Good job! I’ve been trying loads of different papers trying to find the right one. I just thought maybe some lifting medium might work well dried in a few layers in the paper beforehand. Give it time to sit on the surface longer. I imagine more sizing is better but then the most heavily sized papers are usually rougher and these are better in smooth paper.

I'm in LOVE with how you use these. Gorgeous!!!! I also always look up to how you use and blend colors, especially on eyes, and honestly using markers that are so saturated and full of pigments give that further push to your use of colors (since your watercolor pieces are more on a "lighter" side, I hope you get what I mean!). I really do hope to see more illustrations with markers from you 💞 but hey don't forget the watercolors!! 😳😂

this was a really nice way to work with the product. I have used w&n watercolor markers a few years ago but mainly mixed them in a palette, because of the uneven blending. Although i think the paper might play a role in how they blend too. A limited palette painting with blues and browns would be gorgeous!
@chaosdestructionlove4 жыл бұрын
These look incredibly fun, I used to use the tombow dye markers in a similar way with using a light colour to blend the more pigmented colours together/water. Its definitely a different bit by bit way of working but it makes some damn fun effects. I need to do that again, got some pretty severe anxiety around the ingredient toxicity in art supplies so hoping to get a desk soon to alleviate that. Its not fun having your brain make you fearful of even non toxic art supplies. :,)
@mypandapaints58544 жыл бұрын
The paper has a huge affect on how easy it is for the colors to dissipate. While not a 100% cotton paper, they work best on Montval by Canson. After that, they work decently on Arches and the Winsor & Newton watercolor papers. There were a couple other papers they work well with but can’t remember at this time. Also, they need to be kept on their sides. They have a tendency to seem like two different colors on each side due to pigment settling if kept upright. I’ve found discrepancies in how fine their bullet nibs are also. Some are nice and thin and other are thick and nubby. Sometimes even a bit frayed.

I have tombow markers and eco line markers. I primarily use them in mixed media backgrounds so when they don’t blend out entirely, it just adds texture. Or I use them for coloring books that alcohol markers would absolutely destroy (which is most commercial coloring books).

I have a few of these markers. Because they are so staining, they work better on 100% cotton paper than on the Strathmore 400 cellulose paper. On wood pulp paper they stain so quickly that some colors make unintentional marks. But from the comments, it seems that other artists have had different experiences so I guess one needs to experiment to make them work. I only really use the darker colors for signatures because they're mostly lightfast and the bullet and brush nibs make it easy to write in cursive.

it turned out lovely, but it would definitely ruin the flow for me to have to switch between markers and paint brush, at least I think so.

So they rebranded there Watercolor markers . I own the original Winsor and Newton watercolour marker, I liked using the brush tip on these markers as it has a nice nib. I understood they were light fast too. My only negative was the pigmentations was really strong it made dilution hard to blend with the limited amount of colours available. I hoped they would offer more colours and a pastel set, future blender set, white marker similar to the Winsor & Newton pigment.

Somebody needs to find a solution ... there is no substitute to try, see and feel them on different papers but it borers on insanity to manage all this paper ... sigh.
