It won’t let me enter titles for the individual tracks such as “Polythene Pam”, “Mean Mister Mustard”, “Golden Slumbers”, etc. They just aren’t in the quiz’s database of songs. When I got clips which were certainly from “She Came in ...”, the correct answer turned out to be “You Never Give ...”

It's amazing how much better at this I was than the one-second version. My brain just doesn't process things fast enough for that. Two seconds is much more doable. Granted, it helped that they used very identifiable parts of the song.

With two seconds it's more likely that you'll hear a snippet of words that you recognize. With the one second version it was sometimes guessing based on the rhythmic feel.

The only one that threw me was the "You Never Give Me Your Money" bit. As soon as it was wrong, I knew it was Carry That Weight. I listened to the early songs about as much as the later ones so something like I Should Have Known Better was no problem. Thanks for sharing this games, David!

Having grown up with the Beatles, I figuratively inhaled every song and album from beginning to end. As presents in Christmas, 1963, I received Meet the Beatles and a Stella guitar. I know their early stuff is being examined more in 2022. The evolution of these young men from a Liverpudlian band to mythic proportions is amazing.

I got all of them except for a couple, so I'm pretty happy with that. The quiz playing the "You Never Give Me Your Money" section of "Carry That Weight" was awfully deceptive, wasn't it? This is just like something I used to do with my brother a couple years ago. He'd play a bunch of Beatles songs from Spotify and I had to name them just from hearing the intros. At the end of the 1970's I lived in Mexico city. My cousin (4 years older than me and around 14 yo at the time) and a friend of his (same age) participated in a Mexican TV contest. This contest asked difficult questions on a topic of the choice of the contestants. Every correct answer got you the possibility of earning double the previous amount, starting with the first at only 64 Mexican Pesos and ending at 64,000 (big money at the time). My cousin and friend chose precisely the topic of identifying songs by The Beatles by listening also to about 2 second fragments. They reached 32,000 pesos (!), but on that day the TV show actually came to an end without them being able to go for the final 64,000. Nonetheless, that was a clear precursor of all this! :-D

I also got all 10 easily, but then I've been listening to ALL The Beatles songs for 50 years, not just the later ones. I wouldn't have thought you'd be stumped by a song from A Hard Day's Night. I thought the Carry That Weight clue, actually both clues, were a little bit sneaky, playing the melody of a totally different song and all. Much, much easier than the 1 second version of the game.

I guess if it's random, you'd be more likely to get a snippet of the chorus, since it repeats and takes up the most run time, typically. Which your playthrough also sort of seemed to suggest. Of course the chorus also often contains the song title. I'd imagine they might pick the daily challenges manually.

It randomly selects 2 second clips so occasionally it will go right to the end where there's essentially silence, and it doesn't have the entire Beatles catalogue. For example, it doesn't have If I Needed Someone.

Kenny Everett used to do this on Capitol Radio in the 70’s - but he only played the First Note! I got them all including “Yes it is”, flip side to “Ticket to Ride”. Try that.

I guessed all these successfully, except for the Carry That Weight fakeout. The instant it was revealed it wasn't You Never Give Me Your Money I realized what had happened. It's one of the only instances of a proper reprise in a Beatles song (along with the She Loves You reference in All You Need is Love).

Your comment on "Don't Let Me Down" being a live version is kinda funny when you think about it. The version on Let It Be was a live version (the rooftop show) and that was the only live show they did while that song existed.

@@DavidBennettPiano Did some exploring... it's definitely not the Let It Be Naked version as the vocals from the first 10 seconds of the game don't match. In Let it Be Naked, the harmonies start right off the bat and John changes the melody slightly in the second line which matches the first take of the rooftop concert. The version on the game and in the original Spector mix was recorded two days prior to the rooftop concert and starts with John singing solo for the first couple of lines so I guess it wasn't a live version.

I tried it, and one of the song segments was 2 seconds of silence from the end of the song! Thankfully when you miss once it gives you a chunk from somewhere else in the song. Definitely not enough songs from the earlier albums. I've done 35 songs and only one from Meet and none from For Sale.

After doing some more rounds in my free time it's clear to see that the website isn't perfect. Playing around 35 times I was constantly getting repeat songs - I got hey Jude at least 4 times. Also I got All Things Must Pass by George Harrison which wasn't released on any Beatles album (except for apparently a compilation album). Sometimes it will be more or less impossible like I got the very end of roll over Beethoven once; I got the ending chord but then I couldn't really figure it out since your mind can't work out the song backwards very well (but then again this will just be down to chance and isn't really the dev's fault). Lastly they had an orchestral version of while my guitar gently weeps which was a bit unfair since it sounded nothing like the original and I only got it once the lyrics said 'I don't know why...' But honestly besides the fact that you are given the tutorial every time you click next song and the constant repeats that happened (about half of the songs I went through were repeated) the website is pretty fun.

@@hamfisto yeah as I said it was on a compilation album which I personally wouldn't really consider a proper Beatles album and therefore I had never heard the song before since I only have the main albums and a few of their singles. The actual song wasn't released on an original Beatles album rather just George's solo album after the Beatles broke up so I wouldn't really consider it a proper Beatles song. But then again these things can be argued - this is just my opinion.

Hah, I definitely got tricked by the LOVE version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. And I did see 'All Things Must Pass' as an option in the selector - but as it turns out that anthology version is one of my favorite songs of all time so I was hoping I would get it, but after 100 tries I never did. I did get I Want You (She's So Heavy) at least 4 times. Interestingly it's one of the songs I could consistently guess at 1 second, haha.
