I have been holding this until a new quiz came out and now I can throw out the idea. I do not know if it would be great for a full quiz or just a bonus question, but here it is. Many teams have announcers with very recongizable voices and I think it would be interesting to have some calls played aloud, without key players of course, and you'd have to say the team they announce for! Maybe an even well known Latvian player is Arturs Irbe, who was a goalie, so it wouldn't show up on the list. Current Latvian NHL players are Zemgus Girgensons (Buffalo), Teodors Blugers (Penguins) and Rudolfs Balcers (Sharks) as well as Elvis Merzlikins (Blue Jackets) and, maybe some might remember the somewhat recent tragic event in which we lost Matiss Kivlenieks, who was also a goalie for Colombus

Yes he did, but since Canada Cup is/was not a IIHF rules tournament, they had different rules concerning representation. There has been others who have played for different team, like Peter Stastny, Petr Nedved and so on.

1. It´s Stastny, not Statsny ;) 13:45 2. Funfact. Did you know that Stan Mikita was born in a small village in Slovakia (and was proud of it and of his native language)? He moved to Canada as a very young boy (8 yo I guess) and lived there with his uncle and his wife. In fact, the official NHL website counts him as a Slovak player.
