you will respond to me . keep going, and one day you will be the best

There's always some cheaper but no-brand keyboards available but this Magegee MK-Box is probably the best, most affordable and reliable mechanical keyboard to start off with. Its a great starting point to learn modding too.

My stock sounds hollow and I can hear the echo of the springs, not a good sound out of the box.

Exactly! Barely anything it seems. Maybe slightly less pingier, but only a tiny bit. Next I'm gonna try a few more layers of painter's tape and switch the cotton with foam mod. And attempt to lube the stabs.

@RJBaculo Hey there I have the magegee star 61 (red switches) and I taped the PCB with about 3 layers of tape and I put foam in the backboard. Foam really helps muffling the sound

The only problem with masking tape is the adhesive is stronger than painter's tape and can leave sticky residue when you take it off. And my worry with first aid wool is if you have rgb lights, there could be a chance its easily flammable.

what do i do if one of the screws came pre-stripped

there are many different methods you could try on stripped screws in general, you could use a flathead, place a rubber band between the screwdriver and screw to create some friction/force to unscrew, some other methods are well, one time i accidentally stripped a screw on my wii while i was taking it apart, and the screw managed to work when i used a smaller bit/size.
